As a lifelong photographer with no drone experience whatsoever, the DJI Mini 3 Pro and its accompanying remote control unit leave nearly nothing of consequence to be desired. Both items reflect great attention to detail in design and development. The drone weighs less than 250 grams (about a half pound) with the included battery and does not require registration with the FAA. Heavier batteries are available that increase expected flight time, but I have no desire to register my device for recreational use. The touch screen remote control is very intuitive and fits naturally in my two hands. Communication is not direct, but is established though connections with multiple satellites. Heavier batteries are available that increase expected flight time, but I have no desire to register my device for recreational use. The touch screen remote control is very intuitive and fits naturally in my two hands. Communication is not direct, but is established though connections with multiple satellites. Where I live, connections are abundant which will allow me to make impressive flights once I am fully comfortable with all of my drone functions.Aside from a useless startup guide, there is no instruction book included. While that terrified me at first, I found many introductory videos on YouTube that were thorough and were not in the least condescending for a novice. DJI also has some video tutorials but I found them to be plodding and unhelpful. After a couple hours of watching the tutorials that I liked (find ones you like and avoid anything you don't like!), I approached my first flight without any confusion or hesitation. Watching someone else go through the design of the flight app demystified the process and illustrated how intuitively the interface has been designed.I only had three problems I wish I had known more about before my first flight: (1) I should have gotten a much faster microSD card (my older ones gave me some glitchy transfer problems in the drone which prompted a much appreciated alert on the RC), (2) I realized that I don't own a 30+ watt USB Type-C charger (my weaker chargers will charge the drone to capacity but the process is dreadfully slow), & (3) I found out that the drone air-cools itself in flight and can overheat while idle (this came out during the LENGTHY firmware update when the drone shut down from overheating during the software install!).Flight times with the included battery are quoted as exceeding 30 minutes but are effectively less than that (the drone will not allow the battery to die at a distance and will return to its starting place to insure that it doesn't just drop from the sky). The heavier battery would add another 10+-ish minutes to a flight. Because of the charge time with my weak chargers, I kept my initial flights anchored at my house. The camera is magnificent. The sensor in this camera is larger than the ones in previous DJI "entry" drones and they are boasting its improved dynamic range - it is excellent and provides stunning still and video captures but it is NOT a sensor that should be considered truly "professional" (such a camera would be WAY too heavy). It has a fixed aperture f/1.7 lens that boasts impressive low-light performance. The actual camera is capable of rotating 90° to capture true vertical framing for people who want to capture amazing vertical content that isn't just cropped horizontal content (the rotation is as easy as a single screen tap).DJI is not playing around with their camera and drone technology. Specializing in imaging devices with stabilization and motion tracking, they have not entered the market to play. At the highest end of what they manufacture are professional tracking drones with thermal imaging capabilities. The DJI Mini 3 Pro benefits from an army of design professionals - it benefits from advances made to support drones of much higher caliber. The drone is impossibly small - it looks like a toy but is clearly not a toy. The (propeller) arms fold back onto the body of the drone - two laterally and two rotationally (they can be extended in any order). Though compact and very light, there is nothing that feels fragile about the drone (aside from the camera head which is protected by a cover when the drone is not in use). It is literally whisper quiet in operation and flight - when I flew it for the first time (straight up) it was inaudible after only two seconds (and way out of sight on a bright day) - it will never be a nuisance in a public location. But it's the remote control that is a HUGE selling point for this package. I would never consider having a phone drone - my phone is very smart but I don't like installing new apps for products and I don't want to risk a problem dealing with a work call while I'm trying to follow myself down the street with a drone. Plus, the touch screen "tablet" has been integrated with the flight controls seamlessly - everything fits comfortably in my two hands and operation is immediately intuitive (after watching videos!). Anything you see on screen can be tapped to take you