I reallylike this gun, it’s AWESOME! Yes, it takes a little force to pull back on the slide. The first time I did so it jammed due to operator error. Like many others on here I pulled it back and fired. However, if you read the instructions, and operate the gun as intended, you pull the slide completely back and push it completely forward. Do not expect it to return to the start position on its own. It’s not like some of the others where the slide essentially functions like a actual gun. That being said the gun hits hard, is extremely accurate, customizable, easy to load, I like the color, and the design. I also LOVE the fact that I got it on sale for $15, which was a easy sale for me. The only two negatives I have is I don’t like that orange tips, but I understand ... MoreI reallylike this gun, it’s AWESOME! Yes, it takes a little force to pull back on the slide. Also I would rather it have a pump style cocking mechanism from underneath barrel, but that’s what mods are for. Would I recommend it? HECK YES, again and again!!!

The Apollo XV-700 Blaster was very easy to set up without needing to read the instructions. You load the ammo into the clip, pop it into the Blaster (in only fits in the correct way, so no chance of loading it improperly), and it's ready to use. My 6 year old great-nephew had it all set up for me in just a couple of minutes without any assistance. The ammo is Nerf foam balls coated in a bright yellow rubber; they look like golf balls, dimpled, but are about half the size of golf balls. The magazine holds 7 balls. We were testing the XV-700 at the same time we were testing the Zeus MXV-1200 Blaster (which is battery powered and doesn't require cocking), and we soon lost interest in the XV-700 and only wanted to play with the MXV-1200 due to the difficulty in cocking the XV-700.I was impressed at the velocity and distance of firing. We used the Blasters in a very large backyard, yet still managed to lose two ammo balls over the fence into a heavily wooded lot next door. After that we stood at the back of the yard and fired toward the house. Many shots hit windows, screens and bird feeders without any damage to those items. I would recommend, however, if you're planning to battle and shoot one another that you wear eye goggles.Due to the difficulty of operating the cocking mechanism, I wouldn't recommend this product but suggest the battery powered Zeus MXV-1200 Blaster instead.

I like to open up my Nerf guns and see what I can do to improve the overall performance of them. To my surprise, I found out that I couldn't improve this gun at all. As far as I can see the Apollo Xv-700 is designed the best way it can be designed, which never happened to me before. (There was one way that it could be improved, and that is by strengthening the spring; but you can do that to basically all dart guns). After shooting it for a while, I found out that when the box said that it had superior accuracy, the box was right. It is ten times more accurate then any other Nerf gun I had. So you don't have to waste 10 darts trying to hit a target, which is probably the biggest reason I like this gun. This gun is powerful. If you decided to use this gun in a indoor faculty it can reach your target. Before I got this gun I was worrying that it might hurt someone (and get me in trouble). The reason why it hurts is because some balls are harder than others, and when the soft ones are shot at a target 3 ft away it stings a little more than a Elite Nerf dart shot at the same distance. What I did to solve this problem was to buy an extra package of balls. After I got them I separated the harder balls from the softer balls. So when I want to shoot a person, then I use the softer balls. When I want to use the gun for target practice and not hit people I use the harder ones. This method stops people from crying when they get hit, which is good. I wish that I had not bought all the other Nerf guns that I have and just bought this one. This gun is well worth $26, not like most other dart guns.

