The Denon avrx250bt 5.1 channel receiver is an exceptional mid-range unit. I purchased this unit to update my early 2000's receiver.Although, originally looking into soundbars i didnt want to make my high quality speakers and sub obsolete.The Denon receiver was easy to set up, connection via Bluetooth is seamless and responsive. Connection using HDMI, optical input/outputs is easy and the sound quality is amazing with no delay or echoing when streaming music, watching tv/movies or gaming.Overall, the Denon avrx250bt unit is awesome and for me it has brought new life to my ageing surround sound set-up.

I bought this AV receiver as part of an overhaul of equipment for a film society. The very helpful staff guided e through the selection process. Based on the size of the hall we use and the audience numbers they recommended this Denon AVR together with Monitor Audio speakers. They even let us trial the equipment (using display models) before making a commitment. We are obsoletely delighted with the results. The depth, clarity and volume of the sound is amazing and far exceeded our expectations. The AVR is easy to use with the remote because the controls are all intuitive.In suml, I have no hesitation in most highly recommending the Denon AVRX250BT as an exceelent piece of equipment and Richer Sounds for superb service.

After upgrading my TV to 4k, I needed to replace my old Sony AV 5.1 as it didn't support 4k pass through. This seemed ideal - good price and (I thought) great audio quality. While it was a doddle to install and had all of the connectivity I needed (Samsung TV; Sky Q as main input; Sony BluRay DVD; Wharfdale 5.1 speakers) it has a problem with the sound. Intermittently, when channel hopping (or pausing then playing) the sound goes and is replaced by very loud white noise from all speakers. Only way (I've found) to stop it is to switch off and on again. I called Richer sounds who have registered the issue but need it taken into the shop and left for a while to test. I already have another much more expensive Denon AVR and this new acquisition was for my study. I put this side by side with my other Denon and the family could not tell them apart. So visually job done! The new AVR is driving a set of 5 KEF eggs that were lying around. They are quite a difficult load that needs good reserves of power and the Denon is ideal in this role. The soundstage is broad and precisely located with just the right level of surround. I auditioned the system with Trilok Gurtu's 21 Spices. Each instrument in the jazz orchestra could be picked out and the balance with the percussion was perfect. Bass well damped and treble handled with assurance - just the right amount of presence. I bought this to replace an old Sony surround-sound amplifier that had given up the ghost. It is used primarily with a cable box (TV) but also with a DVD player. The previous amp was essentially audio only and I had a separate box to switch the HDMI input to the TV between the two units. That's now been binned as unnecessary as, using HDMI cabling, everything passes through the amp. It's also nice as during the setup phase you get on-screen information and prompts from the amp.Performance is good and a lot of the mode switching appears to be automatic based on the sound source. I bought this to replace an 8 year old Yamaha which developed a circuit board problem. I was quoted £170 to repair it which I thought was not worth it with this new one coming in at £200. After all, I didn't need all the extra features offered on more expensive models. It was easy to connect, I did not need the on screen instructions as I had set up a 5.1 previously, but for anyone doing so for the first time I feel they were really clear. It sounds really good - for TV/movies the dialogue is clearer and the overall sound quality is better. In 2 speaker stereo my cds sound very good too. Easy choice of sound programme selection, easy to vary contribution of each speaker in the 5.1 system. It also looks great. Ordering online was easy and I received updates. I wanted a simple two channel stereo setup and it's driving my ancient Pioneer speakers (a freebie from my brother-in-law who was updating his kit) very nicely. Setup was easy once I had downloaded the detailed manual to my iPad from the Richer Sounds website. The short, hard copy setup guide included in the box was a bit basic.One word of warning, the HDMI Audio Return Channel on my 3 year old Samsung TV was factory set to default to OFF. I had to dig deep into the sub-sub-sub menu on my TV's settings menu to switch it on. I used to have yamaha rxv-375 that i only bought a couple of years ago but it didnt support full 4K with HDR. It really is the most basic of receivers do not expect much in the menus, user configuration eg input rename. A lot less than what I'm used to with the yamaha. The remote seems sluggish to respond and sometimes it appears to lock up requiring a power cycle. Every now and then you get white noise when switching between sources, this requires a power cycle also.Be aware this does not support DTS-HD via certain sources including KODI. Search online for denon av reciever DTS-HD kodi issue and you will see.
