The curved screen is easy on my eyes, the widescreen allows me to work with several documents/tabs at a time, and the image quality is superb. Although a new model has been released, I feel that this particular model is more than sufficient for all that I need and that most would need. If you are considering this monitor but are concerned because a newer model has been released, go ahead and buy this monitor. You will save a few hundred dollars and have a fantastic monitor.

For the monitor, I knew I wanted to keep the setup as clean as possible so it had to be a single ultra-wide display. Unbeknownst to me at the time, I thought I was going to have to buy a USB-C dock, run my laptop to the dock for power and data, then run the dock back to the monitor... I was coming from a 24" Ultrasharp Dell that I have always loved. Big selling feature is the usb-c charge and hub feature. Being able to plug my laptop in to my whole setup with one cable is great. Now have all my peripherals plugged into the usb ports on the monitor, and they seamlessly transition between computers when the input is changed. I did a lot of research but got a poor plan.Conclusion: It is tricky to use KVM here.First, you cannot use KVM with PIP(PBP), KVM only works when you turn off PIP(PBP).Second, dell app do not support Mac. I do not know if the switch is easier on windows, but definitely not on Mac. You have to set the shortcuts from the On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu. Since there is no pre-set physical button for KVM.Here is how you set (and you may need to refer to the user's guide to match the HDMI with upstream USB.)First step, connect your computers to monitors, I use one USB-C to connect new Mac and one HDMI to connect old Mac.Second step, plug the USB bluetooth doggle into monitors upstream USB port. My setting is Shortcut Key 1 is on PBP(PIP), that makes me to enable PBP with at most three push. Shortcut Key 2 is on Input: Auto. This surprises me, since it seems unrelated, but when you push the Key 2 once, it will auto detect signal, and in fact switch one to the other. I make Key 2 as the physical switch.There are two bugs. One is the USB-C connection, when your mac sleeps, the connection keep fail and re-connect, which is bothersome. The other is I cannot use the touchpad. Since The touchpad is bluetooth without USB receiver, it cannot connect to the monitor directly. I want to know if there is any replacement for the touchpad.

This was the most expensive monitor I have ever bought and while I can say for far I am happy with it I have some improvements in its usability given the price tag. USB-C works great with a Macbook Pro 13 2017 edition. Switching between the two using the built-in KVM switch is seamless. The bezel buttons can be customized so that theres a dedicated button to switch between inputs.Both machines run the 3440x1440 video at 60Hz with no issues. Color, gamma, and picture in general are at least as good as if not better than the Thunderbolt Display. The matte screen is nice as it does not reflect. When Im not using the USB-C Macbook I just pull the connection out which avoids the problems.Dell makes it clear that Macs/OS X are not officially supported. The sound volume cannot be controlled from your Mac (either via keyboard or system preferences) but the Staticz Sound Control solves this. Brightness cant be adjusted from the keyboard, unlike an Apple display. Night Shift does work out of the box.The stand and backing the screen match the Space Gray Macbook almost exactly.

I paid the extra to get expedited delivery, and got the monitor delivered within a few days.Unpacking and setting up the monitor was a breeze -- I like the way the stand snaps into place easily. I had expected (mentally) a taller and not so broad monitor, but it turns out it's about 14.5" tall. I have not been able to find a connection from my video card (HDMI) to my monitor (USB-C) so I had to connect my video card HDMI connector to the HDMI port on the monitor, since there is no adapter from HDMI to USB-C. There are plenty of adapters from USB-C to HDMI but that would not solve my problem. So, I paid for USB connectors allowing to recharge other devices but I cannot use them for that purpose. I feel that Dell should be more forward in providing adequate information to allow "greenhorns" like me to understand the limitations of USB-C connections before we commit to a purchase. That is the reason why I gave it a 4 stars as opposed to a 5 stars.

