Designed for the aspiring music enthusiast, enjoy your favorite CD’s with the Denon DCD-600NE CD Player. With Denon-proprietary AL32 Processing technology, combined with an innovative circuitry structure, ensure recordings are accurately reproduced and beautifully faithful to the original sound. More than a CD player, the DCD-600NE supplies the even higher quality audio signals to the amplifier. Vibration-resistant design reduces adverse audio effects of heavy components within amplifiers, guaranteeing the sound quality meets rigorous Denon standards. And with a more than 100-year legacy of crafting audio components, trust Denon to achieve amazing sound that exceeds your expectations. AL32 Processing The DCD-600NE is equipped with AL32 Processing, a proprietary analog waveform reproduction technology from Denon. AL32 Processing utilizes data interpolation algorithms, which add in the points that should exist before and after large quantities of data, smoothing out the waveform and restoring information that was lost during the digital recording. The resulting playback is highly detailed, free of interferences, richly expressive in the lower range and beautifully faithful to the original sound. Listen to songs as the artist intended. CD, CD-R/RW, MP3 and WMA Support Enjoy extended disc support for your cherished music collection. The DCD-600NE plays back your CD's, CD-R/RW, MP3 and WMA formats. Listen to your favorite audio formats and feel the powerful fidelity DCD-600NE provides. Build Integrity With Thoughtfully Selected Components With more than a 100-year legacy of designing premium audio components, trust that your Denon product has undergone rigorous testing. The overall aesthetic, sound quality and design integrity of DCD-600NE and its Hi-Fi components are built to last. Advanced Circuitry with Minimized Signal Paths The circuit patterns in the DCD-600NE are thoughtfully engineered to make signal paths as short as possible. With layered circuit boards and shorter circuits, the interference between circuits and left and right channels is reduced, and the adverse influences on audio signals are minimized. As a result, the circuit paths in the DCD-600NE reproduce sound that’s clean, highly transparent and faithful to the original recording. Vibration-Resistant Design for Pristine Sound Vibration-resistant design reduces the adverse audio effects of heavy components within amplifiers so that sound quality meets Denon standards. The power transformer is fitted immediately above the insulators to prevent unwanted vibration. By placing the transformer close to the foot, the vibration surrounding the chassis is reduced, resulting in pristine sound. This design is referred to as Direct Mechanical Ground Construction. With a metal bracket connecting the CD mechanism and chassis to the high-density feet, unwanted resonance is further reduced to deliver pristine sound.

I originally purchased a Denon DCD800NE from Richer Sounds some time ago to replace a 30-year-old Philips model. Unfortunately the 800 became intermittently faulty before refusing to work at all. Two 'repairs' were unsuccessful and it was returned to me in the same state as before. I was then offered a replacement unit but the Norwich branch had no more 800s in stock, so I accepted a DCD600 plus a refund of the price difference. I have had it for over a year now and I am generally pleased with it. I cannot detect any difference in sound quality between the two, though the 600 lacks the 800's headphone input. All in all I recommend it as a good buy in its price range.

Excellent CD player. I bought this to replace a faulty Rega Apollo R (great sounding - but see below! - and looking machine although utterly unreliable; unable to fault Rega however as they gave me a full refund after eight months of frustration, two attempted repairs and one complete, and equally unreliable, replacement). I listened to several CD players before settling on the Denon (Roksan Caspian M2 CD, Musical Fidelity M2SCD, Marantz CD6007 and Rotel CD11 Tribute), but found the Denon to sound just as good to my ears as any of these (I use the analogue output on my CD players and generally notice only subtle differences in sound, as goes the digital outputs - all other things being equal - virtually all CD players sound the same as far as I’m concerned). For less than half the price of the Rega Apollo R, and a fifth of the price of the Naim CD5Si in my main system, the Denon DCD 600NE is an absolute bargain.I use the Denon in my secondary system which is comprised of a Cyrus 82DAC, ATC SMC7 speakers and REL T5+ subwoofer. The Denon may be the cheapest part of this puzzle but it fits in perfectly. There is also a Yamaha CDS300 in this system which actually does have a noticeably different sound, slightly softer and warmer via analogue (this works very well on old jazz recordings - transfers of 78s etc), but overall I do notice this difference and prefer the sound of the Denon on virtually everything else.I have no hesitation in saying that, if I had to replace another CD player tomorrow then I’d buy this Denon again at the drop of a hat. I like the ergonomics and aesthetics of my Naim CD5Si in my main system but it isn’t worth five times the price of the Denon, and it’s debatable whether the slight difference in sound would actually be considered an improvement to every person’s ears. Essentially, if you need a simple CD player without USB (isn’t that these days an even bigger anachronism on a CD player than the CD player itself?), aren’t interested in SACDs, and you like the physical styling of this machine then it has to rank as a clear first choice.Initially, I was slightly put off the Denon by its tethered mains lead, but this makes no difference to the sound and at least it can’t come loose and fall out accidentally. The build quality is good and solid, the display (whilst rather on the faint side) can be dimmed or turned off completely if desired, and the mechanism is as good as silent.Kudos to Lewis at Richer Sounds in Boscombe who sorted out an immediate audition of a Marantz CD6007 and Rotel CD11 Tribute for me on my walking into their store. He connected everything up precisely as I requested, did not interfere in my listening session, was genuinely knowledgeable about the products and gave helpful, unbiased and accurate advice without any hard-sell. The Denon was ordered by telephone a few days later, price matched and delivered quickly by (the ever reliable, in my experience) DPD. No wonder Richer Sounds are so highly rated.

