I bought this as part of the Holiday EDP sampler set as I liked the sound of the notes in this perfume as well as the others in the set. I was especially keen on the rose and bergamot, but I'm truly disappointed to say I don't smell those notes at all. From the beginning I'm hit with an old-lady smell (the musty, heavy kind of scent) and once that dries down the predominant note I sense is patchouli and woodiness which lasts the longest of all. This perfume is too strong for work and being close to other people, plus on the off day could give me a headache. It's only at the end of the day that I can smell a faint whiff of a delicate floral which is its only redeeming feature. So if you like heavy amber and woody perfumes from the early 1900s, then you might like ... MoreI bought this as part of the Holiday EDP sampler set as I liked the sound of the notes in this perfume as well as the others in the set. Diptyque eau capitale EAU de parfum is a beautiful and versatile scent that is perfect for both day and night wear. The fragrance is composed of a blend of floral, woody, and spicy notes that create a complex and captivating aroma. The design and packaging of the perfume is also gorgeous, making it a perfect gift for a loved one or for yourself. I personally love to spray it in the morning and it lasts all day, which is a great value. Overall, I highly recommend Diptyque eau capitale EAU de parfum for anyone looking for a high-quality, long-lasting fragrance that is both beautiful and versatile. Everyone who smells it on me always compliments it.

This is a really intriguing scent. I tried it in the store originally on a hot day and really enjoyed the fruity masculinity of the scent. I didnt buy it immediately but the memory lingered and I ordered it online when I got home. I have tried it a few times and I’m on the fence about it. I am definitely glad it is in my collection and expect I will reach for it more as the weather cools into the autumn.

Not for me
15 January 2023

I received a travel size of this perfume in a discovery set recently. Perfume is really personal and this one is just not my style. It's beautifully done, I can appreciate that. However, the combination of strong notes of rose and patchouli come across really harsh to me and more masculine than I would like. It even is a bit smoky to me. I won't be purchasing a full bottle.

Obsessed -gorgeous winter fragrance on regular rotation.
25 April 2023

I usually wear Eau des Sens but coming into winter and have been in a French mood lately so added this one to the collection. I'm obsessed and wearing everyday. It lasts for hours on the skin and is very elegant and sexy. Will also be getting the hair mist and this will be a regular perfume for me forever. It is that classic French Chypre but I wouldn't say it's too old lady like, certainly not compared to say Number 5, Arpege, Youth Dew or something of that era. Never would have guessed I'd be wearing a strong patchouli but this is perfectly done (like most things Diptyque)!

Really fabulous and different perfume
15 April 2023

I was sitting next to someone in a nail bar when this beautiful waft of fragrance hit me! It came in waves without being overpowering and it was so lovely I had to ask what perfume the lady was wearing. I had been looking for a new fragrance and was optimistic about the lasting durability as the lady said she'd put it on first thing in the morning and it was now early afternoon. Perfume always seems to disappear on me really quickly even the most expensive ones and even if I layer up so I decided to try a sampler spritz of this in store and was amazed that my daughter noticed it lingering later that day so I didn't hesitate and next day treated myself and I'm happy to say I have received compliments even after a few hours so I'm a very happy customer!!

I love this line and jave loved every fragrance I have collected throughout many years ,but this one for sp.e reason doesn't please me at all.infact Im disapponted. To me this fragrance smells like old product that's been sitting around for a long time. Everything Diptyque makes is amazing. So Im embarrassed to comment. But i will participate because its Nordstroms and I LOVE MY NORDSTROMS.Eau Capotale Eau de Parfum istheproduct.

The Dark Side of Rose
24 September 2021

If you crave a dark "gothy" rose and patchouli scent then this will satisfy you! Yes, it gets compared to "The One That Is Contractually Obligated to Be Compared To" whenever a rose/patch perfume is mentioned. I'm referring of course to Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle, and yes, there is a sliver of similarity because rose and patchouli make a distinctive accord. No rose/patch perfume can escape the shadow of POAL because it's now become the standard to which all rose/patch perfumes are measured. Eau Capitale to me smells smooth and polished as it doesn't have any spice or powder, no raspy notes that might stick out or interrupt the sleekness. It feels like a cool, dark, glossy kind of a rose and patchouli. When I wear it I want to wear all black, slip on a pair ... MoreIf you crave a dark "gothy" rose and patchouli scent then this will satisfy you! Too masculine at first
3 September 2022

I got a 7.5ml bottle of this as part of a beautifully packaged 5 piece tester set. This scent was my least favourite. While I wear a lot of gender fluid fragrances, this one does seem quite masculine when first applied. It's very strong but is at least long lasting. However, once it settles the berries and a little rose comes through - but you have to make an effort to find them by sniffing all around your wrist! I didn't spray it on my neck as it's just too overwhelming. Not for me.

What A Beauty
20 January 2020

I was intrigued to find out Diptyque created a perfume dedicated to Paris and for some reason I was slightly inclined that it wouldn't live up to my expectations of it, but how wrong was I! From the moment I saw the packaging (those illustrations are worthy to be displayed on the wall by themselves!) to the beautiful hefty bottle to the first spray, I straight away knew this was everything and more than I hoped it to be. It is such a fantastic blend that it is actually hard to find words to describe it, but you can expect the most interesting rose coupled with patchouli and slight peppery feel to it, words do not do it justice. The longevity on the skin is very high and clothes would keep it for even longer. And as someone who lived in Paris for quite a while, I can totally feel the Parisian vibes to it! A coffee in Café de Flore, a walk by the Seine in afternoon sunlight, a stroll through the galleries in Saint Germain - it encapsulates all that for me and more. This might be THE perfume of 2020 for me. I just hope that Diptyque would make it a permanent addition to the collection, rather than it being a limited edition! It's unforgettable.
