All brass body with black speckle finish The construction of the microphone body is solid brass inside and out. Unlike other microphones sold at similar prices, nowhere in the construction is plastic used to hold it together or mount the circuit board. The S-Mic 2 uses a high-end capsule, computer circuitry and a gold-plated printed circuit board (PCB). The PCB is also sprayed and coated with a clear epoxy resin so that the microphone will work flawlessly in even the wettest environments. This coating also gives the microphone a level of waterproofing that allows the microphone to withstand rain without damage. The body of the microphone has been sprayed with a black stain paint to give it an extremely durable finish, so it will look professional for years and reflect less off the set. Supercardioid pattern The S-Mic 2 features a supercardioid pattern with cardioid polar pattern and offers -18dB for axis rejection. Ultra Low Self Noise The S-Mic 2 has an ultra low noise floor at 12dB (A-weighting) and 24dB (CCIR 268-3). Combined with its anti-RF interference, the S-Mic 2 can be amplified with significantly less background noise than some microphones on the market.
