It goes off when pointing at random objects like a metal pipe. I tried it on another piece of pipe and the same thing happened. I guess its better going off ALL the time, as it won't kill you. But it will slowly starve your children through lost work hours.

Extremely unsafe and should not be sold tbh. Cheap plastic and unreliable signals, definitely do not buy. You can't tell if it's on or not or out of battery unless testing it on power.
This was a waste. Do not bother.
Volt tester works well but has its flaw
simple to use, just watch out for the let flying off when removing it to replace batteries, or turning on and off.
