Got the kit 6 months ago and at first was impressed until I used the sawzall (DCS382) biggest disappointment ever. 20v/6ah I managed 15 minutes of cut time. 2 hour charge time. The blade literally spins side to side (wiggles) can't cut straight because blade moves . I use it to maintain a rc car race track 2x4 , plywood, all easy cut stuff. Went back to my 12 year old Ryobi sawzall.

Just got this great looking sawzall so far the performance and power of the sawzall has been amazing. This model seems to be lighter and a little bit more compact than the full-size model although smaller seems to be just as powerful. The only thing I wish for is that it was just a little bit more compact to get in to tighter spaces. I know that Dewalt makes a smaller one the hacksaw type. I have used similar style tools, and did not like that type of model. The hacksaw model for me was a lot harder to hold onto and you just can’t apply the constant pressure needed but that is for a totally different review. Cannot wait to see how long this DCS 382 model variable speed reciprocating saw last. Definitely recommend this product for all phases of construction. I have used DeWalt tools my whole construction career I will never use any other brand of tool. Thank you, Dewalt.

I like how powerful this saw is. You will definitely want a 5ah battery at least unless you are making very few cuts. It drains the small batteries rather fast. You can probably cut about 12 2x4s with a small battery. A con is that you can’t position the blade upside down or sideways like other models. The blade changing mechanism is difficult to twist with gloves on.

This saw replaced my 15-year-old Dewalt corded saw that finally gave up. This saw is well worth the value I paid. I did receive the promotional free 4.0Ah battery adding to its value. This saw is easy to use with the twist-style keyless blade clamp. It makes switching blade types and storing a breeze. The LED Light also helps when the job goes a little later in the night than expected. I would highly recommend this Dewalt reciprocating saw.
Had an old corded reciprocating saw that I hadn't used for years. I bought this cordless unit for 'free' when purchasing two of the new Powerstack batteries. Wasn't sure if I would even need it. Learned really fast that it works great as another item in my yard tools. I have a lot of trees that need trimming and a good assortment of brush besides. The portability of this tool makes it great for trimming small to medium branches or for cutting up larger branches that I've taken down with a pole saw. So far, I think I've used it more than most of my other DeWalt cordless tools. The Powerstack battery lasts longer than I choose to work so that's an added benefit. Don't even reach for my old manual bow saw anymore.
The product helped solve the problem for wet areas and the quick out and in without cords.Personal and professional experience went well with the product. (Expectation was it would be an ok product, but it was in reality a great product. Mentionable is the durability, can travel well, and made with quality material. It has convenience, style, comfort for use. Also did provide the cordless solution for an increase productivity and efficiency. This product would best fit the professional and/or personal use Would have liked to have known beforehand where this product was sold.
When you first pick up this new compact XR offering from DeWalt you will first notice the huge D handle housing the new two-finger trigger to be very large and comfortable. For those with gigantic mitts, paws or tool breakers you won't have 2 wedge your fat sausage looking digits in a trigger well anymore or take off your gloves to comfortably pull the variable speed trigger, that has the perfect amount of sensitivity without being dull or overly touchy. The sharp end of this chunker is surrounded buy an aesthetically pleasing rubber over mold highlighting the XR model and running back to the D handle, making it look like the middle portion of this saw has gone missing. The pivoting shoe is a nice touch to allow for more control, although it does not move in or out allowing for different blade position and cuts. Shame Dewalt! The saw boasts an inch and 1/8 throw that attempts to dislocate every joint, from your wrist to your shoulder. To say this saw is very eager to cut is an understatement. With the new powerstack battery, saw vibration is very noticeable and a larger battery helps to deaden the shake. The traditional box of rocks sound we've all come to love or hate from Dewalt seems to be louder than ever. With the Power Stack battery balance is nose heavy and I prefer a five or six Amp hour battery to better balance this tool in my hands. I felt no difference in power from the Power Stack to a 5 amp hour up to an 8 Amp Hour or even flexvolt battery. I was told this saw would act as a Power Detect and seek out available power of higher batteries, although it does not have this indicated on the body of the saw, I will have to verify this and will return to the review when I do. Overall this 'missing the middle saw' turns into our fantasy tool. Short, thick, and chunky the saw is beautifully designed and will be a great addition alongside the larger demo saws in anyone's arsenal.Only thing keeping it from full 5 stars is the shake! Whoa. The vibration is typical Dewalt
Holy cow, this thing exceeded my expectations my a mile. After doing research about the difference in power between the XR series and Atomic series, this was my choice. I have been nothing but impressed. The tool itself is so well balanced that it makes any job a breeze. I first used this on a home project involving treated 4x4s and this saw chewed right through them with no issues. The rubber grip makes it incredibly easy to hold onto. Would highly recommend this!
Good quality tool. Normal amount or vibration. I use a set of 3 amp hour battery's with this tool. Definitely recommend that or a 5 amp hour. Anything smaller and you'll be switching battery's alot. But for me I like to keep the tool as light as possible. I cut up a bunch of scrap the day I got it just to make sure it was good. It seemed to have the same power as my old faithful corded version.
Brushless, cuts everything I need it to. I like the two-finger trigger which is more ergonomic, especially when I need to turn the saw upside down. The price was right (free with the purchase of two batteries). tool and batteries can get hot when powering through big jobs and required extra batteries. Dewalt has a different reciprocating saw (not brushless and without a two-finger trigger) which allows the blade to be installed sideways for flush cutting near a floor or other obstruction.
