Was hesitant about ordering this, cause I didn’t know if it was going to be too artificially sounding! Boy was I wrong! For Metal this is amazing for those gloom and doom tones! Squealing harmonics! Def recommend. Acoustically sounding tones for underpaying diversity in some really melodic touches, how can you go wrong! Love AMS and the selection of pedals and variety they offer with great payment plans!

I was very skeptical of this pedal at first glance; but was very intrigued by what it could achieve. I play in a three piece band that has tunings all over the place. I was growing very tired of lugging 3 or 4 guitars to practice. After making a silly mistake, I love it! (Hear octaves?)

I don't have enough expertise in pedals or guitar to add anything very exciting to the conversation but I did want to share my "novice" experience and thoughts because I've seen some complaints online that stemmed from an embarrassing but honest mistake (one that I made, too!).Before I opened up my Drop I had read a forum post asking if anyone else was experiencing a weird "octave" kind of sound, etc. etc. etc. A half hour later I got around to opening up the pedal and plugging it in and wouldn't you know it, I had the exact same issue that guy was describing! I fiddled and faddled for awhile, switching amps, guitars, etc. before I finally realized: There's no problem! Is it as clean and clear as a drop-tuned guitar? No. Frankly, I think achieving that would be expecting too much from a relatively cheap pedal like this. That said, I think it is more than sufficient for conveniently dropping a half or whole step from time to time for that random tune when you don't want to retune or pull out a second guitar. The value will depend on your usage, but I'm confident saying that the pedal does what it claims given a reasonable expectation.

Digitech Drop Compact Polyphonic Pitchshifter

This pedal is everything that Id hoped for! I dont really go down more than three semitones. Im a guitarist who sings a bit. A couple of my Gary Moore songs are just a fraction too high for me. Having learnt the songs in their original key, I thought it would be too difficult to play them two semitones down. With the Digitech Drop I have been able to play them in my usual position and sing at a much more comfortable pitch. Thank you Digitech, youve made me very happy!!

GREAT pedal, Can be used with acoustic instruments - read on for my experience!

Preface, I use this with an acoustic violin fitted with a BTS pickup (dual piezos/string), OR with a Greek steel stringed laouto to immediately change from standard tuning to a 5th lower (Cretan, Southern Aegean tuning). So I gave it a try, and have been using it for 2 years now... it's a life saver. I'm just a fiddler, but this saves me from stressing out and I can play free and it sounds GREAT. It tracks so well I can't tell if there is any latency at all. Cons- With my current setup, I find that I need to either play in front of a monitor or near a speaker or use IEM's, as when playing through the pedal with an acoustic instrument, obviously you are going to hear the natural AND the modified sounds and you ARE going to think it sounds like garbage, then attempt to junk it. DONT DO IT! Unless your pedal is defective, your sound from the speakers is clean. This pedal is meant to be used with mainly electric instruments. During sound check, as loud as you can be, you'll still hear the acoustic sound of your instrument, yet once you are playing with the full band (depending on what your band consists of), it will eventually drown out the sound, and you'll be able to focus on your modified tone, but this is not consistent. Just be aware. If you can, I suggest using some sort of IEM system, wired or wireless, or a monitor. My next step is getting an electric violin body to use this tool even more effectively, but moreso in order to truly utilize my pickup. In a nutshell: Do it!

Great pedal

True story! I play in a couple of bands. One is getting into doing songs that we need to tune down and the other plays all songs tuned a half step down. So, I was eager to try this pedal out and not have to change guitars. I have 2 guitars that are in very similar cases. I was in a rush and didn't realize until I got to the gig that I had grabbed the wrong guitar. I know this sounds made up, but believe me it is not. The guitar I grabbed does not like to be tuned down even a half step. So now I was in a position where I was going to be using this pedal "on" all night. I have to say it worked great. Only One Regret!

Overall:One regret: Not getting one when I was touring! Why didn't I get one sooner? I had heard about them, watched reviews and never gave it a shot. Now that I'm not even in a band hitting short tour runs, I have one. Ehh. It is what it is. But it should would have been a great time and space saver. I used to do one to two week short tours opening for bigger name bands and my songs were in a range of 4 different tunnings. Standard, drop D, drop C and drop A. Having that many guitars for a show where you are only allowed 30 minutes max makes for a lot of time wasted. I was also traveling with a 6 space case for a head and a fully enclosed Marshall 412 as well. I wasn't using modelers live, now I do. It doesn't "feel" weird, except maybe when you get down to towards the octive. Life could have been so much easier. I don't think I ever will but if I form or join a touring band ever again, just give me this pedal, one guitar, and a decent modeling amp and I'm good to go.The only thing I'd like to see is an update. This is in fact old technology and it seems there could have been some improvement by now. No real valid complaints though as it totally delivers what it is supposed to, 100%. But as someone exploring the even lower regions of guitar deeper, I'd like to see that 7th semitone and the octive be a little less laggy and less digital artifact-y.

Review for Bass Players

I hesitated writing this review because this pedal is fantastic for guitars. However, I need a tool like this for bass, and, unfortunately, this pedal ain't it.If all you're playing is longer and more sustained notes above a low A, then this pedal will probably do ok for you. However, it has serious problems playing below that. Hitting some of the lower notes and letting them sustain causes major oscillation and warbling. Pedaling on some of the lower notes causes this weird low frequency bellowing that just isn't acceptable. The latency isn't great either ... especially when you're trying to lock in with the kick drum.If Digi or anyone else can solve those issues on bass, I'll buy that product in a heartbeat.
