This small job required eight anchor bolt holes to be drilled. The new DEWALT drill performed at full power for all eight holes in commercial concrete. Surprised me that it would go the distance for a battery drill in concrete. It had a 9ah battery.

By far my nicest DeWalt drill. The power to size and weight ratio is incredible! It's also stronger than the dcd791 like they say. Even the light is better and insanely bright on the top setting. And for so much for milwacky saying they have the shortest drill. The metal chuck is very high quality as well as the trigger. I've used it mainly for metal drilling and sanding away rust with a hub attachment. Seems a little quieter than the 791 too. I don't think i would change a thing about this drill. Keep it up DeWalt!!

Great power in a small drill.I can sometimes be working with a drill in my hand for hours and the dewalt grip is so comfortable. There’s no hammer function, but I prefer that to be the case.Has an adjustable light that you can change the angle of the light to accommodate whatever situation you’re putting it in which I also like.Overall I am very happy with the drill and it fits my needs perfectly.

I have really enjoyed using this 20V MAX XR Brushless 1/2 Drill/Driver. I was working on building a platform and the drill works so nice and drives in screws so easily with no effort. I was diving in 3 inch screws with ease and precision. The high speed transmission to drive in screws works so nice and fast. The ergonomic grip handle makes holding the drill effortless. The LED is great and love the 20 min shut off feature. The compact size also makes it easy to fit into hard to reach areas.

The price has come way down but my first was very, very expensive. They can do anything but it was overkill and it's wear and tear on expensive tools.I have a few bottom and mid-level 20v DeWalt drills and they are all gutless, especially the angle drill. It's been frustrating.However, this DCD800 fits the bill perfectly, and it does so at entry level pricing. It's not tiny but it's much smaller than the 996. Great drill, should have got one a long time ago. I already have the bigger hammer drill and the 1/4" impact, which are both. I have some roofing to screw down and this was perfect for it, light and didn't skip like the impact can sometimes.I really like the LED light that can be angled to suit where you are drilling, bright and produces a good spread.The torque setting works well, a little stiff to start with but after adjusting to different settings a few times it soon loosened up.I just used one of my small capacity batteries to keep the overall weight down and it lasted for what I needed to do.Good grip and weight and nicely balanced - highly recommended.
We have a family tradition that each newborn get a custom rocking horse for their 1st Christmas or 1st Birthday. So this year I was able to make two of them for my twin grandsons. I still have to finish them with some adds but the wood working part is completed. I was able to use my new 20v max drill driver on the various applications in the assembly process. I had to drill and dowle pin mutiple locations for the assembly. This drill is so powerful and light weight that it made this process really easy. To hold , mutilple pieces and drill them accuratley can be challenging however with the compact size and light weight of this drill it was really a breeze. They are made with southern yellow pine which can be tough to drill due to the grains. It locked securley into the chuck and never broke a bit!. Paired with the 60 v battery I never had to change a battery in making 2 of these. Not to mention I also took this to work and was drilling out 2 1/8" holes in Southern yellow Pine with a forstner bit. I would highly recommend this drill to any homeowner or skilled professional. It is a great asset to anyones toolbox! I typically use my tools in my commercial construction business so they are used pretty hard and really put to the test! I own a small woodworking company and have used drills from multiple companies over the years. Most of the work I do doesn’t call for heavy hammer drills, so I’m mostly looking for something light, comfortable, but with enough power to get any job done (I know, sounds like the perfect tool, right??). For years my favorite drills were my Milwaukee 12 volt and Dewalt DCD791. Well, after using the new DCD800 for a couple weeks it has instantly become my go to! It has just as much power as any other drill I have and comes in a smaller package. I really like the adjustable LED light which is a fantastic addition. The more compact size compared to my other Dewalt drills makes it easier to use for an entire day. This drill has certainly been a great addition to my shop!
I was expecting this drill to be the new version of DeWalt's standard 2-speed drill, with a slightly new look. I was surprised when I opened the box by the level of improvements and new features -- I didn't know that the standard drill could be really improved on, but DeWalt has in at least 3 major ways:1) Shorter head length with high torque - the first thing that surprised me was how short the head of this drill is. The head is significantly (somewhere between 1-2 inches, I'd guess) than the standard DeWalt hammerdrill that I currently have, and is only slightly longer than the DeWalt impact driver I have. Now, I can fit the drill almost as many places as I could fit the impact driver. There is a switch behind the light bar that allows you choose between (i) no light for the few times you don't want the light reflecting off of things and blinding you or don't want to waste your battery, (ii) the standard short-delay light that stays on a few seconds after you release the trigger, and (iii) a new 'flashlight' mode that allows you to switch the light on and actually use it like a flashlight. This drill is now my favorite multi-purpose tool - especially in dark areas (underneath a building, working in unlighted construction) - because of the compact size and the flexible lighting functions. Huge leap forward in lighting features.3) Balanced weight for heavy duty construction - I was surprised when I picked up this drill at how much 'heft' it had. It weighs more than the entry-level DeWalt hammerdrill, which makes sense because it has more torque. But what really surprised me when I clipped a battery on was how evenly balanced the weight was -- it was almost perfectly balanced, without trying to twist your hand one way or another. When you're using this for a long time, a 'little' thing like this really reduces fatigue.All in all, this is now hands down my favorite drill. It's hard to reimagine something like the drill, but DeWalt has done just that. I'm looking forward especially to the lighting features making it across their entire 20V product line.
Impressed with the upgraded features from the older DCD771 model cordless drill: the shorter more compact head can get into tighter spaces, the adjustable brightness LED light now on bottom with ability to adjust the direction, and the redesigned tool bit chuck which you hand twist much tighter with its ratchet like mechanism. I am mostly an advanced DIY I would say, but I’m now a regular volunteer out at Habitat for Humanity building houses - this drill has held up great during use all day long, only changing the battery once. The belt clip is a plus to keep it handy. Another quality Dewalt product!
