This is a nicely designed docking station. However, it turned out to be incompatible with my older XPS 15 laptop model. The only recommendation I would have for this dock and others like it, would be to provide more USB-C data inputs for multiple USB-C devices such as external SSD drives. I have 3 such SSD type C devices and wound up having to purchase a USB-C hub. Also, be sure to check the device comparability list before buying. And read the fine print in terms of monitor resolution support (e.g. this dock does not support dual 4K monitor displays) In the end, the Dell universal dock was the route I took and that works best for my needs. II recently purchased the Dell Docking Station – (WD19S 180W) just a few weeks ago and besides the fact that it arrived earlier than the estimated ETA it was a life saver. It was easy to set up and the driver updated automatically. I have been able to have the setup as a desktop, with dual screens, without having to purchase a new one right now. The only thing it lacked was the sound, and that may have been a user error issue on my part, I just went ahead and purchased some external speakers. This docking station is also compatible with USB-C. There are two display ports, one HDMI port, as well as two USB ports and one ethernet port but you can keep the wireless Wi-Fi setup on your laptop. It charges your laptop while it is docked as well.

Having at least 2 monitors is critical if you work on the computer and want to be productive, and for my work where I need to jump between many programs and screens 3 screens is just right (more than that becomes excessive and I start missing messages or emails on other screens). I prefer to leave my laptop open plus 2 external screens and this works nicely for that. I do wish instead of 2 Display port connections it had 2 HDMI but I know this is a Dell so it's basically required to have display port connections. I've seen some people feeling stuck to a very limited option of docks to get 2 HDMI...no need, as long as it has USB-C you can get an inexpensive cable to have HDMI easily.This dock does make some high-frequency noise but it was mostly just while starting up and happens some while programs are loading. I doubt most peoples ears would hear that, and it really isn’t loud especially if you don’t have it right beside you. The dock performs great and makes such a difference to have everything connected so as you move around home and need your laptop you can just plug 1 cable in when you sit back down! I also wish it had more USB connections. I have a USB mouse, keyboard, camera, and wireless headset...so way over the 2 available. This also isn't a big deal because USB hubs are also very cheap (and having 2 USB-C ports is nice for that also) or I can leave the USB dongles for the mouse/keyboard in the laptop, but it would be great to have 4 built in. There is also no plug for speakers in this, for almost everyone that won't be a big deal, and you can get USB speakers if that's important to you.Overall this is a great dock. It's a Dell so it works easily and smoothly with Dell laptops...if you work from home and your company doesn't provide one it is so worth getting one yourself!

It seems very robust and has a quality feel to it, but the cost, size, and lack of ports are issues for me.

I absolutely love everything my new dell docking station has to offer me. I like that it allows my desk to be wire free and clean looking. It was very easy to set up and use. I have two monitors and my dell laptop connected at the moment. This docking station works great with all my application that I placed on my montiors like quickbooks, remote desktop ect. I haven't had any issues with connection problems or drop outs at all. This docking station also has a fan that comes on a few times a day for a few seconds to regulate it's temperature. The fan is very quite and doesn't make much noise. If your looking for a good quality and well made Dell docking station I would definitely recommend this one. It's that great.
