Carpenter Jean review

For me these are the ONLY jeans I wear. They are heavy, made of thick material and wear great. They are comfortable jeans and they last almost forever. One recommendation I would make is for sizing. As you get older you unfortunately shrink. Sizes such as, 40x 28 or 29 would go a LONG way with older new clients. Other than that please don’t make the work pocket on the right side smaller. If anything make it bigger to accommodate the apple phones. It would go a long way with new customers and save a lot of people from sitting on their phones. With a larger pocket you would definitely attract more customers. I would also offer jeans in a more faded model. It gives that older worn look which is what everyone is looking for. These are great jeans so please don’t stop ... MoreFor me these are the ONLY jeans I wear. They are heavy, made of thick material and wear great. Disappointed by front pockets in two ways

Long time Dickies customer. They always had decent quality but reasonable price. But then three pairs ago, I had a front pocket wear out. I stitched the hole, but it got too weak to stitch again and grew quite large so that I couldn't use the pocket. It's not like I stored something sharp like my keys in there - just my cell phone. I figured it was a one-off until my next pair did the same thing. My most recent pair hasn't worn out yet but the front pockets are noticeably shallower than previous pairs. My cell phone is less than 6" tall and the top of it barely fits in the pocket. Very disappointing.

Unfortunately, I am less than satisfied. The relaxed fit carpenter jeans sent to me were of low quality. One pocket opening/pocket is larger than the other, one leg is shorter than the other, and the denim is very light weight. No where near the quality of Dickies jeans I purchase in a store but yet the same price. I will never order anything from Dickies online again & may never buy another Dickies product period. Currently that is the only brand of jeans and zip up hoodies I wear. I am EXTREMELY disappointed! The online buying experience, however, was satisfying, effortless, & my jeans were promptly delivered. If not for that, the satisfaction rating would be a 1 or 0

Good jeans but.....
1 January 2022

I've been wearing these 11.5 oz. denim jeans for 20 or so years and I have always loved them until this last order. I ordered 2 pair and they're not like my others. The pockets are much more shallow and the belt loops next to the front one are not in the same place. When I hang my keys on that belt loop it blocks easy entry into my front pocket. These are good jeans and comfortable but if they are going to be inconsistent I will regrettably need to find a different brand of jeans. I especially hate the shallow pockets.

Great Job Dickies
30 November 2022

Thank goodness for Dickies. A size 31" waist jean is almost a miracle these days. Most other companies make 30" or 32" with no odd waist sizes until you get above 33". Finally, a pair of comfortable jeans in my size and style - relaxed fit. I cannot stand the skinny jeans look and these are the perfect style with a snug fit at the waist and room in the seat and thighs.

Jeans waist size.. shrunk in re-order?
31 December 2021

I ordered two pairs, confident about size and length because I've been wearing these Dickies on the farm... pair after pair... for years now. The bag arrived, I tossed the jeans into the washer, and air dried them in the house (so they wouldn't shrink) because my same size has fit every time.Bad mistake. These carpenter jeans were supposed to be 34W - 34 inseam and were NOT. The waist is at least an inch too small. They are also sewn differently, and changed certain details (ie. the coin pocket is much deeper and I can no longer easily reach driver bits I usually keep there).Apparently Dickies has a new factory doing the sewing, and they've got something wrong.

So comfortable...love my Dickies Carpenter Jeans
1 March 2023

I am extremely pleased with the excellent quality workmanship and stiching that went into these pants. They are made of a sturdy yet flexible material unlike stiffer canvass style jeans out there. They are very comfortable. They are breathable too, no over heating in these jeans. I'd highly recommend to those that wear Carpenter jeans or would like to try them out. I go with the zipper fly

Surprisingly disappointed
9 September 2021

I’ve been wearing Dickies almost exclusively for 20 years. It came to a point where I could just buy them without even trying them on…until a few days ago. I ordered the same size I’ve always ordered, and nothing has changed for me weight/height wise. I tried them on and they were very uncomfortable, and didn’t fit well at all. I will be returning them, and trying a different brand. This was not a quality issue of the material, just sizing and overall comfort.

Tool pocket could be bigger.
18 December 2019

I’ve worn Dickies carpenter almost jeans almost exclusively for the last 14-15 years. The price and quality can’t be beat. Over the last year I have lost some weight and needed a smaller waist size. Most of the local retailers that used to carry them have stopped for some reason (they have other Dickies pants and shirts, just not the single front carpenter jeans), or they are asking waaaay too much for them (some as much as $56/pair). I took advantage of the holiday sales and ordered these jeans and paid about $20 with tax/shipping. Had issues with FedEx not being able to track them for over three days and changing my delivery date several times, but that’s on them. The jeans fit perfectly and are comfortable as always. My only gripe is that the tool pocket has been reduced in size from my older pairs to the point that my iPhone 8S (with a simple snap on cover) will not fit. The whole reason I wear this style of jeans is so I don’t have to carry my phone in either a front or back pocket or one of those God awful belt holsters. It’s only about 1/4”-1/2” too narrow, but it effective renders the pocket useless. For comparison , I tried stuffing my phone in the tool pocket of one of the $56 pairs at a local store and had the same issue. I’ve read other reviews on several different Dickies carpenter jeans that say the same thing (pocket has gotten smaller). Seems there needs to be some revisions in the manufacturing.

What happened to the blue denim cargo pants
18 February 2023

What happened to these jeans? i've been wearing these for years and bought 3 new pairs. The blue is not the same, now it's indigo. The pant legs are too long. The waist is too tight. The back side is too baggy. If you can't go back to the way these were made I'll start buying someone elses brand.
