Refresh your mood by lighting the Choisya/ Orange Blossom Scented Candle from Diptyque. In February in the South of France, on the Tanneron hills near Grasse, the mimosas are in bloom. Their sunny golden yellow color stretches as far as the eye can see, and their small velvety blossoms scent the air with velvety, delicately honeyed notes.

Though I’m not generally a fan of jammy, fruity florals, is pure nostalgia for me: this was the scent that greeted me in a hotel on a fantastic holiday. The notes of blackcurrant and roses have a sensual warmth I especially enjoy in autumn and winter. Unlike many rose-based scents, I detect no powdery element to Baies. The throw is excellent, with a single candle easily filling our main living area. The strength is moderate: my partner detests heavily perfumed candles, but enjoys Diptyque candles when burned for a few hours at a time. If left burning for 6+ hours, there’s a ~3m radius around the candles that has a much stronger scent. Burning as we do in intervals, Diptyque candles last around a week. I’d estimate they have a 60-70hour burn time. After you extinguish the candle, the scent hangs around for a couple hours before dissipating. Because a 3 hour burn results in ~5 hours of scent, Diptyque candles are fairly economical and accessible for luxury candles at ~$70USD. Diptyque candles burn very cleanly *provided you trim the wick*. There are some candles I burn straight through without trimming the wick with no issue, but every Diptyque I’ve purchased starts smoking after 3-5 hours unless I clip the burnt bit at the top. This isn’t really an issue, as the scent becomes stronger after 3-5 hours and we extinguish them then anyway.

I have recently purchased quite a few candles. This one is a definite stand out! It’s so perfectly balanced.. green and fresh, nutty and slightly sweet. Very calming. I think my dogs even like the smell because one likes to curl up near it where they usually will stay right away from overwhelming smells. My fave candles are this one, Diptyque Vanille, Tom Ford Lost Cherry, Byredo Bohemia, Loose Lips and Saffran. Surprisingly I am not a fan of Baies or Fig by Diptyque. But the Le labo does a lovely fig.Definitely try this candle, you won’t be disappointed:)

This candle deserves hundreds of stars. Diptyque captured a gorgeous vanilla fragrance that’s such a lovely scent year-round, no matter the season - it’s could be cold and rainy or a warm summer evening - this fragrance always delights. It’s complex, has depth and character - not overly sweet. There’s some spice in it! All Diptyque candles are beautifully made with gorgeous packaging and they do last a very long time. Even after the candle is gone, the glass can be repurposed for so many things. Will always have one of these Vanille candles in my home inventory!! Highly recommend!!

I received this candle today. I knew the brand Diptyque but not the fragrance of Baies. It was bought as a birthday treat to myself. It's absolutely glorious, a fresh, intoxicating and clean scent which makes our lounge smell absolutely beautiful without the candle even being lit.The candle, however when unboxed wasn't pristine. All of the way around the inside lip of the glass holder and going almost down to the candle there was a covering of very thick and unslightly wax (I think it can be wiped off)As a very expensive candle it's disappointing I have to do that, it really should be perfect when unboxed as it's a premium product.I'd be really embarrassed if I'd bought it for a gift because it looked like it should of beenrejected before being boxed and ... MoreI received this candle today. This candle smells unlike any other candle I have bought. It smells like a crackling fire and is warm and woody, rather than green or floral. Diptyque always have such sophisticated scents and this is no different - it is a beautiful fragrance. I would say it's best to burn as the nights start drawing in as Autumn begins. By the time it gets to December I am always ready for more spicy, cinnamon, clove or orange scents (so original!). It doesn't get 5 stars from me only because Baies is my absolute favourite candle scent and nothing can come close to that, but that is a very high bar! The quality of Diptyque candles are incredible, the burn time is very good and I always re-use the jars after the candle has finished. They would make a fantastic gift!
Tl;Dr this candle smells like the lovechild of a Swedish wood fire and 1985 Bounty dryer sheets. Its a scent combination that sounds utterly bizarre but somehow hits every nostalgia note I never knew I had, and inspires raving, "OMG WHAT is that scent, your house smells SO GOOD!" from guests. It's smoky without being too smoky, sweet without being cloying, slightly spicy without smelling like a cinnamon roll. Clean, fresh, earthy, COZY. Light it, curl up in an overstuffed English roll arm chair with your cat, hot tea and a warm cookie, and a good book (or your favorite version of Emma, or some embroidery) and VIBEThe 6.5 clear vessel burns for about 60 hours. Make sure your first burn is 8 hours or so -- enough to melt the entire surface so that the candle ... MoreTl;Dr this candle smells like the lovechild of a Swedish wood fire and 1985 Bounty dryer sheets. I splurged and have no regrets. It's a comforting, almost familiar smelling fragrance but I can't place it. It's smooth, subtle yet wafts distinctively through the house. The fragrance is warm and smooth, almost creamy. Its very pleasing. I work from home and like to have a nice candle burning near my desk - the gentle flame and fragrance is soothing and really helps to reduce stress whilst at work. The glass jar is surprisingly substantial. I like the amber coloured glass effect. My only gripe is that the clear label on the jar is a little wonky. For such an expensive and luxury brand, I expect a bit of attention to detail.
Unfortunately, I didn’t even get to light this candle up before returning it back to the store. For a candle that costs that much, I was so disappointed when I opened the packaging and saw that the wax had “wet spots”, making it appear like it hasn’t been poured properly. I have seen candles from different price points much lower than $80+ that are better presented and smelt better than this. I simply couldn’t understand this because Jo Malone candles for example cost much more but are still able to deliver well presented looking candles. For a higher end candle like Diptyque’s my expectations were not met, and on returning this, the sales assistant advised me that this was “normal” and all Diptyque the candles had this. For a higher end candle like Diptyque’s my expectations were not met, and on returning this, the sales assistant advised me that this was “normal” and all Diptyque the candles had this. If Diptyque or Mecca included this in their website or product description as something “normal”, I probably would have been less disappointed, but there is zero information saying this was normal. To top it off, I couldn’t even get a refund because the plastic packaging was opened, despite the candle itself not being used. If you care about the presentation and how the actual product looks on your table/desk etc, forget about getting a diptyque as all you’ll see are these wet spots that look quite cheap.
Prefacing this review with some logistical annoyances:1. Mecca - all online only fragrances should still have testers in at least one store per city.2. I wasn't able to find a list of the notes for the candle anywhere with certainty. 'Voluptuousness' does not evoke a scent memory. But I quite like musk fragrances, so this had always been on my radar, although it took me ages to be willing to potentially waste $100 on a candle.Overall, I quite like it. It's warm, woody, sort of churchy but very elegant and a bit sexy. Since you can't smell it anywhere, for reference I also really like diptyque's 34 candle, their 34 black perfume, roses, baies, and often their Christmas candles. Other candles I like to use are MFK's baccarat rouge and Mud Australia's amber pillar.