to the information you want it to lead you to. There are trigger finger buttons for video start/stop and for photo focus/snap (and the application switches automatically between the two). There are two buttons on the bottom (middle fingers) that you can assign functions to based on your specific repetitive tasks. My single (SINGLE) gripe about the RC is that the screen can't compete with direct sunlight - at the very least you will need to lean over to shade the control with the shadow of your torso to reliably navigate the control.Between the remote and the associated software, you have control over almost everything imaginable: photo/video modes, focus tracking settings, modes for special captures like panorama or moving time-lapse (hyperlapse), take-off and landing, and object avoidance. Yes, the DJI Mini 3 Pro has sensors facing forward, backward, and below that allow it to maneuver around perceived obstacles (or to just stop in front of them). There is no lateral obstacle avoidance (which can present a problem if you are having the drone follow you parallel to your direction of movement). My own experiments with motion tracking (me) have been very successful in daylight but sketchy at night (problems with confusion about obstacles). One of the design elements that I have found to be mind-boggling is how well this system handles image stabilization. Because the drone is so light, sometimes if takes off and stops like a cartoon character - rearing back and lurching forward - and I can see the drone dancing around in even the slightest breeze. But all of my test images and videos have been stable as a rock (with the horizon never deviating from true horizontal). The package came with two pair of replacement propellers (one each for front/back - it looks like they are different) and a tiny Phillips screwdriver. What I have provided above is, quite literally, the simplest overview I could possibly write. The specs page for this pair of products WAY exceeds what I have written here. This is a release that is prompting LENGTHY print and video reviews that cover mostly universal excitement. This system makes intelligent choices automatically but allows for users to make settings choices at an incredibly granular level (you can have that point-and-shoot or manual selection experience). With what I can only describe from myself as a raving and enthusiastic recommendation for this system, I would like to conclude with two minor-ish gripes: (1) The microSD card slot on the drone is CRAZY difficult to deal with - cards are difficult to click-in and are fiendishly difficult to remove (I keep my fingernails short but they have never been the source of a problem for me dealing with a microSD card), & (2) Drone images on bright days here where there is water everywhere have convinced me that this drone (any drone?) could benefit from a polarization filter*.*DJI produces a series of neutral density filters (basically sunglasses) for this drone that limit the amount of light entering the camera (there is a specific purpose for these filters that I don't personally like or desire) - I have mostly noticed the annoying glare from the reflection of sunlight on water that I would like to remove.I have attached two photos from my third flight (the first one where I took any images) - mostly shooting from a short range around the airspace above my house in late twilight - conditions are actually hazy here so I guarantee you that what you can see in these photographs has its clarity obscured by meteorological conditions. They're stunning.I have ordered a backup battery pack. With that plus my accumulated couple hours of video time plus a couple hours of home-bound flight time, I'll be ready for absolutely ANYTHING.This is amazing.

I bought this drone specifically because I wanted to start building a collection of sky images for my landscape photos, but the field of view is so wide that all the interesting stuff at the horizon is too small to use. I wish that there was an interchangeable telephoto lens you could put on the camera so you can get the details out in the distance.2. There are WAY more flight restrictions than I realized, limiting where you can actually fly your drone. I wanted to take it out to State and National parks but, nope, you can't (some States apparently allow you to fly...you have to do research though.) I wanted to use the drone to fly over to waterfalls and places that I can't hike to, but I'm not sure how possible that will end up being.Despite those two things, this thing really is amazing! The bag that comes with the Fly More Kit seems to be a little snug to fit the drone and all the accessories and batteries and stuff. But it's light and compact, so I'm still using it. If you want a little more breathing room for your drone, you might want to get one of the other bag/tote/backpack options out there.

But it's light and compact, so I'm still using it. If you want a little more breathing room for your drone, you might want to get one of the other bag/tote/backpack options out there.