Bought this as part of a bundle deal with Denon Amp. Returning to having vinyl and wanted a good set up which I believe this is. Obviously got a ton of CD’s so this was a good match for the amp. Great quality from Denon, loads of features and sounds amazing. Very easy set up straight out the box and Stephen from Richer sounds have me a great deal and helped supply all the cables required. Delivered faster than expected so all good. Richer sounds say they want to keep customers for life, can’t see why I’d go elsewhere with service like this! Thanks!

I bought this to replace a Marantz CD player bought in 1988 and well used ever since. I am playing it through a 42 year old NAD 3020 Amp and Mordaunt Short MS235 speakers, made in England in 1972, or Sennheiser HD 430 headphones. I play music for an average 2 hrs a day.My impression is that the sound is a bit cooler and more defined than the Marantz but my ears are getting used to it and I am enjoying listening. Music listened to: Corelli, Handel, Mozart, Lou Reed, Kraftwerk, Villalobos (Ricardo), John Coltrane, Monty Alexander, etc., etc., etc.So...good sound, feels like excellent build quality. If it lasts 35 years like the Marantz I'll be a very happy 101 year old, might need a new amp and speakers by then though.
I bought this Denon CD player on the recommendation of Jay at the Brighton store as a replacement for my old Cambridge Audio unit which had just given up the ghost after several years. It looks and sounds excellent for the money and is exactly what I was looking for - I can’t imagine that a more expensive player could sound significantly better. I wanted a black one which they didn’t have in stock, but Jay arranged for free delivery to my home the next day and it promptly turned up shortly after 9.00 am. Excellent service and product knowledge from Richer Sounds - you couldn’t ask for more.
Already done a five star review for this CD player which I bought a few weeks ago. No negatives so far. Very pleased with its sound which, although I think the sonic differences between CD players is mostly quite subtle, clearly has more “get up and go” to it than either the Yamaha or NAD players that share the same system with it (don’t ask me why). It compares very well with the (sadly completely unreliable) Rega Apollo R player which it replaces. Furthermore, the mechanism is quiet and the build quality is very good. The Rega Apollo was a very stylish half-width unit that looked great in the system (along with a half-width Cyrus 82DAC), but unquestionably I’d prefer something that worked without fuss any day - and something which sounds as good, works faultlessly ... I use a Naim CD5Si in my main system and, while I haven’t yet compared the Denon and the Naim directly, my general feeling is that if I did then I wouldn’t find much difference in sound. The Naim now costs over four times more, it’s built like a tank (by comparison), has better quality components on the inside and a manual drawer mechanism which I much prefer to normal CD drawer trays (and especially to slots), but if I had to replace it tomorrow then I might just go out and get another DCD 600NE and put the difference in price towards a good holiday!
I visited the Richer Sounds Middlesbrough store to look for a cd player after my faithful Arcam Alpha One crashed after well over 20 years of excellent service. I had a budget in mind and originally decided on a Rotel which was on offer and had good reviews. Unfortunately I was not able to listen to it before buying. I was offered the use of the display model to bring home and try prior to buying. Living well over 30 miles from the store I decided to take the chance and just bought a new one and brought it home. Imagine my bitter disappointment when the unit would not read any cd. I tried various albums but to no avail. I immediately phoned the store, and they offered to replace the faulty unit, and would arrange the exchange by courier due to the distance from my home to the Middlesbrough store.Having been disappointed by the new unit being faulty straight out of the box I was reluctant to accept another unit of the same make. The guys in the store were very apologetic and understanding.I decided to change the unit for the Denon DCD600NE, which was slightly more expensive but still within my budget.I have to say I am delighted with this unit. Very revealing musically, it has renewed my interest in my cd collection. I am now going through a phase of “I wonder what this sounds like?” I have quite an eclectic mix of music, from heavy rock, vocal, classical and even a bit of brass! It all sounds great!Excellent cd player, and excellent service from the guys at Richer, Middlesbrough. One happy man!!
For the last twenty or so years I’d cherished a Kenwood cd separate which had recently begun to show its age; impersonating Arkwright’s till when opening the cd tray to swap cds (open, close, done!). Richer Sounds are my go-to, so I reviewed what replacements were available and what funds I had down the back of the sofa; landing on the Denon. My anticipations were not disappointed once the new player was connected - it honestly felt like I had taken cotton wool out of my ears and i instantly berated myself for not having done this sooner. The additional dynamic to my music was instantly noticeable; not just by me but by the whole family and it has encouraged a renewed interest in a lot of my old discs, just so I can hear how they sound. I bought this player a couple of weeks ago, from the "Canadian" Denon website. It arrived eventually-a week later than promised- from the USA. It seems to work well, and sounds perfectly acceptable. It also plays CD-R discs with no problems, though it is slow to 'Read' the disk before playing it. The display is minimal - I'm accustomed to the better display on my Rotel RCD-1072 and on my 30 year-old Rotel CD changer.