Pulling back on the priming bar (lever) takes a bit of force – maybe too much for young playersThe handle is really big – thick enough to allow the clip to fit inside, but might be too large for smaller handsGreat idea to have a safety near the triggerI haven’t fully tested the accuracy with a bulls-eye target, but velocity is superb and impressive. I especially like that you can just walk to the expelled ball and use the magazine to pick it up (placing it into the magazine itself)With only 7 rounds, it would be nice to have extra magazinesThis is the first “ammo” I’ve seen that you can use around the house without damaging thingsI do have a little concern about pets or children trying to eat the foam balls, but shouldn’t be an issue if players know to be children/pets aren’t present during play.I definitely prefer the foam density and composition of the balls to any darts
Before I begin, bare in mind that I only review the Nerf blaster for what is given in the package, unaltered and unmodified.Initial thoughts: The Nerf Apollo is cheap at a price of about $20 (at the time of this review). This would allow someone to introduce themselves to the power of the Rival line with little drawback. However, one will find that by playing with others, that the investment will not be enough. With a seven round capacity magazine, the Apollo will not be able to keep up with say, the Nemesis. Obviously, one would not consider the Apollo to be a primary weapon, but used as a secondary, a backup if you will.Let's be real though. The Apollo is not the ideal secondary. It is massive, difficult to prime, and requires additional, larger size magazines in order to justify carrying on one's person (which are not provided). Don't get me wrong, the Apollo will perform as it should (hence the average rating), but you won't see many of your peers successfully using the Apollo in your next Rival battle. Conclusion: The Nerf Rival Apollo is a fair deal. For the money, you will get a great Nerf gun. However, it serves no justifiable purpose in battle. There are too many blasters in the Rival line that rival (pun intended) the Apollo. I would suggest saving your money for something that will hit some sort of niche that you may be wanting to fill.
The Nerf Apollo XV-700 is a bold new design from the blaster makers. The new golf ball style ammo and clip system seemed unusual at first, a clear departure from their traditional darts.Unpacking it seems easier than most nerf guns, without the paper twine and such, and my initial impression of the toy itself was skeptical. For a product that claims to exhibit precision above other blasters, the idea of a priming mechanism on the top seems counter-intuitive. How would one aim it properly to take advantage of the improved aero-dynamics of the ammo.Obviously, it shoots in the direction you point it, and the drop off seems far better over other blasters, but the lack of sights is annoying for that matter. However, the impact and implied accuracy is admirable and makes it clear why Nerf raised its age of use up from 8 years and over to the 14 and over. The product advertisements I’ve seen imply that the product is aimed at a more adult audience, but it seems likely that the products will end up in the hands of younger teens and adolescents who enjoy other Nerf products. I feel inclusion of the face mask would be beneficial to that concern for parents and other adults.

The Rival line of Nerf guns are available as red or blue. This Apollo blaster has a trigger lock and a tactical rail for sights or other accessories such as a face shield – however – the functionality of the tactical rail on the Apollo Blaster is somewhat minimized by the fact that the cocking lever sits atop the Apollo Blaster – getting in the way of any sight you might try to utilize. You must pull this lever all the way back then push it forward prior to firing. Why it doesn’t return to the front itself is a mystery to me?!? To my knowledge – this is Nerf’s first use of the new ammunition that looks like really small gumball sized golf balls. Rated ages is 14+ - and let me tell you – this is pretty close to the sting level of getting hit with a paint ball – just no long lasting welt afterwards. The Apollo 7 round magazine is cool in that it allows for speed loading your ammo by just holding the magazine and pushing it down over your ammo 1 at a time. Really quick – really easy. The ammo really flies – with claims of over 100 feet per second and we believe it. It easily flew 100’ as well (and in our basement – it bounced off the opposite wall and had enough power & velocity to bounce and roll all the way back to us). It is no wonder that the Rival face masks were made – I’d hate to get hit in the face with one of these Rival foam balls. In my opinion – the facemasks should come with the gun – they are that vital if you are going to shoot at anyone else. There is NO clearing jam port - unlike the Rival Zeus – Nerf really should have had one here – and this is a major fail as jams are inevitable when using any Nerf gun. The pull on the cocking lever is pretty heavy – again – not for the young’uns. Some others have reported jamming issues with the Apollo – we didn’t have any such issues.Overall – the Nerf Rival Apollo XV-700 is an impressive gun, just wish the magazine clips were interchangeable between the 2 guns and the cocking lever was put on the side of the gun. Just keep the Nerf Rival line out of nerf battles for kids under 14.
