Amazing Heater - simple to use

I brought this amazing heater when I moved into a new town house, but sadly no double glazing. It heats my bedroom very nicely and I’ve programmed the Auto timer to turn on and off when the night gets cold (I’m in Southern NZ) as winter night get real cold down here. I like the 3 adjustable heat settings, adjustable thermostat, auto timer plus the fan warms the bedroom super fast. I have mine on casters (simple to fit) so can move the heater from room to room, The lady inshore was really helpful and very knowledgeable, as I have Asthma plus Physical Disability and a wheelchair user. Only downer - it has a short power cord that could be another 300-400mm longer. But finally reading all the heater reviews helped to choose this heater.

This looked like the perfect heater for me until I began to unpack it. Unlike most Column Heaters, this model is oil free, for greater heating efficiency. She has a double layer coat, and she sheds. As I am asthmatic, the thought of floating dog hairs (not to mention any other floating debris) landing on those elements and the resulting burning smell made this heater a no-no for me. The website pictures son't really show the open vents, nor does the actual product brochure I downloaded. Light weight and portable, heats a 12 cubic room quickly. Cons. Light doesn't indicate the opperation of the thermostat. Oil filled types more efficient due to oil staying heated after thermostat reaches its set temprature. Oil free unit acts as a radiator. Pulls lots of current to generate heat. And though the thermostat can be adjusted there is no indication of its opperation. Would have preferred an oil filled type

Excellent column heater
23 July 2022

Very happy with this heater. It heats up fast and stays warm so long as you keep the space closed off. We use this heater in our open plan lounge space and find it effective. The addition of the fan is useful but it's not very powerful and a bit noisy. The wheels are easy to install and enable the heater to be moved around easily. Only downside is the main power cord is a little short.

Excellent for heating our retreat area
7 July 2021

As we are on bottled gas, it gets quite expensive to run our ducted gas heater all the time. So, because we spend most of our evenings watching TV in the retreat area upstairs we bought this unit as a lower cost heating alternative. It takes a little while to heat up an area larger than a sizeable bedroom but maintains a comfortable warmth for our large retreat area. It apparently costs about $3.50 on its highest setting for about 5 hours without discounts for solar panels so that’s ok for us. It would be nice to have some indication that the unit is in the off position as the light only goes off when turned off at the socket. Otherwise I would certainly recommend this unit for heating a limited area.

Good option to heat small room
23 June 2021

Good option to heat a small room 3m x 4.5m. Turbofan helps to suck air past the heater and spread heat around room faster than same size fan less oil heater. Easy to pickup and carry to another room. Like all oil heaters it uses a lot of power. 1.5kW for 10 hours work from home = 15kW which could cost about $4 a day. If you need to use it for more than 2 months a year a reverse cycle aircon would be cheaper long term. Note description should say 1.2kW heating capacity and Turbofan uses 0.3kW. It's not 1.5kW heating capacity total.

Great Heater for a bedroom or office
8 August 2022

This is the 2nd time I have bought this heater. One for my bedroom or office when I was working form home and then I bought another one for my mums bedroom as it worked so well to heat up the room. The timer function is great and it has several heat settings and the turbo fan also helps the room heat up a bit quicker. I highly recommend this heater for a small to medium sized room.

Great Replacement For An Oil Column Heater
14 September 2021

I bought this after reading the good reviews and really like this heater. It was to replace a much older oil column heater to heat a medium sized room and then maintain the temperature. The adjustable thermostat allows you to adjust the on/off temperature. This heater is much quicker to heat up (2 minutes) compared to my oil column heater. The fan requires you manually to turn the fan on and off which is a slight downside, as when the desired temperature is reached and the thermostat turns the unit off it doesn't turn the fan off at the same time. Power cord is a little short. Castors are very easy to fit. Another positive is you can use a Wifi enabled smart plug to turn this on/off remotely. Comes with a 7 year warranty which is pretty impressive.

I was sceptical, but this heater actually heats
25 July 2022

I live in an old drafty unit with vents in the ceiling that suck hot air out in winter, and secondly the room I want heated is the main room which is entirely open to the kitchen area, meaning any heater has to work extra-hard. My old oil-column heater was useless at heating this space - if I was lucky the temperature went up by 1 degree no matter how many hours I left it on. I thought it might not be possible to buy a heater that acutally did any better given the environment it has to work in, but having a circulatory disorder, had to try something. I read all the Appliances Online reviews for all products in the electrical heater category. I hade planned not to buy another column heater, but was impressed by the reviews for this Dimplex one. I supposed I had only $150 to lose and much to gain, so I bought it. So glad I did. It raises the temperature of my hard-to-heat space by at minimum 3 degrees and I can turn it off the highest setting after an hour. I can even open my bedroom door before going to bed and the heat will go through into there and even raise the temperature of the bedroom a little. I haven't even needed to use the fan function yet. There's only two drawbacks. 1) the timer system - firstly I don't have it on at the same time every day which means I would have to readjust it every day, and secondly the little dimples you have to push in are so small and fiddly and don't look robust: so I just have to remember to turn it off before bed, which would be easier to remember if the light on the unit went off when you switched the thermostat to off - but it doesn't, it stays on even when the unit is off, until you switch it off at the wall. and 2) the cords is really really short. It says not to plug it in to an extension cord or power board - well, I have it plugged into both an extension cord and a power board, because in my old unit the power-point is at the wrong end of the room and I don't want the heater to heat only the window, I want it to heat the whole main room & kitchen area. But these two drawbacks are not enough to stop me giving it 5 stars, as I would actually have bought the one without a timer if that had been available anyway.

Lighter than traditional Oil heater
8 August 2021

I have 2 traditional Oil heaters and purchased the oil free heater for my young son's room. The reason why I purchased it was for the timer function and the turbo fan (his room gets very cold and sometimes I need that extra heat boost!). This heater is excellent as the timer function works brilliantly (i no longer forget to turn the heater off now) and it is much lighter than traditional oil heater. One thing to note is that the heat actually comes out the top of the heater so that is where you would feel the most heat (unlike the oil heaters you can feel it radiating out the sides too). Would definately recommend this heater. Service from Appliances Online and delivery was excellent too. I received it earlier than originally expected which was a huge plus!
