What a concept with front and rear facing mics in one capsule. This is what i needed for the person behind the mic facilitating the shot or providing play by play while also recieving front audio. Perfect! One and two channel options for editing in post. How is the sound quality? Good for a $100 mic. Is it perfect? probably not but an excellent replacement for dual cavs when needed or desired. I would by again, again and again.

Used the product on a Canon EOS C70 for home movies. It's a great concept to capture front and rear facing audio. The signal comes out stereo where the Left Channel is the front and the Right Channel is the rear. For this specific camera/mic pair, make sure you enabled the "powered mic" option in the audio settings. Results were alright. Audio was clear from both channels. However, I will be returning to use a dedicated phantom-powered shotgun mic. For example, my Sennheiser MKE 600 renders more "presence" (for more $, unfortunately). Don't get me wrong, this Deity product is not bad - it's just okay - it's a mic.

Great mic. Needs extra cord for smartphone use.

This mic is really intended for use with a DLSR, but I'm using it with my iPhone. Unfortunately, you can't record in stereo on an iPhone (why?!) and you must purchase a short TRS to TRRS cable in order for it to even work with an iPhone. However, I'm planning to get a dedicated camera relatively soon, so I think this mic will really shine at that point. The sound is clean and clear. The shock mount works. I love the ability to record in two directions or one, and the ability to plug in a separate lavalier. Really versatile little device.

Great starter microphone
21 November 2021

Deity D4-Duo is a great starter microphone for beginner vloggers and audiophiles. Using with a mobile device (with an app that is compatible with an external mic input setup) and a Go Pro, the audio quality is expectedly better. However, I did notice a higher noise floor even with just the front capsule enabled, and I can't accurately describe if the dead cat is "working" (mixed reviews from other vloggers). The gain and bass appear to be less sensitive than the newly-released Deity D4 Mini. I plan on using the D4-Duo with my GoPro setup as I cannot control the gain on the GoPro, and the D4-Mini with my mobile device setup. It would be nice if the D4-Duo included both TRS to TRS and TRS to TRRS cables just like the D4 mini at its price point. Inside and Outside - Outstanding!
2 August 2021

I use this product mainly for vlogging and indoor (or even outdoor) videos for my YouTube channel. I love the front/back option when vlogging. Makes things easier and less worrisome. I've used it multiple times in all the ways I mentioned above and it has performed superbly. I don't have many negatives. I have not experienced the problems others have experienced with the dead cats. But i do listen closely for it when I edit my videos. Make the purchase!

Just good enough
25 August 2022

Bad, unusable audio in any breezy condition with dead cats on. Very interesting microphone with the added input on mic to have a lav mixed in. Rear audio dual capability is what made me choose this and was helpful a handful of times to be able to have a -10db audio to help try to fix the wind noise from the terrible dead cats.

The first innovative mic since the Rode Videomicro
29 September 2020

This is my first non-Rode mic in a long time and the reason is because of it's innovation. It's hard to improve on the Rode videomicro but Diety has done it. The first big improvement is obviously the second capsule on the back side of the microphone, perfect for the talking cameraman. In our world today, we don't have big film crews each with their own job so this is nice because I can talk to the back of the camera without flipping my microphone around being the talent, audio guy and videographer. They even thought the mic would be closer to the person so added a -10db on the rear capsule. The second addition is an 1/8 input so if you don't need to use the rear capsule, you can use it for a wireless mic or even just a wired lav. This microphone sounds AMAZING!
14 September 2020

I have been using this microphone for the past week and really like how it sounds. So often you don't know if you can trust these cheaper microphones. But I had to see with this one because while I own a MOVO, I'm not happy with how it sounds. The D4 DUO has a much more crispy clear sound to it which helps my voice cut distracting low frequency sounds like traffic noise. The rear capsule sounds fantastic. Almost like recording a narration track while shooting your video. Makes vlogging super easy!

Very versatile on-camera mic, great for run-&-gun work
9 February 2021

Previously, I've used the Rode Videomic Go, which is decent for an inexpensive shotgun mic. A lot of my video is shot gimballed while I'm skiing or longboarding, so it's very useful to have the omnidirectional dual capsule. I first used the mic this past weekend when I was out skiing; I used it with my Sony A7 III for some handheld shots. The audio sounded great and the mic did an outstanding job at cutting the wind. This mic is a great bang-for-buck buy and it's perfect for run-and-gun work.

Well-designed and high-quality mic
27 January 2021

So far so good. Clear sound, great design - very clever to adjust the gain so that the back-facing mic (which is a few inches from my mouth) is softer than the front-facing mic (which is directed toward my subject, typically 2-4 feet away). The directional pattern is tight - noises off to the sides are mitigated nicely. And, I discovered, you can rotate the mic in the shockmount to get the output and input jacks on either side, so it's convenient for any camera.Plus the small size makes it easy to take it with me, which matters when I'm using a small camera that I can easily fit in my pocket.
