The Magnifica Evo Fully Automatic Espresso Machine is a decent coffee machine. The options for differnt drinks are endless. I had some issues with getting used to it right at first, so I suggest thoroughly reading the instructions and recipes for the push button functions. It can be a bit overwhelming, but now it's fairly simple. Aesthetically, the machine is beautiful. It fits perfectly under my cabints and is asthetically pleasing to in both sight and sound. The machine works beautifully with both beans and ground coffee once you figure out the right combo for you. The adjustable height on the dispenser makes it easy to use, though I did have to tilt my travel-size insulated mug as it didn't sit straight. Cleaning is super easy and simple. My morning coffee ritual is a bit simpler with the coffee itself, though there are some major issues I have that make it more of a hassle than a help. I wasn't 100% on how frequently I have to refill the water container. The machine rinses both when first turned on and also when powered off which greatly contributes to its water consumption. It would be great if it came with a built-in filter or have the option to be waterline adaptable. With the steam function, it seems to "timeout" when it's preparing to steam. The steam time is short in my opinion and I have to steam 2-3 times to get a good froth. I opted to continue to manually warm my milk and use my manual frother hence only 3 stars.Overall, it's decent machine that makes creamy coffee, but needs some major improvements on the steam wand and water container.

The Magnifica Evo Fully Automatic Espresso Machine has been a great addition to my morning coffee routine. I think it makes great quality espresso drinks, as well as a cup of coffee when that’s desired. Overall, it is a fairly simple machine to use. There was a bit of a learning curve in the beginning to get the grinder set to the proper setting to create the optimal shot of espresso. But once I figured it out, there wasn’t much else to do, except enjoy my daily latte or cappuccino. Having the milk steamer/frother built into the machine is great because it’s one less thing on my counter. And I really enjoy that I can steam my milk to the desired temperature and foam level that I am wanting for each drink. It wasn’t a terrible set up, but you definitely need to read ... It wasn’t a terrible set up, but you definitely need to read the instructions thoroughly to have a decent understanding on how it works. However, I do wish that it was easier to adjust all the settings the machine has to offer for drink customizations. My favorite feature is that there are multiple options to choose from, so I can choose and change the coffee I want based on what I’m in the mood for. And that it’s all at the touch of a button. I love that I don’t have to pre-grind my espresso beans or do any extra steps to achieve a wonderful latte, cappuccino or just a mid day shot of espresso. The look and design of the machine are overall pretty sleek, I like the black and chrome finishes on it. It is a bit on the large side, but I think that’s to be expected out of an espresso machine, especially when it has a built in grinder and milk steamer. It looks nice on my counter and I get excited every time I walk past it.

If you like to try different types of coffee drinks and switch up your beans - this will be a frustrating machine to use.Achieving a balanced, delicious espresso takes a bit of leg work and the fruits of your efforts can shift dramatically over just a handful of uses as the machine seems to settle into a setting. Grind adjustments are made utilizing a stepped dial in the bean hopper. This is the primary method for dialing in a shot on this machine and the intervals per click are substantial. So, you can easily go from a very sour shot to a quite bitter shot in just a small grind adjustment. There are adjustments via buttons to change the quantity of water and temperature but these are cumbersome and unclear to ascertain what exactly is changing, at best. When you make a change to the grind, the manual indicates that you should make at least 2 coffees to really see the results of that adjustment. So, if you are trying to dial in a new bag, you easily blow through 3x as much coffee as you should as you pull shots to dial in the machine. Once I had finally tweaked things to make a coffee I would even remotely call drinkable, within 3-4 more pulls I had a radically different espresso shot. So yet again the tweaking and tinkering continued.I would have to strongly recommend purchasing the version of this machine with the milk frothing canister because the steam wand on this basic version is in my opinion, unusable. If you set the machine to steam you must wait several moments for it to prepare itself to make steam... and then if you do as you should and attempt to purge the steam wand of any condensation or milk particles, the machine has already reset itself to a general state and you must once again tell it that you are going to make steam. This is very frustrating. It is also a very short steam wand so being able to navigate a steaming pitcher in such a way to create excellent microfoam is essentially impossible. I use this machine with a separate standalone milk frother as it is far easier.Filling the water and emptying the waste bins are very easy and self explanatory.Style wise I don't see many millennials seeing this in a line up and choosing it for their home kitchen based on looks. It has a car service center waiting lounge look to it.Ultimately, this machine is for someone who probably doesn't know much of anything about espresso but is trying to get away from a coffee pod machine. The problem is it will take a lot of work to get a shot that tastes as good as the leading espresso pod system. And, once you sort of figure out the espresso or other beverage type you've dialed in... good luck getting a drinkable beverage from any of the other beverage types on the machine. I asked it to make me a "drip" coffee after getting the espresso dialed in and I took one sip and tossed it.

