Very easy to pout together w simple instructions and the need of very limited equipment (Thankfully). It certainly lives up to its name of 'high velocity' fan with speed #1 the only speed I have used to date. I have a fan on all night as I need the feeling of moving air to feel comfortable, and this worked through the night really well. Not too noisy.

This fan is great. The last fan i bought was roughly the same size but it barely moved the air around. The Dimplex fan is much stronger and really helps to keep the room cool. It is quiet too

This fan is not built with the same quality as previous Dimplex fans we have owned. Three small washers were missing when the fan was assembled. This fan is very "tinny" and does not seem to be value for money. However, it works well on the various speeds. I do not think it will last as long as our previous Dimplex fans.

I thought this looked like a good buy.I had some help with the construction.I bought two so I could cross ventilate if needed. One has been enough so far.Good product and good price.
Needed a decent fan to replace my clapped-out relic. After much research I settled on the Dimplex and couldn't be happier. Very easy assembly, good sturdy construction and pretty quiet operation. A great fan at the right price for me. I'm actually considering getting a second one.
I should have looked at the height. I've never had to do that with any other fan I've purchased which were a standard height, but that was 10 years ago so maybe they build them differently now. It's very small and short. It seems weirdly difficult to tilt the head, in fact I haven't been able to figure out how to do that yet. Other than that, it works ok. I wouldn't say it's great for the price, luckily I had a voucher.
My bedroom gets uncomfortable ly hot during our harsh Queensland summers. Unfortunately my old fan died this summer, so i was required to replace it. Unbeknow n to me this was a blessing in disguise. I now had the perfect excuse to get a really good fan. The Dimplex 40cm High Velocity fan was perfect. It came nicely packaged and was easily assembled. Assembly was completely tooless, except for the tiny screw on the bottom of the grill, this will make it easy to disassemble for either storing away in the colder months or for general cleaning. It doesnt rattle or squeek while osolating, which was always an annoyance with my other fans. It doesnt rattle or squeek while osolating, which was always an annoyance with my other fans. The rear mounted controls feel very nice with a nice affirmative feel when selecting speed and keep the overal look of the fan very modern and sleek. The airflow is great and relatively quiet at the lowest speed, keeping the room nicely cool all day long and quiet enough to use while sleeping. The airflow has been so good i havnt needed to go any higher than the first speed, but in testing out the fan when i first got it, the higher speeds are as you'd expect, very high airflow. The adjustable height and tilt make this fan extremely versatile and the build quality makes me believe this fan will last a long time. To sum up, it looks great, the airflow is great, no unnessesary and annoying squeeks or rattles and its easily assembled. I would highly recommend this fan to anyone looking to keep cool this summer.
I bought this fan because my cheap old pedestal fan was pretty much dead. The old one served me well with near constant use in my badly ventilated room, but eventually just burned out.THIS fan? That is not a worry.First thing you will notice is it is solid. The motor assembly is very hefty and is encased in a durable hard metal enclosure. The base stand is also a proper base weighted to make sure there is no chance of tipping over with a casual brush by.Something to be aware of. 50cm is larger than your typical pedestal fan size. So it will take up noticeably more room than an existing cheap one. So be sure to factor that in for placement because you wont want to move it very often. The fan has three speed settings but as others said its unlikely you will go ... MoreI bought this fan because my cheap old pedestal fan was pretty much dead. So be sure to factor that in for placement because you wont want to move it very often. The fan has three speed settings but as others said its unlikely you will go above 1. Gale force comes to mind when thinking about how much air this pushes. On its highest setting its very much like sitting behind a commercial warehouse fan.The speed selector is also double sided so should you want to mount this on a wall in your own bracket with it upside down it will still be intuitive for setting a speed.Noise is an issue, it will easily drown out someone talking in another room, and with the design of the fan blades, does have a muffled aircraft noise sense. If you are a light sleeper this will not be a workable solution for you. But if you could sleep through an earthquake then this thing will make sure you don't have any problems with a stuffy room.Overall the fan is sturdy and well constructed for its price. It would be ideal for out side patio's or under an awning to move air about on a hot day in the backyard. Or in a commercial setting to ensure that there is airflow in areas with high traffic or customers lingering.Use indoors is ok as long as you can deal with having to speak over it or turn the volume up on the TV more than you would normally do.This fan is for you if you are serious about pushing a lot of air around to actually feel cooler, and don't care about noise.
It’s fine. Noisier than other reviews would suggest… Lowest mode is fine, but to higher speeds have a really jarring buzzing wasp like sound. It’s not 100% metal, there are some plastic components holding the propeller and motor case together. At least the plastic has no detectable smell which is something I’m very sensitive to. Cable is ridiculously short. Overall, seems like an OK purchase for the price. If there was a competitive product around the same price, I would probably return it and try that… But I didn’t find anything as pleasant looking, and with as much metal components that wasn’t much more expensive.
It is well built, and sturdy and looks probably the best among the pedestal fans. The cord is a bit short for me (about 155cm long), so you may have to use it with an extension cord depending on where you need it, but apparently it shouldn't be used with an extension cord according to the manual? Very strange.Another reviewer said it's quiet, its not. It was loud even on the lowest fan speed (there's 3 speeds). You eventually get used to it, but not ideal for sensitive sleepers.I thought having only 3 speed settings aren't important, but I realised having a good low range speed setting is quite useful for sleep when you just need a light breeze. They would do better to have a larger range of speeds between low, medium and high.