If you are looking for power and accuracy the Nerf Rival Apollo XV-700 does not disappoint. This Nerf Blaster is so much fun. I got it for the kids but my husband and I ended up using it the most. We made some targets out of paper plates, plastic bottles, and soda cans and had hours of fun in the back yard. I am amazed the power and accuracy. The Nerf Apollo fires at a velocity of 100 fps which results in some truly high impact rounds. The first test shot actually scared me a bit when I saw just how much power it had. Fortunately they are foam balls but I would not want to get shot in the face, or anywhere else for that matter, without protection. If you are planning to shoot these at other people in a competion or battle getting the Nerf Rival protective mask (sold seperately) would be a good idea. I do wish it came with a few more balls. It comes with a magazine and 7 balls but you can also purchase extra in packs of 25 or 50 for a pretty reasonable price. The balls are fairly small and because of the distance they fire and the fact that they roll you have to be careful where you are aiming because it is rather easy for them to get lost. We are down to 6 now after firing a few in the house which ricocheted all over the place and one has already miraculously disappeared. We had so much fun we will definitley be buying the 50 refill pack and the extra magazine that holds 12 shots. The shooter itself feels very well made and easy to use. It is rather intimidating looking with a hefty design. Although it is on the large size it is still lightweight and a really cool looking gun. They come in either red or blue if you would like to use it for team battles. We didn't have any issues with jamming and found it easy to operate. The magazine is super easy to reload my simply pressing each ball in one after the other. It has a spring action cocking mechanism as well as a trigger lock and a release button to eject the magazine. This shooter is designed for people ages 14+ and due to the power I would definitely make sure you adhere to these age restrictions. So far we have been really impressed with the Nerf Rival Apollo XV-700. With the intimidating size and intense power to match you are sure to get many hours of fun.
The Nerf Rival Apollo XV-700 blaster is one of the strongest blasters I have ever owned. The little yellow, golf ball-like projectiles fly extremely far and fast. This blaster makes you feel like you could be playing paint ball or bb tag with this blaster. The ammo clip is easy to reload and slides smoothly into the blaster. The blaster itself is decently weighted, not overly clunky, however also not so lite that it feels like it would fall apart when you arm the blaster. The yellow armed gauge is really helpful to let you know that the weapon is prepped and ready for action. Now on to the negatives of this blaster. First off the fire rate of this weapon is one shot at a time, it is not capable of slam firing. First off the fire rate of this weapon is one shot at a time, it is not capable of slam firing. The age marked on the instruction manual is 14+ however without a mask and the correct protective gear, I feel a child of 14 yrs of age would find this weapon too powerful and possibly painful if fired incorrectly or when shooting/being shot at by others. The amount of effort required to lock the blaster into ready position is immense, I am in my late 20s and have difficulty loading it without feeling like it may break. There is a tactical rail available for attachments, however this blasters does not have a stock sight and feels as though you would be more comfortable hip-firing this blaster than actually taking aim and firing like a rifle. All in all this is a great toy, however it starts to border on the lines of toys and competition paintballing. If you do decide to get this item, I highly recommend the (not included) face mask, as these projectiles are fast and could potentially injure/hurt another individual.
The NERF Rival Apollo XV-700 is very entertaining...for a time. I received this to test and review and thoroughly enjoyed it for a time. It's got a powerful shot and great precision as marketed on the packaging. The magazine is also very easy to load and fun - kind of made me reminisce of Power Rangers. The biggest problem with this NERF model is how easy it is to lose the balls - they bounce all over the place once (powerfully) released from the chamber. The entertainment factor of the Apollo wore off when I had to search all over the place for each little ball. If I was about 14 year old this would be massively annoying and I would tire of playing with it in about a week or two, or after I had lost all of my balls, albeit maybe it would have been more fun if I ... MoreThe NERF Rival Apollo XV-700 is very entertaining...for a time. I would definitely recommend group play with this one though and buying extra accessories, particularly spare rounds.
