Amazing sound!

I had 3 pieces of Denon professional components back in 1990s, which I loved them to the moon. That quality of craftsmanship stayed in my mind and that is why I chose DM41, and oh boy, it did not disappoint! Mighty, powerful, clear spacious sound, with stunning room filling sound quality. The Bluetooth quality is fantastic, and allows me to listen to Hi-Res music files from Apple Music. As an audiophile, the precision of this device and its speakers are just stunning. It is so small, yet so powerful. The speakers are quite small, but it is unbelievable how they produce such amazing sound. Really happy with my choice, and will recommend this quality brand to anyone who cares about music and sound quality. Thank you Denon!

An absolute joy.

I recently bought an M41DAB system with speakers because I wanted a DAB+ radio, Bluetooth and a cd player. My old Denon D65 stacked system is over 30 years old but with only an FM radio. The M41DAB easily does everything I wanted and it is much smaller. The Bluetooth connects it to my phone very easily. The sound and build quality are excellent, and once tuned in, its very easy to use.The only niggle was having to print out the manual, an unnecessary cost saving. However, if everything last as well as my old system I will be very happy.

The manufacturer could easily double this to make installation easier, where the unit is perhaps more distanced from the speakers. I had to go out and buy longer wires.Altogether, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this and would happily buy another if I need to.

Excellent system

It been a very long time since I purchased a system with separate speakers.fed up listening to music through a single speaker and had forgotten how much more immersive the sound is.The Denon does all I want. Sound quality is excellent and I mainly use Bluetooth which is surprisingly close to cd quality. My cd collection has been getting some amount of use after sitting unused for years. I do have most of it saved on my MacBook and phone but it's step closer to using a turntable for the tactile experience and on the plus side I listen to whole albums again instead of just putting songs on shuffle. Its amazing what music I own but had forgotten aboutPity there is no phono input but I knew that before buying so this is not a grumble. My turntable is old school and does not have a phono amp so check this before buying as the salesman in JL advised me I could just use the analogue input. Not the advice you would get in a hi fi shop.No wifi streaming facility but again that was no surprise.Set up is simple. I do live in a house which has terrible radio reception so I continue to listen to stations via Satellite tv through the optical input which suits me.The little Denon speakers are very good indeed and fill my living room no problem.I did buy good 79 strand speaker cable in advance as I suspected the cable supplied with the speakers would either not be great quality or would be too short. Don't know about the quality but it was certainly too short for my use. Don't get why you would buy a system like this then sit the speakers a couple of feet apart.Very happy with the Denon and it lives up to the What Hi Fi accolades.

Good sound, bad delivery and customer service
18 January 2023

The CD player/radio/bluetooth is excellent, as I expected based on earlier experience with Denon, but two issues lowered my rating: First, it's not possible to buy this CD/Bluetooth unit in Canada without speakers. That option is possible in other countries and would be appreciated by people like myself who already have higher-quality speakers than the ones that come with this package. Second, although the Denon website promises that all shipments will have signature upon delivery, mine was delivered without signature in the winter. The box was left outdoors in snow and sub-zero temperatures for more than 24 hours without any notification. The box is clearly marked as Denon stereo equipment, ideal for theft. The irresponsible shipping service and poor customer service will discourage me from buying from Denon again.

Great Sound - Poor reliability
18 December 2023

Purchased this after seeing a Review in "What Hi-Fi" when I received it one of the speakers was damaged. I had this replaced. after around 12 Months its started playing up, constantly rejecting C.D's for no reason. I don't use the C.D player very often, so for it to fail so easily. At around 18 months the fault got worse and at nearly 2 Years it's un-usable. Just about got it covered by the 2 year Warrantee, but I have to take it to a store and there isn't one within 40 miles of where I live. Disappointed with product overall, great sound quality, but poor build and not over impressed with John Lewis Customer Services, had to argue about warrantee and when it started, as was told it was when I ordered, rather than when I received it.

Great sound. Poor build quality
23 July 2024

I bought one of these 8 years ago when it was very positively reviewed as one of the best small CD players on the market. Then 4 years had it repaired to fix a jammed CD drawer and sticking CD laser. Four years on, the CD drawer is jamming again and the CD laser is skipping even on brand new CDs. Aaargh! No point in getting it serviced - that would be throwing good money after bad. However hurrah for the John Lewis Tech Trade deal where I can buy a new unit and get rid of the old responsibly.

Impressed

I have had this little gem in a rather large living room. One should not believe it would work, but it does. I upgraded with Dali Oberon 5 speakers at it worked too! I didn't believe it would. I mostly play jazz with low to medium volume, therefore maybe. If I play rock music, it struggle. So I think of an upgrade, and wonder: What is the main difference between Ceol N10 and N12? 5W? Both can have my Denon DP400 record player connected, I guess.

This is a great little stereo. The speakers work well on stands near a back wall. It's nice to have bluetooth but you can hear the improvement using CD or a digital input from a good streaming source. You can adjust bass and treble in 2dB increments which is useful. It comes with foam plugs to attenuate the bass by putting them in the bass ports but I've found them unnecessary in my small room. It's a joy to listen to music again through decent equipment.

Bit early in the day to give an exact appraisal as I have only just purchased this item (thus my rating). However, first impressions are good. Very easy to set up and happy with the sound quality for the price I paid. Able to connect my turntable/old Bose ipod player to the system using the analog in port. Purchased an additional telescopic aerial for DAB radio rather than using the included ribbon type. This gave good DAB radio reception as compared to absolutely no reception without the aerial. On the downside I think the remote control could do with some work. Its size is a little large when considering the compact size of the system and there is no remote CD open/close option available.Overall you gets what you paid for.
