An Excellent Heater but flawed if you have pets

Don't walk past this heater.

An excellent heater, well worth the cost. Excellent variability for heater control. Aesthetically pleasing; eminently practical in design without being too utilitarian; sturdy castors; good cable length. AND a seven year warranty! We've been using as a background heater in rooms about 3.6m2 and it has been very good. Wish we'd had them [we bought 2] years ago.

Very happy with this heater. It heats up fast and stays warm so long as you keep the space closed off. We use this heater in our open plan lounge space and find it effective. The addition of the fan is useful but it's not very powerful and a bit noisy. The wheels are easy to install and enable the heater to be moved around easily. Only downside is the main power cord is a little short.

Excellent for heating our retreat area
7 July 2021

As we are on bottled gas, it gets quite expensive to run our ducted gas heater all the time. So, because we spend most of our evenings watching TV in the retreat area upstairs we bought this unit as a lower cost heating alternative. It takes a little while to heat up an area larger than a sizeable bedroom but maintains a comfortable warmth for our large retreat area.It apparently costs about $3.50 on its highest setting for about 5 hours without discounts for solar panels so that’s ok for us.It would be nice to have some indication that the unit is in the off position as the light only goes off when turned off at the socket. Otherwise I would certainly recommend this unit for heating a limited area.

Great Bird-safe Heater
4 August 2023

It's a really good, simple effective heater. It warms up really fast being oil free. It had very little initial smell. As a bird owner, I rang the company and asked if it had teflon, they emailed me back that day saying it didn't, so bird safe. It looks really nice, as well as having 7 years warranty. Controls are a little simple, proper teperature settings would be better, but thats the only real complaint.

I was sceptical, but this heater actually heats
25 July 2022

I live in an old drafty unit with vents in the ceiling that suck hot air out in winter, and secondly the room I want heated is the main room which is entirely open to the kitchen area, meaning any heater has to work extra-hard. My old oil-column heater was useless at heating this space - if I was lucky the temperature went up by 1 degree no matter how many hours I left it on. I thought it might not be possible to buy a heater that acutally did any better given the environment it has to work in, but having a circulatory disorder, had to try something. I read all the Appliances Online reviews for all products in the electrical heater category. I hade planned not to buy another column heater, but was impressed by the reviews for this Dimplex one. I supposed I had only $150 to lose and much to gain, so I bought it. So glad I did. It raises the temperature of my hard-to-heat space by at minimum 3 degrees and I can turn it off the highest setting after an hour. I can even open my bedroom door before going to bed and the heat will go through into there and even raise the temperature of the bedroom a little. I haven't even needed to use the fan function yet. There's only two drawbacks. 1) the timer system - firstly I don't have it on at the same time every day which means I would have to readjust it every day, and secondly the little dimples you have to push in are so small and fiddly and don't look robust: so I just have to remember to turn it off before bed, which would be easier to remember if the light on the unit went off when you switched the thermostat to off - but it doesn't, it stays on even when the unit is off, until you switch it off at the wall. and 2) the cords is really really short. It says not to plug it in to an extension cord or power board - well, I have it plugged into both an extension cord and a power board, because in my old unit the power-point is at the wrong end of the room and I don't want the heater to heat only the window, I want it to heat the whole main room & kitchen area. But these two drawbacks are not enough to stop me giving it 5 stars, as I would actually have bought the one without a timer if that had been available anyway.

Love it!

Overall I am very happy with this heater. It is very light weight and very easy to move to different rooms even if you don’t wheel it. It takes a while to heat up but once it gets started it maintains the heat so well. I would probably purchase the model without the fan function as I feel this does nothing but make a little noise and nothing else. It does make some ticking noises when turned off and cooling down otherwise it’s silent.

Not a true column heater
13 June 2022

This heater is okay. The fan is not quiet, but not terrible. It operates more like a fan heater than a column heater, generating lots of heat out the top but not really radiating from the columns. This means the hot air rises quickly to the ceiling rather than the columns warming the air surrounding the heater. It was too big for one room and too small for another, so we returned it for a more suitable one.

Oil Free Column heater
22 June 2022

I bought this to replace an old Dimplex Oil Column heater. Instead of ramping up the central heating, I use this portable heater to add extra warmth to the particular room in use. Works very well and is much lighter to move around than the old oil column heater. Appliances Online were excellent with delivery and taking away the old heater.

Powerful and fast
24 June 2023

I am using this in my bedroom. I use the 2100watt setting and 3/4 thermostat to get the room warm and then dial it back to 699watt when the room heats up, only takes a few minutes to get the room toasty. A little bit tricky to figure it out, when I turn the fan on the columns seem to turn off but I haven’t tried turning the thermostat to maximum at the same time. Probably too much heater for my bedroom and more suitable for a bigger room but I like having the extra wattage on hand.
