Great monitor. Accurate colours and brightness settings right out of the box. Amazing collection of inputs although supplied cable is mini to normal Display Port. Although the connections are supposed to be "plug and play", I had to manually select the miniDP input that I wanted to use. This could be due to using with my old'ish computer which might not feature this option. Easy to perform though. An excellent professional feeling quality unit and a heavy stand which is adjustable in every possible needed way. One note is that the display is 1920x1200 at 16x10 ratio. I'm sure I'll get used to it and it will be better for my intended use of photo editing but, having used 16x9 for so long, at first it seems a bit weird. I knew with the product being refurbished it wouldn't be perfect, but I believe this doesn't meet the standards listed in the description. The monitor stand is not original, which is fine, but its got deep scratches on the base and the arm. These scratches ARE visible FURTHER than 12 inches away. The monitor is also lightly scratched on the back, but those are not visible from 12 inches away. The screen itself fine with no dead cells or scratches and works fine. I am annoyed that there is no cable cover for the back section of the monitor, that was not mentioned anywhere and I believed the monitor would have all of the parts needed even if they weren't original.

As a software developer also deeply into graphics development I've been using 3 monitors for a surround view now for almost 15 years and I've gone through several sets of 3 monitors from different manufacturers. These Dell U2415 UltraSharp monitors are hands down the best monitors I've ever owned. Nothing even comes close. The color accuracy is beyond anything I've used. There is absolutely no dodging or distortion of color intensity or hue. They look more like big windows into the real world than computer monitors. I am using all the color settings out of the box with no adjustment necessary. These are very powerful monitors, I only need to set the brightness on 75%. I ordered 3 identical monitors and there was not a single dead pixel on any of them. The width of each is 1920 and the height is 1200 (not 1080) which is nice for programmers. The side bevel is insanely thin, about half a centimeter from the image to the outside rim of the physical edge. So when I buttress them all up against each other the total edge width between them is about a centimeter. The surface is high quality with no glare. Physically they are very sturdy. The base is heavy and seems to be built around solid metal not cheap plastic. All three plugged into my single NVIDIA graphics card and now run in a surround view with no adjustments necessary. I also use them for FPS Gaming at full 5760 x 1200 resolution and the response time seems super fast. Beautiful monitors for professional graphics work.

The unit comes with two cables: a mini DP to DP cable for actual screen connection to your PC sound card, and an upstream cable to enable the screen's USB ports. My problem (and I suspect other installer's) issue is this: Many sound cards do not come with DP ports! Mine has three ports: VGA, DMI and HDMI. No DP Port! The Dell cable supplied was useless to me- I had to purchase a separate HDMI to HDMI cable to get it working. Other users may require an HDMI to DMI cable or at worst an HDMI to VGA cable. The Bottom Line Is that unless your sound card has a DP port the unit will not work because all that you get with this flat screen as purchased is this cable connection! Also, the simple one sheet instruction page that comes with the unit does not correctly represent the back panel layout of the unit, making it frustrating to work with - you really need to down load the PDF manual for the Model U2415 which is a full 64 pages! Anyway the monitor is great but the information provided is incomplete and Dell's on line help is not good either
I've always wanted a Dell Ultrasharp since I fool around with Photoshop. I was getting tired of my images looking different from one monitor to the next. I needed an accurate reference and the Newegg sale provided an a great opportunity to try one out. Compared to my 144hz BenQ XL 2411z this monitor brings out more warmth and richness to the pictures. You do not have to do anything (like calibrating color profiles) as this item is factory calibrated. I personally think the accurate colors make everything I do on my desktop more enjoyable, however, you might want to think twice if you've ever used a 144 Hz monitor. The Ultrasharp is SLOW by comparison. You will notice more motion blurs. Some fast animations in video games outright skip around (for example, Kalista's hopping doesn't seem as smooth/fluid). Vs a TN panel you're basically trading accuracy for speed, and for me accuracy is much more preferred. I like my games looking prettier than running smoother ha! At any rate, I'm really liking this monitor. I think Newegg's sale price of $239.99 is more reasonable given 2560 x 1440 will be the new norm soon. I wish Dell would make a version without all the extra USB ports and cut the cost down a notch for people that do not require the extra fluff.
