The formulation: this foundation has an excellent, smooth, easy to blend texture and sets fairly quickly. The finish gives a really healthy glow to skin and applies beautifully over dry skin and skin with an orange peel texture. It does not sink into pores or highlight imperfections which is really nice. I applied this foundation alone (without primer or finishing spray/powder) and found that it stayed really well against rubbing or splashing water on it. There was minor transfer with rubbing but it did not affect the look of the foundation on my skin. I would recommend this foundation but I would recommend swatching first so you can adjust for oxidation.

It’s a thinner consistency so you can really build it up for the perfect look and it’s not heavy or cakey at all. The coverage is nice. I applied this with a foundation brush since it is thinner and it blended beautifully into my skin. It seriously looked like my skin but bright and glowy. I’m not used to “thin”, watery foundation, but made it “work”. About 2 hours later, I could see where my skin tends to get red (usually in the winter) peek through the foundation. I don’t have sensitive skin, nor do I have rosacea, but the area around my nose and sides of my upper lip tend to get pink in colder months. The formula “settled” too, even though I applied primer before and powder after this foundation. If you have near perfect skin and need something that evens you out/preps skin for color/conturing products, this will likely work well for you! It definitely seems to give a more “natural” look, as one “layer” or application without going back over with more product allows your skin to still show through (ie natural).

The Dior has equalled, if not outperformed the Bobbi Brown, but I would like to do a side-by-side comparison at some point. I found the Dior Backstage Face and Body really responsive to different SPF formulas I wore underneath it. On Day 1 I wore La Roche-Posay Anthelios Melt-in Milk, Day 2 I wore Supergoop Unseen, and on Day 3 I wore Supergoop Glow screen. The foundation performed well over each, but I think on my skin type (dry to normal), it wore best over the glow screen. My skin feels soft and the makeup has definitely set, so I don’t worry about longevity, however I do feel a little tightness across my cheeks, so I could probably hydrate my skin a bit more to make up for the dry down of the foundation. What has impressed me most about the Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation is how natural it looks, how seamless is is after 8+ hours of wear (without primer or setting spray) and that it doesn’t crease or settle into fine lines. I prefer using my fingers to apply products and I have found that for this formula, I prefer either fingers or a dense foundation brush. I used the Saie base brush and loved how easily it blended out the foundation. From what I can tell, the formula is extremely flexible and the sign to me that it’s a winning formula is that it didn’t settle into the pores around my t-zone. I’m super impressed!

I used to be in love with the Makeup Forever Reboot in Y405 but they discontinued it. I tried the Dior Backstage Face and Body foundation 4WO and it's even better! Chef's kiss! You don't even need a primer with it and can use the foundation alone. When I tried using primer, the primer took away from the beautiful finish of the foundation so I would suggest not using primer. It's that great and the color is the most perfect shade I have ever used. It's the closest color to my skin and I have Southeast Asian skin so I have the warm yellowish/ golden tones. This foundation is very high quality and lasts all night long. Been wanting to try this for a while and so glad I finally have! I self-matched to 4WO which is a great match for my medium, golden but not overly warm Indian skin. So happy that Dior have olive based undertones, many other high-end brands still only offer neutral, warm, or cool none of which match me. This is so easy to apply, a little goes a long way and it buffs out beautifully. On my skin it leaves a natural semi-matte finish so looks like my skin but better. It's buildable so I use it as a concealer under my eyes. What's great is that it doesn't crease - something that has always tended to happen to me. It also doesn't oxidise on my skin - something that always happens to me too! This might be the best foundation so far. I finally received my order yesterday, and used the recommended colour while online in my Sephora account. I originally tried a sample in store of 4.5W...it was too dark. So I thought, let's try the recommended shade. I applied it yesterday over a bit of primer I put on my T zone, as I have combination skin, but my nose seems oilier lately. I applied a thin layer, and it really does look "like skin"! It was very hot and humid yesterday, so this was a big test to the make up. I was sweaty as well, but this foundation really did stay on! I couldn't believe it...I didn't have to blot my face, not even my nose!! It feels comfortable on my skin, and I think it has a slightly pleasant scent.