This drone is very nice. I decided to test this one to see how it compared to one I bought several years ago, however there are so many new features on the DJI Mini 3 Pro that comparing it with my older drone would be cruelI love the fact that the Mini 3 Pro is compact and lightweight, although I'm a bit concerned about how well the forward facing arms will hold up after repeated rotation during the unfolding/folding process... I guess we'll have to wait and see on that. One thing that stood out right after unboxing was that the box didn't contain a charger or a carrying bag. I have chargers that fit the bill, as well as an extra camera bag I can use when travelling, but for $900, they should just throw something in for good measure.Just out of the box, and ... MoreThis drone is very nice. I have chargers that fit the bill, as well as an extra camera bag I can use when travelling, but for $900, they should just throw something in for good measure.Just out of the box, and after fully charging the drone and remote (a total of about 1.5 hrs), I ran into an issue when trying to set up an account. For some reason my entering of the captcha kept failing. Finally after 10+ attempts it succeeded and I was able to update the firmware for drone. Here again, I ran into issues. The download was VERY slow, and actually failed twice. Of course the drone was on during this whole process and when I checked it after the second failed attempt, it was quite hot, so I shut everything down and tried again after it cooled off. For the third attempt, I switched the remote Wi-Fi connection to 2.4GHz instead of 5, and everything went smoothly. I'm not sure what the problem was, especially since my phones and laptop, which were right there, were both connected to 5Ghz had great signal strength and bandwidth. My first flight made me realize how convenient it is to have a remote with a screen instead of having to use my phone. The video feed from the drone to the remote is flawless, even when the drone is behind trees (although more solid objects might change that). The flight controls are straight forward, responsive, and easy to use. I had the drone zipping around my property in no time, and was able to see the collision avoidance in action a few times when I flew past trees. The drone is extremely stable and responds instantly to commands. Even in slightly breezy conditions, there were no control issues. Flight time is supposed to be about 30+ mins, but I haven't pushed this one past 25 mins even though the on screen meter was showing more available flight time. As far as noise, the drone is fairly quiet, but I believe it might be a bit louder than my previous one... based solely on the reaction of the deer. They seem to pick it up and become wary at about 75-100ft, whereas the other drone could get within 50ft. Maybe it's just a different pitch and that's what they're reacting to. The only 'issue' I had with control was when there was too much glare on the screen. Although I love the screen being part of the remote, I did have trouble seeing it clearly at all times; on occasion, the sun created enough glare that the screen brightness couldn't compensate for it, and I had to find a tree for shade. However, at one point, I had lost sight of the drone, I was out in a field away from trees, and the sun popped out from behind clouds. I couldn't shield the screen well enough to tell which way the drone was facing, so I used the RTH button; the drone actually beat me back to the driveway. Other than the screen brightness, the video feed and other flight feedback on the remote is great. The gimbal on the drone is another huge plus. The ability to pan up as well as down is a huge advantage, and the capability to switch from landscape to portrait mode, and back, at the touch of a button on the screen is very useful. Again, the controls for camera tilt, as well as zoom, are well positioned and effortless to use; once you know they're there, you don't even have to think about using them, you just do. The video and pictures this drone produces are very nice, but for work related reasons I can't install the DJI Fly app, since it's not on the Apple or Google stores, so I have to pull the card from the drone, which isn't that really that big of a deal.Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed this drone for the short time I've had it. It's very compact and lightweight, and yet its performance for its size is quite incredible. If you're looking for a compact drone that will allow you to capture some amazing videos or still pictures, you should seriously take a look at this product.
I am a fairly new drone operator, so I haven't had much experience with other DJI drones, but I can definitely say that the Mini 3 pro packs a huge punch. It's extremely easy to use, and the RC remote streamlines the setup and flying process-it makes flying the drone much simpler, without having to hookup your phone. The screen is bright enough to use in direct sunlight. I was also able to customize the controls to my personal preference, which made flying much smoother and simpler. With the kit, the drone stores nicely in the padded carry bag with the extra batteries, charging dock, and controller. There's a small pocket in the top to store the extra propeller blades and the screwdriver. The drone itself handles extremely well in a variety of conditions-especially wind. I was able to bring it up and record steady video with sustained winds of 40mph and gusts to 60 mph; it absolutely outperformed my expectations. (I didn't fly it anywhere I couldn't safely retrieve it for the windy flight). During one of my flights, it started drizzling rain, so I brought it back, and landed it without issue, and gave it a wipe down. It didn't have any issues being briefly sprinkled on.As I was flying in the mountains and valleys, the drone would lose connection to the remote occasionally, and would do exactly as programmed and begin the return to home. It was definitely nerve wracking the first time, but I felt much better knowing that it would perform as designed. The quality of the video and still photos are also fantastic, and I'm having a lot of fun testing the predetermined flight routes and "Point of interest," to get some some really beautiful shots. This drone is a wonderful, compact addition to my photography/ videography arsenal, and I could not be happier with the purchase. It's worth every penny, and it's really nice to have the extra batteries and propellers on hand as part of the kit!
