Fantastic plug-in version of the classic Italian stove top percolator! And, if you wander off and miss the end of percolation… no worries about burned espresso with this amazing unit… it goes into standby/heat mode as soon as the water boiling through the grounds is complete. Fantastic! Had one of these on every one of my deployments with the US Navy.. and I still use it now in my kitchen - every morning. ❤️

If you're not yet on the moka pot band wagon, allow me explain why you should climb aboard. Simplicity. Portability. Longevity. The unadulterated delight of a tasty cup of magic that dares to make anyone's day better. Add some primo coffee (i happen to love Illy Brand - but your taste may vary). Some Pro Tips: 1/Keep it clean and dry using water and a microfiber cloth. 2/Replace the silicone gasket approximately every six months to prevent rogue moka grounds from spoiling your day. 3/Convince the unconvinced to love moka as much as me, you, or a whole bunch of others do.

Excellent Moka Pot

After a week of use I’m really impressed with this electric moka pot. It’s very simple to use, just add water to the bottom chamber, there’s minimum and maximum water level markings inside but I can’t see why you’d ever use the minimum as this only makes espresso cup amounts of coffee or maybe half a standard mug. Fill the funnel with your favourite coffee, there’s a little metal circular disc that sits on top of the coffee, it’s thin and will bend easily (the only negative I found) so don’t over tighten the the pot! Within minutes you have freshly brewed coffee. The keep hot function is another plus. No filter paper or fussy add ons to buy and it’s very quick and easy to clean. All in all a great which I highly recommend.

Excellent coffee maker
8 February 2024

This is my second coffee maker. It is modelled around the legendary Bialetti coffee makers. Faster than the original Alicia as they have upped the heating element to 450 watts from 300. Nice silicon seal on the jug. Highly recommend if you are looking to get away from stove top makers. The Bialetti spares will fit too.

Good but the brown plastic holder is not 1419.53ml
19 January 2023

Looking: It's...ok but why this brown plastic, why not glass? And 6 cups = In Canada ? Because your brown plastic holder doesn't have 1419.53 ml. I said maximum 300 ml. So you must define correctly your suze fir the coffee holder.Working: OK, in 3 minutes the caffeine is ready to meett your brain.Money : would I be willing to pay less? Of course. if the price were $20 lower, I would buy another one for myself at the office.

Just brilliant

I discovered this machine about 15 years ago. I think they may have been discontinued so I am buying another while I can. Just brilliant. Mine has traveled the world with me and is the first thing I pack. The best way to make coffee and does it with an electric power source. The standard Italian version of this type of machine is heated on an electric stove top or a gas burner - sources that aren't always available. I usually manage to find a power source somewhere. Even if I'm camping in a non-powered campsite the toilet/shower block will always have a power point. I have even been known to sneak it into McDonalds in a shopping bag. Sit down the back, plug it in, buy a muffin and wait for that familiar percolating sound. The "brew quickly" comment depends on the ... MoreI discovered this machine about 15 years ago. The 100v power source in Japan can make it a bit slow. Worth the wait though.

Leaks
16 February 2024

My first Alicia is still going strong after 12 years of daily use! I bought my 2nd one for a friend. This unit has not sealed correctly since new. As soon as the water starts to boil it leaks. I have replaced the gasket 3 times without success and eventually used a new coffee funnel however from a stove top pot. Obviously DeLonghi QA isn't what it used to be.

Materials not up to par.
29 October 2021

This compact machine is perfect for my needs. Yes it is good value for the money. Yes it is easy and simple to use. However.I am disappointed that the the base and the coffee basket and the lid that holds the grounds down are all made from aluminium. This is not a good material for us humans. The lid that sits on top of the coffee grounds bends with the heat and it's little handle has come loose after only 15 uses. That whole little basket is very flimsy. I am surprised that they didn't make it with stainless steel I would have paid extra for that.

Smaller than I expected!
27 December 2022

Smaller than I expected! I have two other moka pots, and love the coffee they make. Suggesting that this is 2 and 4 cups is a bit of a joke. Unless you are talking about actual espresso cups. But I like a mug of strong black coffee, and this produces half a mug on the "4 cup" setting! The coffee is nice, it's pretty quick at about 3 minutes from cold, and it's no more, or less, hassle than any other moka pot. I could also use it on a timer plug if I wanted, as it also has a keep warm function, but my tiny coffee never lasts that long, and 3 minutes is no wait at all. I've not tried it yet, but the coffee would make a nice latte or similar.

Still Undecided
7 August 2020

I bought this as a replacement for a cheap mokka pot which finally gave up after many years of use.First, the plus points. This pot looks great and feels really solid and heavy, and when you take it apart you can see that every piece is made from decent quality material. Now, the not so great. As others have mentioned in their reviews, when making coffee it's very hit and miss, but mostly miss. I gave up on the first pot I bought and took it back to the store as it would boil and boil but in the few times I tried it I only ever managed to get a dribble of coffee through. The replacement pot also failed on the first try, but I've now managed to get some coffee through by fastening it extremely tightly.
