I was looking for a webcam for my desktop that allowed me to use Windows Hello facial recognition to login. I know it's a first world problem, but I was tired of punching my PIN every day. I also wanted something that would work in my lowlight situations while being able to follow my face.Dell hit it out of the park with this webcam. It features an all-metal design, a solid stand that attaches magnetically, and a metal (padded on one side) lens cover that's also magnetic. The camera requires a USB 3.0 port and has a USB-C port on it. The cable Dell provides ends in USB A, I would prefer it if it were USB-C to USB-C. But this setup will do for now and you can always replace the cable.I plugged the camera into my system (a non-Dell desktop), Windows immediately ... MoreI was looking for a webcam for my desktop that allowed me to use Windows Hello facial recognition to login. Dell's software is lightweight and doesn't reduce system performance.I like the overall aesthetics of the webcam and it blends in. Dell provides a monitor mount along with a small desk stand if you prefer. I went with the monitor mount though, with my 32" monitor, I'm either always looking up or down when in virtual meetings. Microsoft's eye correction would fix this, if only they would open it up beyond Windows on ARM devices.Either way, this is a great webcam that offers a clear, high-resolution picture. It effectively follows me as I shift around in front of my desk and Windows Hello is quick to recognize my face and log me in. A little on the expensive side, but worth the price.

Complete instructions for set up were included, One little issue (which was my fault)....) the camera downloads a 'periphal manager from Dell, so for a new set up, the computer needs to be connected to the internet. But easy to set up, with many on screen controls. The camera will update it's drivers on demand, and works flawlessly with this (Dell XPS Windows 11) machine. 2 types of mounting brackets and plenty of cable are included in a sturdy (I wouldn't to throw it out) box. Lens cover included all wrapped in a sturdy dark metal case. Very nice quality camera, (bit heavy for a laptop's monitor use)....clear, totally adjustable picture and quite easy to use. Definably worth the investment for a higher end machine.

I've spent a lot of money on a lot of webcams over the last year; one disappointment after another one. this one is pricey but it is 1000% worth the cost. It works; excellent video quality. My office is in the basement (I have some natural light from a window) so it's hard for cameras to get a good focus on me especially since I have about 8 feet behind me to the back wall, but this camera does not have any issues finding me and lighting me well.I have not used the mic for it, and to be honest I'm not even sure if there is one, but I haven't checked.
Overall I'm happy with this Dell Webcam but it was a bit of a rocky start. Plugging it in (Windows 10), the software installed just fine and after looking over the settings, chose a narrow FOV (primary reason for ordering) - so far so good. The image quality was not great, however. The white balance shifted between too cool and too warm about every thirty seconds and there were occasional periods of flickering/flashing in the colors. The unit also gets very warm (almost hot) to the touch. Reading other reviews, the heat seems to be a known item but couldn't find any reason for it or response from Dell that a firmware push would fix it. None of my previous webcams were ever even warm - what is going on inside that cylinder?? None of my previous webcams were ever even warm - what is going on inside that cylinder?? Almost reverted back to my old webcam but stuck with it as I didn't need to use OBS with this one to achieve the correct FOV.Over the next week or so, the white balance and flickering issues slowly went away. I don't know why - I didn't touch the settings or do anything other than use it for Zoom calls at work. It feels like the webcam was settling in (or maybe some of the AI built-in was getting better at handling the lighting in my office). At any rate, a few months later, I'm very happy with it overall. It still becomes very warm to the touch (even when not active) but I can live with that.
Wanted a simple Webcam able to shoot high-end video for broadcasting. As my setup needed to be portable and light, setting up a DSLR turned burdensome. The Logitech's offering were only good as a webcam shooting directly into your face in close range and falls flat in every other instance. The build quality is excellent, one of the best I've seen ever in something as small as this. It weighs a lot and the cord is thick and removeable. It comes with two stands to mount either on top of your monitor or on a camera mount. Cleverly, the design of the stand is magnetically attached (albiet very strongly) to the camera, allowing easy access to switch between or to pack up. Cleverly, the design of the stand is magnetically attached (albiet very strongly) to the camera, allowing easy access to switch between or to pack up. One caveat is that since its heavy and thicc, it might be harder to mount on a monitor thats especially curved. The picture and video quality is excellent. Wayy better than any other webcam I've tested ever. It offers a lot of flexibility in what you're shooting and turns out great. Works well with low light and a lot of light. Slightly tanned walls don't look whited out and keeps the colors and images true to life. Not as good as actual video cameras hooked up to the pc, but it's way cheaper, easier to setup, and good enough.Software is iffy. Connecting it to Windows brings up Dell's new all in one software installer (don't need it to use). But a lot of options are in there. Noticeable quality difference between MAC and Linux (Ubuntu). I don't mind since I need it for Windows.
