This review is for the 'solid EDP' version of L'Ombre Dans L'Eau. I tried the EDT itself back in November, alongside the solid EDP and found I preferred it more in the solid form. This solid alcohol-free perfume comes in a beautiful decorated black case with a swan design on the front and presented in a velvet bag, which I thought was original. When you open the lid it almost seems like a compact foundation, only compact foundations don't smell this divine! It’s also perfect for travel due to its compact size, and with restrictions on liquids in airports - this is ideal. I haven't ever really tried Diptyque fragrance before, though I was familiar with the candles. This fragrance is very fresh and herbaceous, like spring in a bottle. Has notes of rose, blackcurrant buds, petitgrain and blackcurrant leaves. I can definitely pick up the black currant and petitgrain. Interesting and more unusual, just how I like my fragrances. Petitgrain is from the leaves and twigs of the Seville bitter orange tree, so it has woodsy, fresh notes with a tiny hint of floral. Upon the first spray, the herbaceous notes really pop. On the dry down its a bit more woodsy. A must try!

At first, it reminded me some herbal hair conditioner, but I should note that i like it and it’s not a bad sign or something, just an interesting fact. I’m not familiar with a EDT version so I can’t compare them. As for a EDP version it’s a deep green herbal scent, maybe with a hint of sweetness. It’s a very calming and cozy scent. And I don’t remember hearing it from anyone. Overall, 5/5 stars, love it.

I am obsessed with this fragrance, especially in the summer. L’Ombre Dans L’Eau has very fresh notes and fruity, which makes it wearable in every situation. Every skin will have a different final result, and I recommend to give it a try! I love it because I can smell it also after a whole day and having sprayed it in the morning. Diptyque has really strong scents and original notes.

A rose fragrance suitable for men

This was a completely unexpected buy for me. On a day of smelling lots of scents I left with lots of samples to try out; this was one sample that stood out! I spritzed some on before work and received nothing but compliments all day. When I returned home I still smelled it on me. With all the compliments and longevity of the fragrance I had no other choice but to order the fragrance that night! It's a complex rose fragrance, and it has a deepness, freshness and complexity that I love.

Beautiful scent

I was recently gifted a Diptyque perfume discovery set and so far this is my favourite scent. It’s very reminiscent of the Baies candle so if you like that, I think you’ll love this. It’s light and fresh and not really sweet or traditional rose scent at all, which for me is all the better. The blackcurrent is more prominent and it reminds me of notes of fresh tomato candles too. I find it lasts fairly well for an EDT. To sweeten it up ever so slightly I’ve been mixing it with the Fig scent in the set (Philosykos) as I’m not the biggest Fig fan. The combination is gorgeous, so think this will layer well with other slightly sweeter scents to mix it up a bit.

Fresh spring/summer fragrance

This smells so fresh and natural, like berries mixed with freshly cut grass.. Although this has similar notes as the Baies candle, this perfume is much less sweeter than Baies and much greener instead. This is such a sophisticated and inoffensive scent, perfect for the workplace. I can't imagine anyone disliking this perfume. Projection and lasting power could be better though.

A lot of scents smell good but are often too strong, making me nauseous or irritating my nose, make my body temperature too warm, or have afternote smells which couldn't be determined in-store but only after a long day of wear. On a totally spontaneous shopping trip, I tested Diptyque's L'Ombre Dans L'Eau and absolutely loved the smell. It's very fresh and green at first spray, later evolving into a lightly floral, powdery, sweet (but not sickly) candy. It is consistent in strength throughout most of the day, and I can still smell it on me eight hours later. I've never been so satisfied with a scent, the beautiful swan illustration and the sturdy bottle were the icing on the cake. I will never EVER forget the day I first smelled this perfume. It was like entering an alternate universe where the perfume I had always dreamed about was finally presented to me. my head nearly exploded. I couldn't believe what I was smelling. The rose and black current is heaven. I agree with other reviewers about the tomato vine aspect. Its floral, sweet and green but also super earthy. Nothing else like it exists and nothing I have EVER smelled has ever blown me away like this.

Nice and potent

Great scent from Diptyque. It's strong when lit, and also has a great cold throw. Gives amazing smell to medium size /large living room. Probably too potent for small bedroom. There's a strong natural honey comb scent. If you don't like this type of sweetness in your candles, might not be the one for you. As always with Diptyque, lasts a long time and burns evenly.
