Having bought a cheaper make of polisher that was very disappointing and sent back.Save your money and pay the extra this is a fantastic tool make sure you have two batteries 4.0 AH or higher you will need two for a car the higher the better 18v of course. I am just looking into if you can buy a 75m back plate for this machine to polish hard to get places on the car if any one has any advice.

This was a step up for me from the dewalt random orbital sander and wow what a difference!Watched a few reviews online from different auto body shops and what I should be looking for in a polisher and the dewalt rates very highly. Very pleased with the purchase.The extra cost of the dewalt over non branded was only about an extra 20% after watching the reviews

Build quality and convenience.

High quality machine with plenty of power to abrade and polish many types of surfaces.As a cordless device, it is more expensive than many rival products, but it soon becomes obvious that it is worth paying more.A key feature is the ability to adjust the abrading / polishing speed to suit different grades (hardness) of pads for cutting and polishing pastes.Excellent all rounder.

DeWALT dual action polisher

Having used a corded rotary polisher for years, I felt it was time for and upgrade. Dual action polishers have a reputation for easier use and as batteries now give good life I favoured the cordless type. After extensive research I I favoured the DeWALT as it used common batteries,a reputable brand with 3 years warranty, price and reviews. Having now used the tool I can confirm that it has loads of power and good battery life, using one battery whilst the other is on fast charge gives near uninterrupted use. If there was any criticism it would be that there is a slight vibration, however this is minimal and is to be expected with the dual action. I have nothing but praise for the performance of the tool and having no cord eases use.

Bought this as it was cordless, dual action and I already had the battery setup. Used it with a light cutting compound to take out some fine scratches on my car paintwork and then waxed it. Really happy with this, did one panel/section at a time. Decent battery life and easy to use.

Using to compound and polish classic cars and its performance is excellent. Well made and nicely balanced unit with the benefit of no trailing cables to damage paintwork. Battery life even with a 2ah cell is enough to last for many panels and a bigger cell will complete a whole car comfortably. Unfortunately DeWalt don't acknowledge this model exists on their databasewhen trying to register for the 3 year warranty

Dewalt Best polisher for the $s

Just like all of the Dewalt products that I own this is a fantastic unit that does everything that I need. The Finnish that can be achieved with this polisher is highly professional and adds thousands to a vehicle without spending much at all. Love it just wish I had purchased one earlier.

Excellent tool for the car

It'll do other jobs but I bought this for bringing a proper shine to the car.It's a bit extravagant for my own application but it works a treat. As another has said, it's great that you're not dragging a cable across shiny paintwork and it just does the job.

Go cordless!

The big bonus with this polisher is that there is no cord to trip over or rub against the car paintwork. Used with some decent polishing pads, the variable speeds and 15mm eccentric throw ensures you don't burn through the lacquer or create swirl marks. The end result is a very fine finish. It is quite heavy, but well balanced and, with a soft start is easy to control.The union is supplied without a battery but is fully compatible with the Dewalt XR system battery currently used with their other power tools; power consumption is good and, although I haven't exhausted a battery, would expect 15-20 minutes from a 2.0ah battery.It is a bit noisy but no more than most other tools of this type.A very nice machine to own and use!

Well made but just too loud.

I wanted a cordless polisher as I have no way of getting power to my car to use my makita rotary where I now live. The Dewalt solved this issue but created another, its deafening on full power and even on the lowest setting its very antisocial to use it in a residential area. My neighbours would go nuts if I used it for any length of time. I think its the DA action drumming against the car. Realistically its useless to me. I should have bought the rotary version.
