Appears to have died after few years

A handy tool to have to quickly clean up projects without pulling out corded vac. Suction power adaquate for dust and small items. Can use for quick clean of car. Unfortunately it has died after a few years of nonprofessional use. Unit runs and pushes air but has no / little suction power. At $159 you have to question the value if you only get 3 years from it. Other DeWalt tools that are used more often have outlasted this vacuum.

Awesome tool!

I bought mine when I was installing laminate flooring in my house. I had a 5-Gal shop vac but was tired of standing up to vacuum before putting down every plank. This was great. I would put down a plank, move over to the next, reach the vacuum and pull it over and clean the next spot and continue. It is great on stairs or for quick clean-up in my vehicles. It is not a replacement for my shop vac. It is light to carry, small and easy for small quick jobs rather than go get the Shop Vac or House vac with the cords, hoses, attachments, etc. DON'T buy a screwdriver and complain that it doesn't work like a jackhammer. This vac is great for its intended uses. I realize the suction would be less, the longer the path from the end of the hose to the vacuum so maybe that is past the performance characteristics of this unit.

Great Small Vacuum!

I have only had this vacuum for a month, but have used it several times. I am completely impressed with it! I use it in my vehicle and at jobs doing general maintenance. I've used it when replacing a toilet, it sucked out all the remaining water within seconds. I've used it to clean up sawdust during a remodel. Worked great. Compared to the long list of other small portable vacs I've had, this one is the best. Strong suction, and durable. The only complaint I have is the exhaust vent is on the same side as the hose. So if I'm trying to pick up sawdust, some of it will get blown away before I've had a chance to vacuum it up. But that's me being nit-picky. If I needed a second vacuum, I would not hesitate to buy another of these!

Great little picker-upper!

Very handy for doing a quick cleanup without breaking out the big shop vac. Enough power to pick up wood and steel chips, general small debris and similar items. Good for quick clean up of compound miter saw and / or table saw when done for the day. Previous experience with similar vacuum was the Milwaukee equivalent. I think this is a bit more handy to use and similar performance.

Handy cordless vacuum
22 July 2022

Needed a DeWalt vacuum that has a bit more capacity than the previous 18v version - this fit the bill. I wish I could have purchased the corded and 20v cordless version so that I could have additional power options - for some reason that model didn't stick around long and trying to purchase one was near impossible without spending hundreds of $$$. Run time is based on your battery size, with that being said, put a 9 ah battery and you'll be just fine. Word to the wise, when vacuuming sheetrock dust or saw dust, tap/clean the filter often as the filter is super small and it doesn't take much for it clog up. It's great for immediate area cleanup, for larger areas though, use the canister shop vacs.

No Power, Poor Suction
20 June 2022

Chose Dewalt DCV58OH cordless wet/dry vac because it utilizes the same battery as my other Dewalt garden tools. Was planning to use it for vacuuming small leaves & spent flowers that fall of shrubs. 1st problem there is no long wand (only a limp hose that stretches to 4.5') so I have to bend over for any debris on the ground. Tried to see if there was an optional want but no luck. Even if I did find a wand the suction is very poor. This vacuum might be good for collecting saw dust on a workbench. Will be returning to store.

Not impressed
27 May 2022

I have used this vac only a few times. I went to use it recently and put a 20V MAX 5AH battery on it and turned on the switch and NOTHING. I knew that battery was charged just a few days earlier, but I had just finished charging a 20V MAX 4AH battery on put that in the vac and again NOTHING.Of course, this thing is just past the 3 year warranty time period. Based on the other reviews posted here, I will not get another one.Being battery powered, I was not expecting much in the way of cleaning power and it did do the cleanup jobs I intended. Since I never used this for wet pickup, I did not expect this to just quit. Sometimes moisture will get where it is not supposed to and that would be a concern if used in wet conditions or for wet pickup.

Poorly Designed
12 November 2021

Unlike others, I have no problem with mine working, and no problems with the battery life. What IS terrible is the hose. The flexible part has literally detached from the part that attaches to the body of the vacuume. Its almost impossible to get back in, and when it did go back in, there was a gap and it lost alot of suction.Secondly, who ever designed it to have the hose on the same side as the exhaust was out to lunch. Its no fun trying to vaccume up a pile of dust, only to have the exhaust air blow the dust around.I would never buy this again and never recommend it to a friend. This product needs a total re-design.

Subpar for Dewalt - It's okay not great.

Let me preface this with the fact that I am a massive Dewalt fanboy, I have almost every cordless tool they offer including the heavy duty 54V/60V 12A ranges. Since I'm so high on their products I didn't even look into the specifics of this vacuum and just bought it since no Dewalt tool has let me down. The pros first: - Good suction - Extremely portable - Cleaning and Maintenance is very easy, all components pull apart and since it's a Wet/Dry vacuum you can rinse the filter under high pressure water. The cons: - The biggest design flaw is the fact that the blower hole is on the same side as where the suction hose comes out. This means that if you're cleaning a table the blower hole can just blow everything around, it's really annoying. - Combined with point 1, the ... MoreLet me preface this with the fact that I am a massive Dewalt fanboy, I have almost every cordless tool they offer including the heavy duty 54V/60V 12A ranges. The cons: - The biggest design flaw is the fact that the blower hole is on the same side as where the suction hose comes out. This means that if you're cleaning a table the blower hole can just blow everything around, it's really annoying. - Combined with point 1, the hose is far too short. Since you have to angle the blower hole away from where you're working the hose can only stretch less than half a meter, if the hose was double the size it would help immensely. - Whilst the majority of the filter is relatively easy to clean the edges at the top and bottom of the teeth design are impossible to clean even with high pressure water. Outside of cleaning it out with a toothpick there's no way to remove the build up over time which eats away at the pressure. If you could pop the caps off the filter and just remove the debris that would be awesome. Overall I don't think it's great value for the $300 price tag but since I have the entire line and multiple batteries I do admit it's very convenient to give the workshop benches a quick clean by just chucking in a battery. Being dewalt I'm sure the next model will probably fix a lot of these issues. The takeaway is for $300 you could probably just get another vacuum cheaper to do the same job, the difference in price is for the battery and compact nature of the vacuum. I chose to keep mine rather than return it but I don't feel like it was a great purchase when compared to any other of the dewalt tools I have.

Unimpressive vacuum quits working
20 April 2022

This vacuum worked as well as any other Black and Decker Dustbuster up until the 4th or 5th time I used it. I have had it for more than a year and it has worked on the few occasions I have needed it. I was just out vacuuming the car and it shut off by itself in mid-use. It's practically in mint condition, but it simply failed. I doubt I will be able to return it as it's been so long. $150 for three or four uses is a terrible value and extremely low quality. I will never recommend this product to anyone based on my experience. I'm rethinking my trust in the name DeWalt (I mean Black and Decker) (I mean Stanley)
