I am so in to vacuums with 3 dogs. I own 11 now with this Dewalt being the newest member to my collection. I chose it because we already have 3 of the batteries for our cordless tools and I know this brand is great. I needed a good cordless with a hose for quick pick-ups around the house and this was it. I do think those with large hands will have trouble with it because of the location of the switch, but if that isn't an issue then it's perfect. Good power and suction and if you already have batteries on hand then you do not need to worry about batteries dying. I will mention that WalMart was the only reputable company that sold it as a vacuum alone without the battery. Lowe's sells it with the battery for about $100 more. A terrific handheld vacuum. It is lightweight, even with my 4 Ah battery. It has good suction and a good filter-no dust flying out the exhaust. I love the way the extension hose is easily removable for use though it would be better if it could swivel since you are likely to hold the vacuum backwards when using it. Another con is that it doesn't hold much so expect to empty it frequently. I also like that it has a corrugated style filter (think circular engine air filters in the days of carburetors) compared to slip on bag or paper style filters like many shop vacuums; this allows it to last longer between cleanings/changes and I think provides a better seal. Lastly, the construction feels solid and durable. Hopefully the motor matches the body.

I have the 'B' version (no battery or charger) since I have an array 20V Max tools. For the size the suction is good, the bin is easy to dump, but there are several design items that could have made this a much better product.* It needs hooks for a shoulder strap. It is small enough, and with the flexible hose if it had a strap that would free one's two hands to make clean up jobs easier.* The power switch needs to be in a better location. Too many times I am working in a tight space while holding it, and inadvertently bump the switch and turn it off.* It needs some missing accessories: 1-Since the hose comes off with a bayonet attachment it would be great to have the option of a longer hose. 2-The longer hose could have a 90 deg end to allow other attachments ... MoreI have the 'B' version (no battery or charger) since I have an array 20V Max tools. PROS: easy to empty-easy to carry-uses standard 1.25 inch diameter attachments-versatile-uses same battery as my other dewalt tools-good suction for a hand held vacuum-decent battery run time CONS: does not come with any attachments-No on-board tool storage-no blower option like many shop vacs have-exhaust blows out the sides and often blows around the stuff you are trying to vacuum up( found a remedy for this on e bay)-on/off switch is in a goofy spot and sometimes gets bumped while vacuuming OVERALL, this is a nice little vacuum for around the house quick cleanups and will be nice for the camper too. More than likely, I would purchase another one. Its definitely better than my wifes dust buster!
Wet/dry vac with cartridge air filter. Not just your typical Dustbuster with a 3 foot flexible hose that pulled out of the yellow nozzle. I find it great for dryer lint that escaped and for pet hair left behind on the rubber ring of a front load washer.
Not going to win any beauty contests but it sure works well. My wife has bought and complained about 3 hand-held vacs for around the house. I finally decided to see if I could lend her a real tool... and so I bought this. It's not incredibly strong- but it is incredibly stronger than anything else she has had. She was also impressed with the removable hose. I've used it too of course and I find the hopper to be plenty big for normal small job cleanup... although that's a big part of what makes this thing ugly. It's 90% function and 10% looks. My only complaints are it is rather large for around-the-house stuff but then of course that's not what it is designed for. Long of the short- it's the most powerful "hand-held" you're going to find, and you'll likely never run ... MoreNot going to win any beauty contests but it sure works well. I used a 5A on this thing for hours and it is still going.
It could have more power, maybe there will be an XR version eventually. It's very portable and it's great that the hose comes off the end if need be. It's perfect for a vehicle or around the house sucking up stuff you don't want in your household vacuum. Even a 2 AH battery does well enough on the unit. It's perfect for cleaning up kid messes in the truck. If you need more options there is a cube style one on the market.
For times when I don't want to lug out my large shop vac for quick clean ups, and even liquid spills, this cordless DeWalt vacuum is fantastic. It's got enough power to do the intended work, and the design makes it simple to just grab, snap on a battery, and use. Being able to detach the hose to get into smaller spots, is a bonus, so I can do a quick vac of my cars or get between cabinets in the garage. I also love that it's a wet vac. When household spills happen I can spray some cleaner scrub the area, and suck up the mess with this right away. It's quick and easy to empty the bin, just one quick latch, brush off the filter dump it out and back ready to work it is. Run time depends on which DeWalt battery you use, I have different ones from 2ah to 6ah, and I've never had to swap a battery yet during use. I just Love Vacuums ! And this portable 20volt max DeWalt vacuum, just makes me smile from ear to ear.
Small vacuum cleaners are usually not that great. This one is different. It went from being used to clean up saw dust from wood working, to now cleaning up everything in the house. It never gets put away, it is always handy and ready to use. The power is solid and strong, the removable hose is a great. I only have one gripe, and it's a nit pick. I don't like where the on/off switch is as I've accidentally turned it off while holding it a couple times. I kind of wish it was a bit bigger, but that would take away from the ease of use. It's light weight, powerful and very effective. So much so I don't use my bigger vacuums that much anymore.
The vacuum is a good compromise between compact portability and capacity, which I need for my woodshop. The suction is strong enough to remove wood chips from crevices of woodworking machines, reducing the need to drag my full sized vacuum around my crowded shop. The unit is very well made, and it is easy to empty and to deploy the short hose for small spaces. My only criticism is that the exhaust ports are on the sided and blow outwards. Thus in some orientations the airflow is directed at the very debris that youre trying to remove, moving it away from the vacuum nozzle. The design should be modified to direct the exhaust upwards