The Magnifica Evo has earned its place in my kitchen! I have owned multiple super automatic machines from other manufacturers over the last two decades and am sorry that I did not try out De'Longhi sooner. The coffee made by this machine is bolder, hotter, and can truly be considered "espresso" when brewed at full strength. Everyone in my household is an avid coffee fan and drinks made by the Magnifica Evo won every blind taste test versus drinks made by our other machine. All of the standard features for machines in this price category are included here, such as the steaming wand, grinder adjustment, and ability to take ground coffee, but De'Longhi gets bonus points in this category because they clearly put a lot of thought into the user experience. Unlike my other machine, the Magnifica Evo's water tank slides forward and the bean container has a removable lid, making both easy to refill, and the drip trays are designed in a way to keep the inside of the machine clean. The machine is also easy to descale and does not require separate "cleaning" and "descaling" operations like my other machine, which makes maintenance fast and easy. The machine's footprint is similar to others in this price range and its silver color and metallic accents would fit well into most kitchens without attracting too much attention.I wish that manufacturers would start making the coffee spout removable so that it would be easy to clean it and remove build-up that accumulates over time, but no machine I have owned previously has included this feature, so this feature may simply not be available in this price range.Overall this machine is a great choice for people looking for a super automatic espresso machine and has won the battle for my kitchen's counter space. My previous machine has made around 8 cups a day for the better part of a decade, so the De'Longhi has a lot to live up to, but so far I have no complaints! Based on the quality of the beverage alone, this is the machine I would recommend to family and friends.
To begin I have to disclose that I have used multiple espresso machines so my review will be based on the experience with this specific machine as well as what I feel it lacks against its competitors. Out the box I could already tell this machine was on the lighter side which made it feel inexpensive. The box included the machine & the instructions. Very simple, very straightforward. I read the instructions and set up the machine which was fairly simple. Ran the water through the machine twice as instructed. I am used to grinding my won beans, tamping them and pulling the shot. With this machine you simply add the beans to the grinding container and select "espresso" icon. Right away I wish it had the option of either a single or double shot, it only had a single shot option. I also noticed there was no pressure gauge to show how many bars the shot had pulled at, it also had no timer to show how many seconds it took for the shot to pull, I had to time it myself. The steam option took so many tries to get right and I'm not sure if that was because it was new and out of the box but it took at least 6 tries to get it to work. The options were espresso, coffee, long, americano & over ice. I love a good iced coffee in the mornings but usually I just do a shot of espresso over ice and some creamer so I thought I'd try this option to make my morning coffee...didn't go as planned. My coffee tasted pretty watered down so I guess it's more of a cold brew option, I'm not sure. I tried it about 3 times in case I had done it wrong but still haven't gotten it just right, the steamer spout also only rotates about 30 degrees out which is less than i'm used to. I do like that when you shut the machine down it runs water out to clear it up. The coffee grinds are dispensed in a container at the bottom rather than having a portafilter to empty after every use. The container is very easy to clean and discard of the grinds. I really liked that the water reservoir is on the side the machine and slides forward for refilling unlike my others that have it on the back and requires me to pull out the machine to refill every time. the dispensing spout for the coffee also comes down lower for shorter cups like espresso shots or higher for taller cups like iced coffee. The tray removes easily for cleaning although it is smaller in size than I'm used to, cups fit fine but gives less space to have both coffee and frother going. One last thing that I really liked was that this machine has the option to use ground coffee or whole bean, something my other machines lack and I've said was necessary, this is one of those features that really makes it stand out even with the negatives. I have yet to clean it but the machine included a descale packet that I'm sure i'll need soon. Overall it is a good machine especially if you're just starting out and enjoy making your own coffee but don't like the amount of time a traditional espresso machine takes.