I got this monitor and connected it to my MacBook Pro 2017 using the USB-C to USB-C cable and the U3419W does not work well.The U3419W malfunctioned in several ways:1) When the MacBook Pro enters sleep, the U3419W enters a loop in which it will start searching for a USB-C connection directly after it goes to sleep and continues do to so over and over again, never ending.2) When the U3419W and MacBook Pro are âasleepâ my G-Tech external SSD that is attached to the laptop gets kicked off every time the monitor goes through it's signal-search loop. Not Good!I had to close to 80-90 disk-was-not-disconnected-properly alerts when I woke up my MacBook Pro!!!!!!PS This issue was NOT caused by the G-Tech cable disconnecting from the laptop. The drive had already been unmounted improperly!3) You have to make sure to turn off the U3419W before you shut down the MacBook Pro or the monitor will automatically restart the laptop.4) You would have to verify this, but I thought this monitor was supposed to continue charging the MacBook Pro even when the U3419W is turned off. The monitor does NOT charge the laptop when the monitor is turned off.I have not checked this out yet, but since I have a dock with a port for Mini DisplayPort I COULD try an adapter to connect from DisplayPort on the monitor to the Mini DisplayPort on the dock. No guarantees...However, there are two additional reasons that I am seriously considering returning this monitor:1) You cannot use the Apple calibration tool on the U3419W. Furthermore, you cannot use the Dell software to calibrate the monitor unless you also have a Windows machine. I do not, nor will I ever, have a Windows machine if I can help it at all.2) You cannot apply firmware updates for the U3419W unless you have a Windows machine with which to do it.For more info, here is a link to a post on the Dell forums. This person posted links to several other posts about Mac/Dell problems. These are not about the U3419W specifically, but since I also had the problems on the U3419W, they are still relevant.In my opinion, Dellâs replies show that they have no intention of making sure their equipment works with Mac products.
I purchased the Dell U3419W along with the new Dell XPS 13 9300 (USB-C port only laptop) since the U3419W is a USB-C monitor along with the new Dell Thunderbolt WD19TB dock. Upon connecting the laptop to the dock via the USB-C connector and the dock to the monitor using the USB-C connector today, the monitor turned on perfectly (i.e. plug and play). Upon connecting the laptop to the dock via the USB-C connector and the dock to the monitor using the USB-C connector today, the monitor turned on perfectly (i.e. plug and play). Dell has released an app called Dell Display Manager in order to define sections of the screen on the Dell U3419W and upon installing Dell Display Manager I got all kinds of problems.I spent over an hour on the phone with Dell Tech Support to troubleshoot why Dell Display Manager wasn't detecting the Dell U3419W. I tried connecting the monitor via the USB-C cable provided and the DV cable provided to the Thunderbolt Dock and no matter happened Dell Display Manager would not recognize my monitor. Dell Display Manager just says "This program requires a supported Dell monitor and connection and compatible display driver." Only upon by-passing the Thunderbolt Dock and connecting the USB-C cable from the laptop directly to the USB-C port of the monitor would Dell Display Manager recognize the monitor. Dell Tech Support couldn't provide a clear answer as to why using the Thunderbolt Dock won't communicate with the Dell Display Manager app and simply said they can't do anything about that. If a product doesn't comply or communicate properly with another device sold by Dell, then don't solicit the customer to purchase the Dell Thunderbolt WD19TB along with the Dell XPS 13 9300 on Dell's webpage.Overall, I spent about five (5) months researching monitors before purchasing the Dell U3419W. I made my selection based on the USB-C connectivity to eliminate cords and space on my desk with one (1) large monitor instead of two (2). I read reviews that the speakers on it were not very good and honestly I didn't purchase the monitor for the built-in speakers but I will confirm the speakers are pretty bad. When I get an email, the Outlook sound is muffled and stretched in its sound delivery. If you're looking for a great 34" curved monitor for the graphics, I'd recommend this one but if you're looking for it to be compatible with the Thunderbolt Dock or have good sound producing built-in speakers, I'd wait for Dell to resolve both issues before purchasing.