These are big and beautiful and I love them. They come with a Display Port to Mini Display Port cable to give the best possible resolution. The monitor has a Display Port in and an out so that you can go from the video card to the first monitor and from that monitor to the second. That allows you to run two monitors from one display port. The monitor carries audio over the Display Port cable and has an audio out among the other connectors on the back so you don't have to connect speakers all the way back to the computer. This is like having a separate DAC because you don't have to use the system boards built in audio circuit at all. Then there is the four port USB 3.0 hub built into the monitor. They have sleek design and the mat surface on the display prevents glare. They are easy on the eyes. I am using them right now and I love them. These are not for gaming, so I wouldn't say they are built for fast response but they are plenty fast enough for me. I use them for photo and video work as well as programming and they do all I need. Great monitors.
Came with a large scratch on the screen and multiple smaller scratches. Condition should be disclosed when purchasing. I understand it’s refurbished, but I wasn’t expecting it to be as damaged as it was. Product was returned due to condition.
I really do like these monitors. The cons are only minor gripes and should not detract from you buying the monitor if it fits your use case and budget. It is a good monitor! I had one as a second screen for my smallish ultra-book. Looking back and forth between the two was driving me nuts so I asked my boss if I could buy a 2nd one when they went on sale again. 2 of these daisy chained via one mini DP connection is very handy! Reduces my desire to have a docking station. I have only been using the first one for 3 months, so I can't comment on long term reliability. Hopefully Dell will take care of us if there is ever an issue. The USB 3.0 hub is nice, but has some drawbacks. The second monitor we purchased did not include the USB 3.0 cable as it should have. Hopefully Dell will take care of us if there is ever an issue. The USB 3.0 hub is nice, but has some drawbacks. The second monitor we purchased did not include the USB 3.0 cable as it should have. Also, most of the ports are under the monitor. This is a PAIN to get to with everything plugged in and adjusted just how I like it. I end up taking the back cover off, raising the monitor all the way up, rotating it to the side, and then I can plug the device in and reverse the process to get everything adjusted the way it started. It would have been nice to have a port or two on the side of the monitor or an easy access location just under the Dell logo or something. There is one port on the back of the monitor, so all hope of easy, temporary connection/disconnection is not lost. Also, make sure you change the Energy setting for the USB ports to On During Standby if you have anything like a USB Ethernet dongle. If you don't, you're computer and therefore all its programs will lose network connection every time your monitor goes to standby. For me, I have my PC set to turn off display after 1 hour. So, if I'm away from my desk for an hour (meeting, lunch, tech support at user/shop machine location), my system has lost the internet connection and my ERP software has to be restarted. Very annoying until I figured out what was happening. Dream setup would allow this setting to be changed independently for each port. Maybe I want my USB Ethernet dongle to stay on, but I want my USB connected battery backup for my cell phone to stop charging, or my USB powered Christmas tree to turn off automatically.
Good Points: Great general use monitor. Useful USB hub built in as well as connections for HDMI & Display Port. Base and screen come apart easily for storage but feels secure when in-use. Nice touch sensitive but discrete buttons at the base of screen. Good build and image quality for the money.Improvement Points: Not the sharpest screen in the shed but good enough for the price point. This monitor is now a few years old and hasn't been replaced by anything markedly better or as elegant.
It looked good and the power came on just fine. However none of the inputs worked and I tried multiple computers and cords including adapters trying to get one feed to work. None did. Not only that the mount for the base was turned wrong so the display could not be mounted on the base. Thus it was returned and hopefully I have a full refund. I'm still thinking if I should order another one after the fiasco of this one. If this one was refurbished I don't think so!!!