For example, there are multiple options for grinding beans, and setting the brew strength, which both require some trial and error. My favorite aspect is the simplicity—it does all the work for you. There’s no separate grinding or frothing, and with the touch of a couple of buttons, you’re done. You can even set a “favorite” program for consistency.Since time is always a factor, I also appreciate that most parts are able to go in the dishwasher for cleaning. The milk for frothing is kept separate from the main machine, so cleaning is simple there as well. While it does take up a decent amount of room on the counter, no appliance deserves it more. In addition to the functionality mentioned above, it’s tasteful and does go with most any color scheme. We have stainless appliances, but it would also work well with black. Finally, the flavor definitely exceeds that of our area coffeehouse. I love having the ability to fine-tune it to our personal preferences, and love knowing the quality of our ingredients. I’d highly recommend to anyone who desires the same.
De'Longhi’s Magnifica Evo espresso machine is an elegant appliance that has transformed my coffee rituals in immeasurable ways for the better. Quite literally all steps and factors in preparing a variety of coffee beverages were assessed and designed around to create a comprehensive coffee compliance that is also extraordinarily simple to use. It’s simply amazing - I really cannot sufficiently emphasize how impressive it is!The Magnifica Evo can prepare MANY coffee beverages and has an array of presets to simplify the process. After you have loaded the machine with beans and water in their respective compartments, you simply select your desired preset and watch in amazement as your selection comes to life (I have to insert here that De'Longhi includes a sample of their own beans that I found to be surprisingly complex and I do plan on acquiring more). The dispenser has an easily adjustable height so mugs and travelers alike may be used and without messy splashes. The machine alerts you to low beans or water. Adding beans is accomplished via a chute at the top of the appliance, water is added via a removable reservoir on the side, and when the water container is removed the burr grinder is revealed and may be removed for periodic cleaning. I prefer my coffees black, so I haven’t yet used the froth function, but it does seem as remarkably easy as you’d expect in such a refined machine. If I was pressed to find a fault in this appliance it may be that a larger water reservoir would be helpful and potentially require refilling a couple times during the week as opposed to my current every other day routine. The container is a sleek and sufficient capacity design, and easy to access so I would not take any points away for its volume. The Magnifica Evo is a 10 out of 10 appliance with no question. I am proud to have it in my kitchen and it has elevated my coffee game in immeasurable ways! Thank you, De'Longhi!!
What a treat to wake up to every morning. Our household has gone through many coffee appliances and many methods of brewing and this Magnifica is the best we've tried. It's a wonderful combination of great, extracted flavor, ease of use, quick brew time, and its ease of clean up.Prior to using this machine, my wife and I had been brewing our coffee using the Hario pour-over method, and a few times a week we'd go to a coffee shop for supplemental caffeinated brews. My usual order at the coffee shop had been a Shot in the Dark - a shot of espresso dropped into a black coffee. I liked the flavor intensity and the froth. My wife's order was always a cappuccino. Now with our Magnifica, we can brew these ourselves and skip the line at the coffee shop altogether and save us time and money, without sacrificing flavor! There are several other drink options too, that have been fun to try, along with 3 levels of strength for each. The milk frother has been great. We'd previously been using a separate frother at home and this built in unit works much better and looks great. We have a coffee bean subscription with a local coffee roaster here in Portland, OR, and the built-in grinder has worked flawlessly. It's important to note that the grinder is a burr grinder, the only choice for uniformly ground coffee beans. The machine was simple enough to setup and came with instructions that were sort of vague but straightforward. We ended up watching some YouTube videos on setup to make sure we didn't miss anything, along with videos to better explain the drink options. A YouTube video also helped explain the descaling process, which was a little time consuming but mostly hands-off. We had to descale the machine after about 5 weeks of use, so we expect to do descale about once a month.I appreciate the lights that indicate when the water needs to be refilled and when the spent coffee grounds need to be emptied. My only gripe is that there is no indicator to inform me when there are not enough coffee beans in the grinder. We've brewed more than one cup with an insufficient amount of grounds, which is frustrating since you're stuck with a cup that is mostly water. And sure, we can call that user-error. I've learned to lift the lid prior to brewing every cup now.Overall it's a great machine that makes wonderful coffee drinks and looks sharp on the countertop. I've already recommended it to friends and family!
