As a concert photographer frequently positioned close to the performers, finding reliable ear protection is crucial. Decibullz earplugs have exceeded my expectations, outperforming even my $300 custom-molded earplugs. The fit is incredibly comfortable, and the noise reduction is exceptional, allowing me to focus on capturing the perfect shots without compromising my hearing. The ease of molding them to fit my ears perfectly adds to their convenience. Highly recommended for anyone needing top-tier hearing protection in high-decibel environments.

I have used this brand of ear plug for several years. Very good for shooting outdoors. Negative comments about inadequate noise blocking are usually due to the user expecting too much. No in-the-ear plug that I've ever seen can block out ALL sound, especially gunshots. The important thing is that they block out enough to prevent ear damage. The noise attenuation on these plugs is sufficient to do that. If shooting indoors, you should "double plug", meaning put ear muffs over these plugs.

Bought these for riding. Never used earplugs before. I followed the directions and got them molded. I seem to have very small ear shell and canal. Earbuds of all shapes are always falling out.Used them at a racetrack. Kept the noise out but hurt my right ear a bit. Kept falling out. I used them today riding. Had a hard time keeping them in and getting my helmet on. Fiddled w/them a lot. Right ear still a problem.Re-set them by re-molding them evenly as they originally came. Then I did them a second time and re-moulded them to each ear separately and took my time.Seems like this helped. Right ear feels better. Hopefully they are now flatter and will fit under my helmet better. As far as sound proofing…blocks out a lot and riding on a noisy Harley is not an issue!

The product is really just not great. They formed easily enough and were able to block the sound during the fitting process. However now that they are done being formed, they do not block any sound levels and are essentially useless. I work in a high noise environment and these do not work for me. I was hoping for something better than what the company offers, but if I want to keep my hearing, I have to go back to using their offering instead of the Decibullz. I do hope they are able to work for someone else, they just do not work for me. Now that I have them formed to my ears, I do not expect to be able to return them.
i followed the directions to a "T". The smallest silicone plug required me to push very hard to get a seal on the ear canal. the small foam was worse. Once seated, I tried to mount my full face helmet for riding my Harley Davidson motorcycle. The plug would break seal and then the exhaust sound was magnified! During a reheat, I removed the core for the insert and tried to use just the formable material. I pushed into the ear canal a small ways and the effect was awful. It was a lost cause and I went back to a high quality foam insert.
The Decibullz seem like such a good idea. Pity the execution leaves quite a bit to be desired. The molding process is simple enough but, once cooled, the plugs don't stay in place that well. Every time I put my helmet on one or both of the plugs become dislodged. And every time I take my helmet off both plugs fall out. I followed the instructions carefully and was pressing the plugs in as they were cooling but that doesn't seem to have helped a great deal.Noise protection is fair to middling but, on the up side, my helmet comms are loud and clear. Comfort wise they are ok but that is mainly because they don't fit that well. The foam tips are pretty much useless. They are supposed to give more noise protection but with them on the plugs seat even less well and offer ... MoreThe Decibullz seem like such a good idea. Who wants to drop their earplugs into the mud over and over again?Overall I cannot recommend these earplugs. Too expensive for what they are. I'd say that less than half the asking price is more reasonable and might make me feel like I could just toss them and try something else. As it is I'll try re-molding a few more times to see if I can't find the magic shape that will stay in my ears and offer me adequate hearing protection. I might win the lottery in the mean time and then I won't feel bad just binning the Decibullz.
Do not work -- total waste of money. I read the instructions, watched the video, then molded...and re-molded...and re-molded. They don't work. Hardly reduce surrounding noise at all, and are not comfortable even though they are custom molded to my ear.For something that is supposed to mold to and seal in your ear, I'd expect it to be a bit spongy. It's not. The part that molds is hard plastic. When you heat it up it gets soft enough to mold, then it hardens back up. It does not "seal" the ear at all -- it just conforms to the shape as a hard plastic thing in your ear.The standard silicon fin earplugs are FAR better, and a whole lot cheaper.
I have stalked this product several times and when I saw them at SHOT they had a discount card so I could no longer resist.Instructions are pretty straight forward with one thing I found problematic - you are instructed to put the foam onto the moldable section before putting them into the hot water used to soften them. Well, in my case, that added enough buoyancy that they floated. Had to use two spoons (one in each cup) to get them down.Next - do not spread them too thin as you flatten them or you may wind up making them sharp. My first attempt did not work out due to both the sharp edges and not holding in place, so I had to re-mold them.Second time a charm - I did not leave the foam on during the soak, put it on afterwards (not easy to get off BTW), and keep ... MoreI have stalked this product several times and when I saw them at SHOT they had a discount card so I could no longer resist.Instructions are pretty straight forward with one thing I found problematic - you are instructed to put the foam onto the moldable section before putting them into the hot water used to soften them. I have really small ears and ear holes. I so wanted this to work but the hardness of the plastic moldable part was too hard for me when hardened. And too big. I was using this for judging dance competitions where they blast the music all day, but it’s too uncomfortable for the long 12 hour days. Also, because I have to remove them for tap dance performances from the competitors, I was worried about damage to my ears, as there are some advisory statements about the removal. I think there are people for whom this would be perfect for though, just sadly not me.
Easy to mold; easy to re-mold if need be. Great sound suppression. I wish the lanyard would come with the plug themselves (as the lanyard is an extra $10); BUT, I think the idea is that these will be so snug and custom-fit, the lanyard is really overkill as far as ensuring they stay put. Overall- obviously these are much more of an upfront cost than, say, the $1 foam plugs. However, its a solid piece of kit and has given me enough of an idea about the Decibullz company to know that their products are well worth the initial cost. Your hearing is an investment; use good products to protect it.
