I think this will be a great work light. I bought this because it had the tripod mounting feature and tool connect where as Milwaukee does not. I also have Makita and Milwaukee cordless platform and was looking forward to breaking into the dewalt cordless platform. But without the tripod mount I may return it as well as the dewalt tripod that I purchased for the light.

I was able to put this work light to the test almost immediately. Our office building lost power and we needed to get to the main fuse box and pump room. I bought this lite (and Dewalt tripod) a month ago. The lite itself is bright and useful if you only want to hang it. But it is advertised as being able to mount to a tripod. But there is NO means of mounting it - certainly not any standard 1/4 x 20 thread mount. Now it's too late for me to return either and I can't use the tripod
I’ve been using it now for 7 months and it is definitely a great light when you need to light up a significant area. Best results are achieved if you can hang it up side down like a ceiling light. For that purpose the Bluetooth remote control is great. You only need to climb the ladder to change batteries.The latter is taxing unless you have 9 or 12 Ah ones. Reducing brightness helps to extend the batteries. We used this light as the main light in a 250 sq ft room for 3 months. 30% brightness was plenty and the 12Ah battery only needed changing once a day.

It does say tool only on the DeWalt website but I bought this through Lowe's. What I feel misleading is the fact when it talked about being battery operated it didn't mention 'not included' or 'sold separately' only that it works with all 20 volt batteries. Whereas you could put it on a tripod but that was sold separately, very distinctly you are made aware in multiple places on the site that the tripod was not included.Is very big and bulky which is not ideal. The brightest and most useful tool when you need light where it is dark. Just this one light lights up an entire basement like theres regular 60w bulbs throughout. Ive had/seen other lights (both corded and battery) and none of them come close to this one. I usually use my 8Ah 20volt battery in it and it lasts for about 5-6 hours on that and about 4-5 on a 5Ah. The Tool Connect feature is pretty cool as well allowing me to turn it on and off with my phone incase its up high and out of reach.
Wish I had read the reviews before I purchased two of these lights. Intended to mount them on tripods and like the others found out, there is not a 5/8 inch mounting hole to be found on either light base as advertised. That really sucks DeWalt! You let me down on these!

Not a deal breaker for me since I invested quite a few dollars in batteries. Ensuring they get used once in a while. Plus I don't always work in a place that is dark, just occasionally. It may be a bother, but used to the days when batteries weren't as good as they are now. Things may change, and we'll see 11 hours of use. I brought this as although unilite have great reviews I wanted something on the same platform as my power tools. However it is pricey given that there is no battery supplied. Max 2.5hours run time on 5Ah battery. It lasts better on flexvolt 9.0Ah batteries but still not all day. You need a minimum of x2 9.0Ah batteries to get you through the day. Obviously on full brightness as there are two settings. It would have been a nice touch to be able to plug it in also. So dual supply, mains or battery but sadly this wasn't thought of. I love DeWalt tools but seeing the run time on other manufactures portable lights it make me question the price. Lights up one room adequately or a loft. Time will tell if it's worth the money depending the hours run time on the LED.
