The way I find myself using these the most often though is in adult coloring books because you can use them dry or wet, and when you do have to add water you only need a slight dab so it’s not going to get out of hand and ruin the integrity of the paper if ones not meant to handle wet media. Overall I will say these Derwent Inktense pencils are a great choice for artists of any skill levels they allow you to experiment at a great price point with unbeatable quality and performance!

Beautiful Vibrant Colours

Beautiful vibrant colours. My only quibble was that the colour range was limited . I regret not buying the larger tin but I have purchased extra colours. The pencils are soft enough to apply a good quantity which gives depth of colour when moistened. The outliner is useful to accentuate detail. Overall I have been impressed

Colour my life

Love the versitility, it's a pencil, and you can draw and colour just like pencils. But, add water, either soaking the paper and drawing on it, or brushing water onto your drawing, it becomes ink. Dilute even further, it becomes water colours. Draw on fabric for colour fast decoration. Very easy to use. Graduation of colour is easy and you can blend out the pencil stokes so it looks like paint. The only thing missing in this small set is white, but all the colours are intense! I can now recognise artists and fabric designers that use Inktense from the colours.

Great pencils

I purchased these for my artsy teen and he loves them. He's exploring new mediums and this is definitely something he will continue to use. Good for new artist

Great working qualities, some colour changes needed in tin's 24 range.

Bright colours. Blend well. Wet down effectively. Can be worked on soon after drying. Would appreciate more landscape colours, eg. ochres, olive green in tins 24 set.

I love these, they're so easy to use with stunning results

I bought these because they were 'different' and sounded interesting.They are so easy to use and the results are amazing. You would never believe that the pencil marks that you make can turn into such vibrant colours.They blend so easily and you can layer them easily too.I even bought more colours!

I really loved using this product with the inktense blocks on linen and paper. As an ink rather than a dye or paint it has great potential.

I loved the fine details you can get with this product on linen while using a water spray, also tried it with textile medium and aloe Vera as a fixative. The blocks work well too,as they leave a massive amount of pigment on the fabric this needs to be used sparingly as it is harder to prevent crumbling and spreading if then washed. As an ink this product is dye fast when wet but can wash out if the fabric has been pre-dyed as with a silk scarf I had previously dyed and printed with batik. Inktense can be used on paper too and works well with other media as many artists have shown

Unique product......fun to use!

I purchased the Derwent Inktense pencil set to use along with my other full size sets of colored pencils. The Derwent packaging is very attractive with an artist's rendition of a peacock using the Inktense pencils. The flat case is protective metal, with each pencil nestled in its own slot in two plastic lift out trays. After initially playing with the pencils and laying down lines of color to gauge the solubility of the pigment I was pleased to find that the transparency of the Derwent colors and fluid movement of the dissolved pigment mimicked watercolors. Additonally, I could pick up areas of color with a tissue or a paintbrush to varying degrees BEFORE the paper support dried. After that the color was permanent. Vibrant colours and easy to carry around!

I have used Inktense pencils for years. They are so easy to use and to carry around. There are so many ways ways to use them and to produce vibrant and interesting paintings. I take them to Italy every year and record many places that we have seen. Sometimes I use them to make preparatory sketches prior to using oils or Acrylics. At other times I produce ink paintings in their own right. I bought this set as a present for a close friend who has been wanting to try them for ages. These were great value for money as these pencils can be very expensive. I know he's going to love them! I'd recommend them to any one who wants to make quality art with a few pencils and a waterbrush!
