Having various shades of black gives me a bigger range of colour options for my work. Easier than having one shade & trying to use pressure smoothly to gain same shade over larger area. Quality is beautiful. Try Derwent ranges of coloured pencil crayons with confidence.

One if the most useful colours in the entire gamut of Derwent coloured pencils. Beautiful on its own, subtle, low key, one of the best blending agents for creating shadows due to its content of pink and brown. Derwent should not discontinue these Artists pencils that have served artists for do long, my heart goes out to loyal users of the Artists brand line, counting me among them as it has been a staple for us. Remember brand loyalty has to do with being able to rely on a company's continued production of certain products.

The color of the Water Green watercolor pencil is beautiful! I have used this pencil to put highlights in the latest watercolor painting of kitchen herbs to lighten certain areas of the leaves. I also bought the May Green pencil to use for spring tree leaves and shrubs.

Derwent Watercolor Pencils are great for a travel pouch. When wet they have wonderful concentrated color and when dry they are permanent. The Soectrum Orange makes a great drawing pencil.
I have been using Derwents for the last 40 odd years and I cannot fault their versatility for my book Illustrations.Add the matt fixative and your work will stay clean and add another layer for you to work on.Great products.
There are several pencils with leads that just crumble and cannot sharpen. Colors aren't very vibrant. Some of the leads aren't even close to being centered.I'm sure i just got a bad batch.
So far, out of 3 different brands, these are my favorite! They are reasonably affordable without sacrificing quality!I will definitely be adding the rest of their colors to my collection in the future.
These are high quality and easy to use pencils and I love having them all in one place in a beautiful wood storage case. I first began using them with my first grade class to color in an Egyptian mural they created. By first using the pencil like a crayon to fill in the color then coming back with a wet paint brush they were able to "paint" their mural with much greater control than they were able to do with traditional paint. These pencils can be used without applying water , as I've described or with wet water color paper and the pencils then applied. Love them. Highly recommend them and if you use a color a lot, they are available from some art stores for sale individually.
My favorite is Water color pencils. These are smooth with vibrant colors that look great when water is added.I will buy them again. I like being able to buy just the colors I need and use most.
I love Derwent products, and these are no exception. They blend well and are nice and soft, and I love using them by themselves and with other media. I initially thought I would only need a set of 12, but I kind of wish I had bought a little bigger set.
