It’s a sturdy. Well built box water seal is nice. Wheels are strong with no wobble. Fits great in my truck bed. Holds all my tools in one place and it mobile.

I’ve read about multiple latch failures, leaking boxes and cracks from nothing more than an empty box turnover.... and here I am rolling in on my 4th winter with my box that never comes in out of the weather. From 104 deg F in the back of my truck, to -36 deg F.... latching and unlatching, mind you with deliberate action as I’m aware it is plastic, no banging or slapping down the latches. Countless northern plains thunderstorms, hail, one tornado, sleet and blizzards.... all dry inside, 80 mph through sideways thunderstorms, not a drop of moisture or snow. The box has been loaded with well over 250# of gear and sometimes more and then loaded and unload from the truck by the handles without incident. It has served its intended purpose of storing every miscellaneous ... MoreI’ve read about multiple latch failures, leaking boxes and cracks from nothing more than an empty box turnover.... and here I am rolling in on my 4th winter with my box that never comes in out of the weather. The weather seal came out once but easily went back in and hasn’t come out since. I strap other toolboxes on top of it and strap them down using the steel bars on top with rubber straps.

The box is very light yet sturdy. It has a dust / rain seal on the lid, which is a bonus. The lid has tie down rails to add additional gear to the lid and secure it. The handle and wheels are sturdy and function as intended.

We checked out quite a few chests in this category and this was our favorite. Very tough, we'll use it for camping gear and it makes a good camping table or seat. Everything about it feels very sturdy including the wheels. Love the top rails for securing additional items to the top.It looks like it's designed to use inserted dividers, but didn't come with any, so just wondering where we'd find them, and Home Depot didn't know anything about them.In summary, we love the chest and looking forward to taking it on the road.
I have an F150 and was looked for a solution for bed storage. Compared to other rolling tool boxes, the DeWalt chest offered better options with the rails on top. Unfortunately the galvanized steel latches only lasted a few months before rusting and falling off. The box has been tough, but the latches can't stand up to use on the jobsite or in the back of a pick-up truck. As the owner of an EHS Consulting company, the quality control and engineering failed on this product. I am a huge lifelong DeWalk fan, but the are going to need to step it up to compete with Mikwakuee on the new storage product line. These are the close to Pelican with better options.
This is a nice addition to my dewalt storage containers. The plastic is nice & thick feels durable. The inside is huge, lots & lots of space. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars for me is the cheap latches. If you are looking for something to keep your bigger tools in...this is the 1 for you!
Bought two of these from local big box hardware store. Also bought a similar trunk made by a competitor because they only had two of the DeWalt's in stock. Really like the design of the DeWalt much better, and it just feels sturdier . . . but then one of the latches broke :/I had only used the trunk a couple of times so that was really frustrating. The latch itself is made of metal, but it is attached to the trunk with a plastic anchor - so it was the plastic anchoring mechanism that broke, giving the metal latch nothing to anchor to. I have tried to find some way to rig it to make the latch functional again, but so far no success. Of course the lid still closes so the trunk itself is functional in that respect, but obviously not secure with only one working latch ... MoreBought two of these from local big box hardware store. Still don't really understand how either one broke - but when the exact same thing happened to the other trunk I realized it was not me - it's a design flaw to attach the metal latch to the truck with nothing but a hard plastic anchor. See photos . .. first one shows the one good latch, followed by the one where the plastic anchor broke (on both trunks).Don't like the competitor's trunk nearly as much - but at least the latches are both still functional on it.
Purchased this DWST38000 Tough Chest on 9/21/20.It arrived at my house on 9/24/20. Took it to work on 9/28/20. Rolled it out of office and on the way to my truck it fell over and the back corner hit the concrete. Keep in mind the container was empty. When I got to my truck top load it I noticed the entire top part from the corner to where it latches was cracked. So this thing tipped over while empty and broke. Don't buy it is my recommendation as it isn't tough as advertised.
I bought this for tool storage on the Jobsite in a secure area. I had purposely bought this as a way to keep items dry and at this price point was expecting the design to be at least water-resistant.First light rain the items inside, as well as the bottom, had a layer of water inside it.As for storage, it's handy and it works for what it is. but if you want water-resistant or waterproof keep looking.I ended up buying a very large Otterbox with wheels to replace the brand new box.
I discovered this chest a while back and immediately started drooling. I finally got it and it is amazing. It literally holds all my tools; even my chainsaw. I installed some magnet bars on the inside of the lid for smaller items. The size of this thing is just incredible. It is extremely durable and feels very solid. The bars running across the lid will really come in handy for strapping something down. The top can easily double as a work surface. I love it so much I may end up buying another one.
