I purchased 2 of these switches. One worked perfectly with the Grid Connect APP, the other worked totally differently to the first one with missing features and a different user interface. On contacting support, it turns out that I had unknowingly purchased Series 1 stock that is over 3 years old. Look on the back of the packaging for the small "Series 2" marking. (see photo) (The Series 1 version has no markings as to what version it is) The Series 1 version is missing the OFF timer and logging features and the user interface in the grid connect app is terrible and inconsistent with the Series 2 version. Support have offered to provide a replacement Series 2 version to resolve my issues. Recently replaced some floor lamp bulbs with smart bulbs and liked how they can run on a schedule to turn on and off without touching them. Wanted to do the same for some house lights but doing multiple bulbs wasn't practical, and so having the light switch changed was the next best option. Got the Deta Grid Connect one as we already had some Grid Connect bulbs/wall plugs. Easy for sparky to fit, just had to trim the gyprock to fit as larger body then original 3x switches. Paired up easily, renamed each switch to its function, and within seconds all appeared in Alexa and I could turn on/off at panel or with voice. I have a heap of Smart Bulbs which are screwed into the light fitting and the switch at the wall has to be left turned on for them to work 'smartly'. Visitors / kids / wives have a tendency to turn that switch off at the wall which turns it back to a basic old manual light and removes all of the smart features of it. This switch has to be installed by an electrician, so factor that cost into your purchase. It is a great solution however because even if somebody turns it off at the wall, it is still 'smart' and will operate on the timer / motion sensor / voice control with the added benefit of being able to manually turn it on & off. This is excellent and super easy to connect to my Alexa Echo. Having tried and failed with a zigbee device (supposed to connect to the Echo’s built in zigbee hub but doesn’t) I tried a low cost Arlec grid connect light bulb as an experiment. It worked a treat so I installed this switch - immediately went into pairing mode and was automatically discovered by Alexa in seconds. Very happy and will be buying more of these.
Pros: 1. Make the smart switch with voice/app- control with google home, alexa 2. I figured out that Grid Connect are recognizable in the Tuya/Smart Life ecosystem. So I added them in the SmartLife app and I am not using Grid Connect as I already have 25 other devices in SmartLife. Cons: 1. Every time switched ON/Off the button makes a loud click noise. More annoying during quiet of the night. 2. Would love to see Zigbee version of this series of switches, as the Hub would take care of communicating with the smart devices rather than the already busy wifi router-modem (which has a limitation on number of devices it can connect)
Can’t comment on installation because I hired a professional, but functionality is exactly what I’d expect. Grid connect does seem to have some issues being ‘offline’ to my google mini, but I have no issues through either app. I paired with smart lights because I also wanted dimming/zone control so the google mini connection doesn’t effect me often. I haven’t updated the firmware on the bedroom switch so I don’t have the led issue others are experiencing. Setting up 2-way through the app was simple - they have a 1 pager that’s easy to follow. There is a delayed click when you press them, but no louder than a traditional switch would be.

Hook them up through your Google Assistant and BAM, voice controlled lights. No more issues when you leave s lights on in another room, just tell Google to turn them off! If you want to test these out I would recommend starting with the front (outside) lights. These are brilliant when you come home to a dark house and need to turn the front lights on from your phone... although be warned that once you've tried them you will want to convert your whole house! Works as expected. We installed a lot of these touch switches to assist an elderly person who has trouble operating traditional rocker switches. There are ideal for this purpose because there do require any pressure or dexterity to operate. We did not deploy the wireless or remote control functionality.

They work as they should and integrate with many other brands of items (many that can't be bought at Bunnings). There is a small white light that always glows to indicate that the internal electronics is working. These are great for finding the switches in the dark, especially for people that have less than perfect vision. Minor downsides for these are: - A neutral wire is required for these to work. Some older homes may not have a neutral wire at the switch point. - The cutout required to fit the electronics of these units is at the extremes of a standard power point. If your light switch was already a tight fit above or below a noggin, then this will require some additional massaging to fit. - Your WiFi coverage needs to be decent. PLEASE invest in a decent WiFi Access Point setup if using these and don't use WiFi Extenders or Repeaters as they are pure garbage. If you have the money to spend on automating your home, don't skimp on the WiFi!
We installed a series of these products to assist an elderly person who has trouble operating conventional rocker or push buttons switches. Since these need only a light touch they are a good solution. We did not deploy the wireless or remote functions. Unfortunately these are only a single-pole single-throw (SPST) for each mech. It would be great if one or both were single-pole double-throw (SPDT) so they could work with standard mechs in double-switched installations.
