This is an excellent receiver. I've previously had Pioneer units and this is so much easier to set up, it's well documented and the interfaces are well organised. The speaker connections on the back are all in a nice line, which makes connections less fiddly, and lowers the chance of accidental crossover from overlong wire ends.I have a 5.1 speaker setup and the config was simple and setup was guided step by step by the receiver. The sound quality is superb. I tested with a good range of movies and music - the center channel needed a bit of an increase to raise voices above the background, but otherwise it was excellent. This is a fantastic mid-tier unit.

So far so good. Had it about a month, sounds good. Good features. I have two 5 Polk Speakers on it, 4 x plus a sub. I can only run it about 80% and it starts getting hot. I would be afraid to run it above 80% so it could use a little more power. Volume is a bit low. Sound quality is excellent. THD is a bit higher across the board these days compared to the 70's maybe we measure better now, we had scopes back then as well.

Great sound, improved clarity on the television, and another great Denon product.I upgraded from an older Denon AVR system and enjoy running on the nine channels versus the previous seven. The sound quality is first-rate and movies come alive with the Denon AVR-X3700H receiver. Denon products have always impressed.

I didn’t know it was refurbished. I thought it was brand new. Anyway I really like this unit. It replaces an Onkyo which had a lot of problems. This Denon is trouble free so far. I really like the Audyssey set up software. The unit sounds great with both movies and music.
I replaced a yamaha rxa 1080 and I'm very disappointed..the yamaha has way more options to have any sound you want and the yamaha sounds better. Alo the x3700 is losing signal constantly and I have to keep turning it on and off. Probably going to return it. Got it because I wanted 9 Channel I should have just purchased an exterior amp for the yamaha. Its a shame I really wanted to like it!
Been looking at this since it came out. A little pricier than I normally go for. But I kept upgrading my AVR every few years to keep up with TV technology (720, 1080p, 3D, etc). So this time with a 4k TV upgrade, thought I would buy looking ahead. Since this one will "handle" up to 8K, figured I could spend "future upgrade money" now. Wi-fi, blue-tooth, Amazon Alexa features were nice. Lot's of connections (including legacy stuff). But am curious about one thing missing. Would probably only be for an old school user who liked to record music to his tape deck. I don't see any RCA audio "out" jacks, only in. So while I can play my Tape collection, I have to use older receiver (or some other work around) to make new tapes. And yes I know that is not a mainstream media anymore, but I still listen to tapes in my Yukon. Not a show stopper, but in case any other old timers at there, FYI. Oh, and get a cooling fan. This thing gets hot!
Until recently, I used a Denon AVR X3000h in a 5.1.1 setup. I purchased the receiver back in 2010 and it still performs very well. I gave the AVR X3700h a try and am somewhat disappointed. I do not hear any improvement in surround sound although in fairness I'm not adding any more speakers to take advantage of the 3700's capabilities like ATMOS, side-surround, etc. I was hoping that the newer processor would add something to the setup I already had.
This receiver is stunning. The number of inputs, power, and channel capabilities completely suits my needs. The 4K passthrough works brilliantly, and the receiver does a great job powering my Polk Monitor 70 Series II speakers. The Audyssey setup was also flawless, and running it gave my system the tweaks it needed to sound powerful when I need it and provides enough power at low volumes to be very useful. Overall I would recommend this system to anyone looking for an upgrade we to their sound!
AVR-X3700H Denon Home Theater amp has very high quality sound. The setup was very easy and came up on the attached TV automatically. The setup helped to tie together all the initial features very easily. The apps on my Apple Iphone were very necessary to have to be able to manipulate the more complicated features, but all the features can be worked with with the TV and the supplied remote. The HEOS app is required if you want to use the Internet Tuner. There are very many different built in sound profiles that help with optimizing the sound. So far this amp is an excellent replacement to my last 5.2 surround sound system. You can set this up as a stereo 2 speaker system or a 3 speaker system adding the center speaker or your can do a 5.1 or 5.2 system. I have taken it that far yet. Is easy to add more speakers with the setup menus. I am very impressed with this product made by Denon.
I've been an audiophile for many years so I've seen a few receivers in my day, and the Denon 3700H is among the very best. I's recommend this to anyone. And for what it offers in terms of features and performance this is a steal. So, I do have 2 things that bother me a bout this receiver: 1) It runs hot, and I man hot to the touch. The solution for me was buying a cooling fan from ACInifity. Placed it on top of the receiver and problem solved. 2) The remote has no button to dim the display. You have to delve into the menu to do this. More pain and annoyance than anything else. Other than that no problems.
