Great little toolbox. I use TSTAK to house my Dewalt 12v MAX system. This smaller box has enough room for say, a small drill/driver and a small impact driver. The 12v tools work perfectly for this. The boxes are well constructed and should last a long time, even with less-than-tender care. I would recommend using the larger deep boxes, though, with the larger 20v MAX system.

I purchased 6 of these and found the foam inserts that Dewalt also makes for them. I have several Dewalt tools that don't have cases, so these in combination with the foam inserts are perfect for customizing hard cases to fit my router, jigsaw, reciprocating saw, cutout tool, and two palm sanders. Five of these are 20V tools and there is enough space to store batteries, chargers, and some accessories depending on the tool. The foam inserts are a must to keep the tools protected during transport and makes things more organized. The cases themselves are very nice quality and seem to be very durable. They lock securely and the ability to stack and lock the cases together vertically is a handy feature for storing or moving multiple tools at once. The carry handles are comfortable and assist in moving the tools when stacked or singly. There is a nice clear covered label space for marking the contents of the box. I currently have four loaded and stacked/locked together; while having some weight to them, they are still easy to pick up and move around the garage when necessary. Overall I am very pleased with the quality and features of these cases. They will fit any brand of tool, but have the Dewalt logo on the outside of the case if that is important to you. I purchased the foam inserts at Home Depot and highly recommend them since they are cut to fit the inside of the case snuggly and have the "pick foam" feature to easily pull out the pieces you need to custom fit your tool for storage.

These are compatable with CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK items too, and those are cheaper. Quality is identical between the two, and the only reason i could ever see to buy the dewalt stuff for this is to have some baller points, or you caught it on a sweet sale! Its great stuff and works very efficiently on the go! I have 2 CFT deep storage boxes, this stubby locking box, and a CMCST17510 jobsite radio up top, all rolling on a DEWALT TSTAK 17" rolling box with the handle. carries `60lbs worth of stuff with very little difficulty at all. Dont pull it off the sidewalks, or thru gravel or grass, you WILL bust up the latches and wheels! Use sense and this system is very cost efficient and helpful!

So far, I really like this tool box system. I don't use the foam to stabalize my tools, but if I had some expensive Hilti or Festools, I can see using it.I do maintenance for an apartment complex and this system makes it really easy. I just stack and wheel what I need!As well, from time to time I have to go fill in for another tech at another location and this system makes loading and unloading a breeze!I recommend you evaluate your tools before purchasing so you can correctly purchase what you need. The only down side is if you have a lot of tools like I do, this system can become an expensive investment. I purchased 3 complete systems to start with, and I need more already.
The mid size TStak is perfect for a single drill, trim router or jig saw and plenty of space to include accessories as well as a battery. I used the Dewalt foam insert which is a perfect fit to the storage case and allows for great custom fitting of your items. And with the ability to stack them together with other cases, allows you to customize each case for a particular project.
I have five of these and two of the deeper models. They stack together on a roller base and store all my Dewalt cordless tools plus drill and saw accessories. I have the second deep one to store my Kreg accessories. can roll them around and separate easily to get to case I need.
I have now purchased about a dozen of these. I mostly have the Dewalt branded ones, but there is another brand that is identical except for the branding and those are equal to these. You can also find the no longer carried by Rockler version of this with storage bins inside. There is a nice place to put a label so you know what is hiding inside each one. I have drill drivers, an entire one with batteries and chargers, drill accessories, etc. You can stack them and they will lock together. You can find a roll around cart or a flat base on wheels. The system overall is nice and the locking stacking feature makes movement easy. I just select the boxes I need for the task at hand, stack them together and go do the job.I also found cubed foam inserts elsewhere made for ... MoreI have now purchased about a dozen of these. I needed a small box for various essential tools that would fit inside the toolbox on my truck. Dimensionally, this one was perfect and has plenty of room for an assortment of tools. The box is extremely sturdy and has 2 convenient handles allowing it to be carried different ways. It should last for many years of hard use.
Very happy with this tool box. It has the quality of Dewalt. The price is great. The size is moderate. Not large enough to fit all your tools, but it is designed to be part of a multiple tool box suystem that locks together and can be moved on wheels or a dolly. The size allows separation of tools and the convenience of easily searching the box for a specific tool. I read reviews and the three complaints I saw were quality, plastic locks, and water leaks. This box is well designed of heavy plastic with two handles on top and on the side.. It has metal clips, not plastic clips like cheaper tool boxes. When closed and locked, it should not leak in the rain unless submerged up to the lid. The TSTAK system is very innovative, but only TSTAK tool boxes lock together (Dewalt does sell other tool boxes that do not work with the TSTAK system). Note: this box has no tray and no dividers.
This review is for the DeWalt DWST17807 TSTAK II - Flat Top Box. Its part of the DeWalt stacking system. I dont use it as a stacking tool box , but as a sturdy box to hold two Makita 18volt 5" grinders with extra cut off wheels, wire wheels and grinding wheels. It all fits nicely and keeps my investment safe and sound. Too bad Makita doesn't make boxes this durable.
