It might not be so annoying in a fully carpeted room but on a rug over floorboards it it very noticeable.

I needed a heater for a 27 sq m room with 10 foot ceilings and this does the job. Thermostatically controlled so I'm draining power by leaving it on. The flame effect is atmospheric and creates a nice feeling in the room.Performs really well for the output in a large room.

Really good little heater. Love the ambience of the fake flames, and you can crank it up for some decent direct heat.Only 4 stars as the fake flames started to make a weird noise after a couple of months of use. It's ok if you have the TV / sound on , but noticeable when you are in silent space.

I have just bought this dimplex stove as a booster for the autumn/winter. I chose this model as it is a bigger than cheaper models I have seen and purchased previously. I also wanted 2kw option for extra heating power. As the weather has been warm (August '19) I have only had chance to test this appliance, and not used it yet for properly heating the room. However, I have to say that so far I am impressed with the heating power. The three buttons give the option for light only, half heat and full heat but there is further control with the sliding thermostat dial. You have to put this on higher level to maintain heating power until it gets to required heat, then turn it down to maintain the level you want. As the heat comes from the lower part of this fire, I have slightly raised the hearth tile that I have this placed on, to avoid the heat going to the floor. I am happy with the online ordering and delivery and was kept informed through the whole process. This is also a good price compared to other retailers charging £30 more.
Bought this to add some instant heat and a focal point to my daughters living room. We were all pleased with the way it looks, the flame effect is quite good. The heat is comparable to small fan heaters that pump out good heat very quickly, but I would only use it as a supplement to radiators or similar. As for noise, again it is directly comparable to those small fan heaters, so not too intrusive. It was very easy to set up and use, just plug and play. A slightly longer power cord would have been nice to give a bit more flexibility in where the fire could be positioned. Overall we were very pleased and the Screwfix price was excellent.
I did a but of research before buying this and saw that these are efficient on power and decided I would like something like this (with the flame effect) rather than just a normal heater. It is so good. Better than I expected. It produces a very nice heat and warms the room well. The flame effects are surprisingly realistic and create a nice atmosphere. Also it is great if you have little kids because the whole outside is cool to touch as the heat blows from underneath. It is really only suitable for hard floors - tiles or wood not carpet. I am really happy with it.

The performance is ok and it takes the chill off but doesn't get as hot as thought it would. I have a blow heater that I bought years ago which is much better at warming a cold room. I'm now wondering if this one is faulty or not. The room I use it for is just under 4x3x2.5m. I really thought I would get quick heating from this. As another review suggests it does feel nice and warm when your sitting close to it but it doesn't seem to chuck the heat very far. I'm going to try my old blow heater tomorrow and if it works better I will take this back for a refund. We love our Dimplex electric fire. Sure its artificial, but it still looks so cosy - and weve had plenty of experience with the real thing. Especially in heritage row cottages in North Adelaide and a home in the Adelaide Hills. It warms a room nicely. Pity about the noisy fan though.
This sits perfectly in our empty and inactive fireplace. It is so cosy when on and warms up so quickly. I love you can adjust the strength, setting and power of the warmth, and even just put it on light only for when we want to comfort of a fire but dont need the heat. Would definitely re-buy.
bought this for the look and feel of having a fireplace in an apartment. a decent amount of heat comes out but normally we still have the split system turned on in the room, but just turn on the separate fire lighting to add to the ambience in the room rather than using the heater function. Love that you can do it separately. It really makes the room look and feel cosy! Not too big either. nice addition to a small apartment
