This was bought as a companion for a new U2421E monitor. It keeps the surface of my desk clear, which was the reason for buying it. I haven't had the opportunity to use it in a conference call situation yet, but sound is very clear for the purpose. It won't rock games, movies or music, but works for those applications too. The soundbar is small and inobtrusive and is designed to attach by magnets to the underside of the monitor. Installation was dead simple - position it in the right location and plug in the attached USB cable. For the first few days, the computer would only intermittently recognize the soundbar as an audio device. When it's working, I'd rate it 4-5 stars. But this speaker will cut out for a few seconds occasionally. I work remotely and use it for meetings. I can't have it cutting out. After having it cut out twice within a few minutes in a single meeting, I've stopped using it. It was embarrassing to not be able to answer questions without first asking them to repeat what they said because I missed it. It could work 99% of the time, but if I can't rely on it to always work when I need it, it becomes completely worthless to me and I can't use it. That's why I'm rating it 1 star, it has no value at all to me and was a waste of money. The other potentially related issue I've had is that the computer often won't recognize the speaker until I unplug it and plug it back in. This is ... MoreWhen it's working, I'd rate it 4-5 stars. Sleek fits perfect and looks great/works flawlessly with Teams as it's Teams Certified you can do all types of stuff. Although this is not a media watching sound bar. It's works for conferencing but there's clipping at mid-high volume just speaking. Basically, just listening to the radio is unbearable on this. Shame it's the only one that fits P2422H with a mic. Ive used the non-mic version at work and same complaint poor sound, come on Dell! Don't sacrifice quality for form factor. Old ones work better! This was expensivish..what's the better option?? Ive used over 1000s of each product so it's not defective(work).

I am pleased with the Dell Slim-Conferencing Soundbar. I was tired of using headphones for Zoom conferencing. I hesitated to purchase this because several people gave it a low rating. I am glad I bought it.It connects nicely with my Dell U2723QE Ultrasharp 27' 4K USB-C monitor and stays in place. I like the minimalist design; attaching to the monitor removes clutter from the desk.I'm not too fond of devices with unnecessary blinking lights at home. I recently purchased the 32" Dell Monitor for home use. Having worked all my life with screens of 24" or lower, I immediately noticed a drawback of such a large screen. That being the sound coming from the laptop's speakers (though decent) feels a bit odd, coming from only one direction. This speaker solves this issue. It is compact, magnetically attaches to the Dell screen and most importantly does not require additional A/C power supply. The USB port inside the Dell monitor is sufficient to power the speaker. Also, the mechanism is elegant enough to conceal the USB cable. It is an excellent speaker for both conferences as well as watching movies at home (as long as you are not expecting a home cinema experience). The buttons on the speaker on the left and right make it handy to mute yourself during the call without reaching your laptop during a conference.Note that I am not exactly an audio connoisseur. This speaker is just right for my requirements of a decent sound quality and clean/compact design. This is not exactly a home theatre and it doesn't advertise being one either considering its price bracket. So long as you know it, you would be very happy with what you get.
The sound bar works well - once the extra step required by Macs is figured out. Unlike Windows machines, the Mac (a Mac Studio or Mac Mini M2 in my case) requires two cables for activation of the sound bar; one for the monitor’s HDMI or DisplayPort input and one for the “upstream” USB connection. Without that second cable, a Mac only recognizes the monitor (a U2723QE in my case) in the OS’s sound settings panel, but not the sound bar — and no sound output. Add the USB cable and the sound bar is recognized and active. It sounds surprisingly good for having such tiny speakers.
It's smaller than the Dell Pro Stereo Soundbar(AE515M) and does a decent job for conferencing. The lack of forward facing controls is a bit of a blessing and curse; I prefer front facing controls that easily show me the status of the speaker. On the other hand, when not conferencing, the lights go off and this speaker hides on the bottom of your monitor like it's not there. Basic controls only, mute on one end and volume level(twist) on the other. Will put out sound in a pinch for playing a game, but certainly isn't a gaming speaker by any means (tested with Civ6). Be sure to check if it's compatible with the monitor you want to use it on; Dell does not yet have a standardized speaker attachment protocol for it's monitors, even after selling speakers to attach to ... With dell's new magnetic speaker SB522A, Dell has finally created a speaker that is final acceptable. I can say that this speaker is a great improvement over its previous model SB521A.The dual speaker on the new model makes it sound like it somewhat has surround sounds (Somewhat is the key word, you can almost say there is none) where as the previous model would only give you sound in the direction where it was setup (Not pleasant to the ears but useable). For sound volume, I live on a loud street and the previous model was so soft that i had to put it at max volume to hear it, where as the new model i only need to put it around 44-60%.The volume wheel scroll (infinite scrolling) and mute button is nice addition to the speaker and works well.I can't say much ... It is slightly bigger than the old model but it still looks great on the monitors.Setting the speaker up still require you to use the peripheral cable that comes in the monitor box, but aleast this time the online manuel for this new speaker says that you may need to use it. The previous version had no mention of the peripheral cable. (looking at the speaker video looks like you only need three cables: the power cable, video cable and the speaker usb cable. This is a lie you also need the peripheral cable.)I tried the mic out using Discord with friends but i had to play around with the settings and restart my computer to get it to work. My friends said that they could hear me but the issue was that they said it had some static on their end. I tried re-sitting/moving my monitor cables around and updating all my drivers but i could still hear some static when i tested out the mic. With my other mics my friends said that it sounds clear so i guess it must be the Dell speaker issue. The cost of this speaker is twice the cost of the old speaker. If you are dead set to buy the previous model or this model i would recommend spending more to buying this model instead. Now, if you dont care about having the speaker attched to your new 21/22 model monitor to make it look cleanner, i would say you can do alot better by buying cheaper speakers that sound much louder and clearer.
Nice small unit with easy to use buttons and controls. Easy to install. It does plug into a USB port so plan on that. The only issue with not giving a higher rating is the sound quality as mention by others. It is fine for meetings, but even playing podcast (no music), the sound not very good. Music or movies sound quality is terrible. Under Windows 11, I could not find a equalizer function to try and make the sound quality better. Given the price, I expected better. Disappointed with this purchase overall. I can't recommend it.
The soundbar is decent, with average sound and microphone; however, its compatibility with Macs (22 Mac Studio, M1 Max) is not great. The soundbar will sound fine for 10-30 minutes, but after continuous play, the sound will gradually become fuzzy and cut in and out. The sound output will eventually become indecipherable. This issue is fixed immediately by switching the sound output to a different source and then changing it back to the soundbar, but it's frustrating to have to do this continually to maintain sound quality. I've searched extensively for a permanent fix to no avail.Aside from this sound quality issue, the soundbar has a great discreet design, and I like how nicely it attaches to my Dell monitor, which makes the sound issue all the more frustrating.
