AN Old Friend

Well, for some reason it has been a few years since I bought a pair of regular old straight leg old-fashioned blue jeans from Dickies. I guess in one big way, that is an endorsement of the durability and longevity of the darn things. Because it is certainly not because I don't wear them. I do. Even though I'm pushing 70. Like Waylon Jennings sang... "now I'm over 40 and still wearin jeans". The old ones fit perfectly. A little tight when I pulled 'em out of the dryer, but stretched comfortably into shape within hours. God bless 'em. And these new ones? Well, I reduced the waist size by one inch in accordance with my decreased weight over these intervening years. Solid move! They were a little tight out of the dryer. But are now, as I sit here in my neighborhood ... MoreWell, for some reason it has been a few years since I bought a pair of regular old straight leg old-fashioned blue jeans from Dickies. They are like the rebirth of an old friend. Welcome back!

The actual length is longer than 30 on a size 32x30. Considerably longer. I needed to have them tailored so they will match the length of my other 32x30 pants. $44.99 plus $4.99 shipping and $20 for alterations equals $70, not including tax, for pants I am unhappy with. I hate relaxed fit, yet those are the only carpenter style pants they sell in stores. I purchased Regular/straight fit. They feel more like relaxed fit. And nothing straight leg about these, much too baggy. Regarding your “Slim fit”, much to tight on the legs when wearing boots. You should ask people who wear these pants, what we want.

Pant size not consistent when label size same
28 October 2023

I bought these pants because I already have a pair and love them. So I ordered the exact same size and item number. The new pair's waist and inseam are bigger and longer than my original pair. I washed them to see if they would shrink down to the right size and they did not. (The comparison to my original pair, after washing: new pair's actual waist is larger than first pair by 3/4 of an inch. And the length is 3/4 of an inch longer. I have had the same problem recently with another model/style of Dickie's pants. Now I have a pair of pants I can not return and that do not fit.

Pointless changes
6 September 2023

I have been wearing these jeans for years. The sole purpose being that I could use the side pocket for my phone. I hate having a belt phone clip or having a phone in one of the waist pockets. Unfortunately I just had to return the latest pair I bought because the side pocket has reduced in size. I get the cost of everything is going up, but is reducing the size of that pocket really making or breaking your cost for the pants. As I glance through some reviews, I see I’m not the only one ticked off about it. It was so convenient to order when I needed new pants. Same size, same model#, same color. But sorry, I am now done with Dickies and will be forced to go through the hassle of finding new pants. Feel free to reach out to me if you go back to the original size of ... MoreI have been wearing these jeans for years. The sole purpose being that I could use the side pocket for my phone. Slim leg, flared bottoms, cheap fabric
18 April 2023

Different fit than all my other dickies. These are slim through the legs but still with a boot cut which is really overkill. It's way bigger and wider than my work boots need so they just flop around and are way more noticable with the slim leg. Not my favorite. The material is also different. These are 30% polyester and man do they look it. Almost a shine to the fabric that looks cheap. Though with the 3% elastane (flex) they've got a nice practical stretch that makes these my most comfortable work pants. But the fit and cheap appearance really puts me off. I bought these in the same size as my other dickies but I wish I sized down. The stretch offers plenty of room when sitting or crouching.

These are a winner!

Heavyweight Duck material IS heavyweight! Well made, finish quality is excellent. I really like the button through hole enclosure, instead of a snap type. Pockets are deep & spacious. Delivery was prompt. What drove this purchase for me was the fact that these Heavyweight Duck Carpenter pants came in a 30 waist 34 inseam. I had purchased Dickies cargo paints with the heavyweight Duck material, but the longest inseam in a 30 waist is 32; I love them but never was truly happy with the short inseam. I own five pair of regular-fit Dickies 874 classic work pants in 30 x 34 & love them. Now I have these wonderful heavy-duty carpenter pants in 30 x 34!!! I just wish the cargo version of these pants were offered in 30 x 34.

Thought they were red tab carpenters
3 March 2023

I purchased these carpenter jeans under the impression they were your old red tab carpenter jeans with tapered legs. I loved those jeans! Apparently you quit making those jeans and only offer the straight leg carpenter jeans that have a blue or black tag on the rear pocket. You need to update your photo then! The photo of the jeans I ordered were that of the old red jeans. That is the only reason I ordered these. I do not like the ones I ordered! Too baggy and I hate straight legs! Did not feel like going thru the trouble of returning them. They're going either in the trash can or to GOODWILL! I'm done with Dickies!

Wore out quick
30 March 2023

I didn't buy off website, but the local farm store.I'm disappointed in the quality. Forever, Dickies has been known as the workwear powerhouse.I've owned these pants for 3 months. I don't do a horrendously physical job, but enough that I needed quality work wear. The croch has already worn through on these, and squatting down just today blew a bigger hole.A number of those self conscious questions went through my mind, did I buy the right size, am I wearing them too much, did I put on weight. But nothing is different from other pants I own and these blew out quick. The comfort and utility is great. I'm just sad that they didn't last as long as their reputation seems to say.

Worth buying. Sturdy and comfortable.

The denim is a good weight. I was pleased at how quickly it came. This might sound a little odd but the fly is longer than most companies and the zipper is good and strong. Often companies cheap out on that feature because I suspect that per unit zippers are relatively expensive. I have two things I would wish different one is for the watch pocket to be a little broader. I carry an AAA flashlight and unlike the other Dickies pants I have it won’t lie flat in the pocket making me a little nervous about it working its way out. The second is that the pocket material is a bit light for work jeans. I really like the pocket down the right leg. A glasses case fits perfectly.