The camera alone gets five stars. It’s beautiful, the design is clean and modern, and it has a solid metal barrel its built into. The image quality is top notch and easily eclipses anything else out there on the market. Even against webcams with similar resolution, Dell’s product has better white balance and sharpness. I also like the magnetic cover and stand. I couldn’t really be happier with the webcam itself.Dell has also gotten a lot better with their software UI and I found it easy enough to use with meaningful features that will meet the needs of most people. However, the stability of said software is awful. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen Dell software crashing a PC and this is no exception. However, the stability of said software is awful. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen Dell software crashing a PC and this is no exception. After installing it, I started having blue screen crashes multiple times a day. After checking reliability monitor I saw that Dell’s software was failing right before every one of these random crashes. I uninstalled the software and everything has been stable since. It’s sad because I can’t use any of the features of the camera so I have to just use the raw output (which is a bit too dark) for Zoom conferences. Yet another case of great hardware and bad software causing major bottlenecks in enjoying an otherwise perfectly good product.Five stars for the webcam, two stars for the software (and those two stars are only for a better than usual UI from Dell, the software itself is useless).Would I buy this again if given another chance? Probably not.
The webcam is built with high quality material and elements. Magnetic privacy cap is a nice touch. I love the included two base adapters - one for tripod and one for mounting on monitor/laptop. My use case requires the webcam to be mounted on a tripod, so the included tripod base is fantastic. Plug and play. No need for any driver installed. However, I did downloaded the DPM software from Dell because I needed the custom control of the webcam. It works well for my usage and I love it. Definitely worth the investment.
Good: The AI Auto Framing is very useful for me. I wish you had control to make the framing a little tighter, as it tends to be wider than I'd do, given the choice. Having a camera that can track me when I stand up and go to a whiteboard behind me, is nearly as good as having a PTZ camera. Fit and finish on the camera, the magnetic cover and the two included mounts is literally perfect. It looks much better than any other webcam on the market, modern and professional, perfectly in line with DELL's current XPS Laptop designs.Bad: Image quality is disappointing, especially in moderate to lower light. Image is grainy with poor color, and particularly awful skin tones. Adding a ring light improves quality to passable, but still not great. 4k is a waste of pixels with this camera, it's softer than decent 720P would be. However I appreciate the fact that my standards are probably unrealistic for a device at this price point, being that my regular webcam is a Canon EOS R (5x better quality, but 10x the price). It's a USB-C native device, that comes with a USB-C to A cable. My laptop is USB-C only, so I need to use a converter or a different cable. The USB-C port is also recessed, so not all USB-C cables will fit, especially USB 3.1/3.2 cables that tend to be a bit chunkier.Final: It's good for the price, with room for improvement in the image quality department, but I'm probably expecting too much. I use it for my travel webcam, and it is WAY better than the one built into my laptop. A few extra options in software (AI framing control), and coming with a USB-C to USB-C cable would bump this up to a 4 star for me. It would probably take a new/better image sensor to bump this up to a 5. It's still better than almost anything else on the market, so I would purchase again, and would recommend it to most people.
Bought this for recording YouTube videos. Was highly excited to find a webcam that purports to be just about as good as a camera with it's 4k and all. But unfortunately, as a 'camera', my Samsung S23 Ultra does a WAYYY better job. Spent many hours thinking "I must have the settings wrong" but nope, it just wasn't possible to get a really good clear picture, good enough to use in a public video. All settings were also checked by a professional videographer - the webcam settings were at the max and as they should be. The phone camera does a way, waaay better job - it's just a fact that the camera on the phone is better than the camera within this webcame.
