This is a nicely designed docking station. However, it turned out to be incompatible with my older XPS 15 laptop model. The only recommendation I would have for this dock and others like it, would be to provide more USB-C data inputs for multiple USB-C devices such as external SSD drives. I have 3 such SSD type C devices and wound up having to purchase a USB-C hub. Also, be sure to check the device comparability list before buying. And read the fine print in terms of monitor resolution support (e.g. this dock does not support dual 4K monitor displays) In the end, the Dell universal dock was the route I took and that works best for my needs. II recently purchased the Dell Docking Station – (WD19S 180W) just a few weeks ago and besides the fact that it arrived earlier than the estimated ETA it was a life saver. It was easy to set up and the driver updated automatically. I have been able to have the setup as a desktop, with dual screens, without having to purchase a new one right now. The only thing it lacked was the sound, and that may have been a user error issue on my part, I just went ahead and purchased some external speakers. This docking station is also compatible with USB-C. There are two display ports, one HDMI port, as well as two USB ports and one ethernet port but you can keep the wireless Wi-Fi setup on your laptop. It charges your laptop while it is docked as well.

This product is great if you are running lower resolution monitors. Dell’s technical support was zero help getting my two new 32” monitors working. The resolution I need is 3840 x 2160 (manufacturer’s recommend setting). According to Dell, this docking station can’t support higher resolution monitors. They even ask me to talk to sales to find another device. Sales says their specifications say it does support two monitors at that resolution. So my expensive monitors are running in a degraded mode with no answers on how to get them working properly! Guess I expected more from Dell’s technical support. The product was faulty. The fan wouldn’t stop even after I updated the drivers. I was using a compatible computer and the dock wasn’t hot at all. There was clearly something wrong with the fan and the company either knowing sold it this way (since this was also clearly a used product, due to scratches on the sides…. Even though it wasn’t marketed this way) or the product wasn’t tested. I will be returning this product and I wish I could give this a zero stars. Walmart you should really look at this vendor.
The WD19S 180w is well built. However, the device is NOT compatible with my system. Dell Sales directed me to this dock. My system requires 180w power delivery. However, this dock will ONLY DELIVER 130W. Even with the 180w power supply. It uses the other 50w to power the dock itself. The Dell Spreadsheet on compatible accessories is confusing. I dealt with 2 different sales people during the troubleshooting process as it wouldn't delivery correct power.
Havent used a real dock before, pretty happy with this one! Super simple to set up with my monitors and laptop!My only concern is that the cord that plugs into the laptop is fully fixated so hopefully it doesnt break. If its anything like other Dell Products I've ordered in the past (mainly laptops) Im not expecting it to break/have issues.Really nice having extra usb ports outside what I need for a basic setup, really good for app development when Im building to different devices!I've only had this dock for a couple weeks so far, so I can only give it 4 stars untill Ive had time to see how the single built-in cord to the laptop fairs over tiem
We've tested a few USB-C docks in our company, and they all seemed to have something in common: for some random reason, they would just stop recognizing that things were plugged in. Monitors work, but keyboard / mouse is disconnected. Keyboard and mouse works, but the laptop doesn't see monitors. Randomly, they would just 'forget' that we wanted to extend the desktop. It was maddening, because it generated user calls and occasionally, you'd have to send them another one, and the one you got back worked fine; it was maddening!THIS dock however, seems to not have that issue. Plug it in, it works. Monitors always come up, Networking and power works flawlessly. I even use it with my personal desktop now because KVMs are *so* 1995. I absolutely love everything my new dell docking station has to offer me. I like that it allows my desk to be wire free and clean looking. It was very easy to set up and use. I have two monitors and my dell laptop connected at the moment. This docking station works great with all my application that I placed on my montiors like quickbooks, remote desktop ect. I haven't had any issues with connection problems or drop outs at all. This docking station also has a fan that comes on a few times a day for a few seconds to regulate it's temperature. The fan is very quite and doesn't make much noise. If your looking for a good quality and well made Dell docking station I would definitely recommend this one. It's that great.