I really enjoy the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo automatic coffee machine. It is a total game changer to be able to buy whole coffee beans and let the machine do the rest of the work. It makes the coffee fresh and tastes almost as good as my local independent coffee shop (especially when I use their freshly roasted beans). Setup is fairly simple and different settings are easy to figure out, although I would recommend doing a few test runs of each of the different options so you know what to expect. The espresso option is obvious but I am still not sure the difference between the “coffee” and the “long” button- they both make the same amount and taste about the same. Once you get started using the machine it is extremely easy and convenient to use, and cleanup is a breeze ... MoreI really enjoy the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo automatic coffee machine. The espresso option is obvious but I am still not sure the difference between the “coffee” and the “long” button- they both make the same amount and taste about the same. Once you get started using the machine it is extremely easy and convenient to use, and cleanup is a breeze since the used coffee grounds are deposited into a little bin and don’t have to be emptied with each use like other espresso machines.I only have 2 complaints as to why I didn’t give this machine 5 stars: First, the milk steamer wand is not metal- more of a slightly shorter plastic tube with an inner silicone lining. It just doesn’t steam milk as well as metal steaming wands that I’ve used before. Even though this makes it hard to practice latte art it doesn’t affect the taste and every latte I’ve made has been delicious. The second reason is that within one month of using the machine the “descale” light came on. Although the machine says you can use tap water if you have to buy the DeLonghi descaler to descale the machine each month that is both expensive and adds up quickly. I might try using purified water in the future to see if that affects how often we have to descale the machine. This machine definitely makes our home coffee brewing so much faster and a nice/unexpected bonus is that we have saved over $100/month since owning this machine- we literally have no reason to go out and buy coffee/espresso based drinks since we can make such great ones at home so quickly and easily.
As someone who previously only used capsule espresso machines, I was a little apprehensive about setting up and using an espresso machine like this. However, I was blown away by how easy it was to set up and use!The quick start guide and the extraction guidelines were extremely informative and easy to follow (especially for someone who is new to this type of machine) - I was able to set up the machine and determine whether I needed to adjust the settings in a matter of minutes. It is clear that a lot of thought went into designing this machine. I especially appreciated the fact that it automates many of the steps that traditional espresso machines require, such as manually grinding coffee beans and tamping them down, and does it all for you. These features ensure ease of use, without compromising the quality of the coffee. The water tank is easy to fill and install, and holds a large amount of water (cutting down on the need to constantly refill). It is easy to disassemble parts for cleaning. The control panel allows you to select different recipes (espresso versus long, etc.) and the corresponding graphics are very intuitive and user-friendly. The machine consistently yields rich, delicious espresso that tastes better than my local coffee shop, and it does so in a matter of seconds! If I could change one thing about the machine, it would be the top row of the control panel (related to the rinsing function, descaling, and menu setting). The corresponding graphics are not very intuitive, so I found myself reaching for the user guide frequently. The machine also happens to be pretty bulky - although it is narrow, it is fairly deep and takes up a bit of counter space. But the design is beautiful and the colors are guaranteed to go well with any kitchen counter.Overall, it is a fantastic, user-friendly machine that yields delicious, coffeehouse-quality coffee! I am never going back to my capsule espresso machine!