I am what you may call a “noob” when it comes to drones, and I have bought two so far, having returned one of them. The one I kept is this Mini 3 Pro while the one I returned is the DJI Avata. Why I am mentioning this is because the Avata and the Mini 3 are sometimes compared as to which would be better for a beginner, because they can both be considered beginner drones in their own respective categories. As for why I returned the Avata, other than it not being quite “my cup of tea,” it is because the price adds up quickly if you wish to get invested in the drone, so if you are not willing to part with nearly 2 grand, as well as wanting a calmer done experience, then I 100% recommend the Mini 3 Pro. Just to get the pricing out of the way this drone, including a controller will have you part ways with either $759 or $909, the cheaper of the two comes with a controller of which you use your phone as the screen to see what the drone is seeing, while the more expensive of the two has a built in screen, which is more intuitive in my opinion. I will also add on that the former gets better range connectivity, while the ladder is far more convenient and has a bit more features on the controller itself, so it is up to you at the end of the day. As for how the drone itself functions, it is a dream to fly, along with the amazing camera, which often surprises my friends because of the shockingly good quality in such a small camera, and not to mention the smart features on this half a pound drone, it is all truly mind blowing. The only real extra purchase that most normal people such as me will consider is the fly more kit, which will come with some extra propellers, 2 extra batteries, a charger that can charge 3 batteries at once, as well as a carrying bag with can carry all of your Mini Drone possessions. You can either get the normal fly more kit or the fly more kit plus, the only difference being the batteries, the normal fly more kit will give you batteries that have a flight time of 34 minutes, and will keep you under 250 grams (which may be helpful to you depending on your countries drone weight requirements), while the fly more kit plus gives you batteries that have 47 minutes of flight time, which will also put you over the 250 gram mark. The normal fly more kit will cost you $189, getting the plus combo will add another $60 to that price tag. All of this may sound like a lot of cash, but when you see what you are getting, it is worth it, there are plenty of other drones out there that cost more but are not worth the extra price. So if you can afford it, and wish to get into drones, then I would say this is the drone for you.
I have been interested in a DJI drone since the first model was released years ago, waited for the retail technology to finally hit pro level and align with an affordable price and here we are first drone ever purchased DJI Mini 3, ordered during the initial pre-order and waited 2 months for arrival...definitely worth the wait...easy as a toy to fly and ab incredible amount of precision and technology in this small package. Spent some time in the settings to establish the parameters for flight controls and image capture, i also set to fly with the active map in the corner of the remote screen for additial location reference. The drone has auto-take off and auto-landing ..cannot get any easier. I was up to 300' and flying around my neighborhood in minutes. Imaging on the remote screen is excellent, controls are perfect, I have been flying with 20-30 satellites connected. The active avoidance removes the risk of hitting anything mid-flight, the remote has a good amount of buttons but if your familiar with any modern video game controller you will not have any issues. Reviewed my 4k video capture after the flight....incredible vivid footage. I cannot wait to bring this drone along when I travel. Very impressed with the overall package, I have also ordered the fly more extended life batteries and case. I am not a content creator or a drone flying enthusiast, just a normal guy who likes to try out new tech. If your like me you will be blown away at what this DJI mini 3 has to offer.

I will try to focus on some of the key features that i felt helped it stand out. So right out of the gate rather your new to flying drones or an expert the DJI mini offers a free app that allows you to store and edit your footage. But besides that it also offers tutorial videos which help coach you in the way of basic and advanced features and videography. Charge time takes about almost 2 hours for a full charge and based on your settings you will get about 20 mins of run time. It does offer manual and automatic take off and landing however with the automatic return home feature you need to make sure that the drone has a clear path or it will not properly land. Speaking of which there was actually a few times i tried to use the auto return when hiking in the woods and the surrounding trees caused it to just pretty much give up and hover there forcing me to put it in sport mode and manually bring the drone home. There are 3 different modes available for flying offering 3 different styles. First is cinematic mode. In this mode the drones speed, pitch and yaw are all reduced allowing for smoother transitions and the cameras recording gets ramps up its picture quality. This mode allows for the cleanest most picturesque shots. Normal mode allows for the drone to utilize alot of the automated features and quite honestly feels like it should be labeled beginner mode due to all the over riding it does. Sport mode allows for full hands on deck manual controlling of the drone and maxes out the speed allowing you to keep up with all the fast pace action you are trying to capture. The app does have a "find my drone feature" which will give you a gps pinpoint location of its latest ping. The heads up display on the remote offers a google maps style layout which also shows some of the local no fly zones, however keep in mind it does not label all no fly zones so it is your responsibility to be aware of them. If you get too close to the no fly zones the drone will limit its altitude and speed. As far as max altitude and distance this is very heavily dependent of signal strength and interference. In the city parks i was able to get about half a mile out with a altitude of about 3000 feet. Now when i was out at a buddies ranch where his nearest neighbor was 3 miles down, i got a range of almost 4 miles out with a peak altitude of 5000 feet roughly. Keep in mind everyone's rang is going to vary however these were the two noticeable differences i saw. City flying definitely sucked as there was just way too much radio interference. Now as far as creator content goes this drone offers quite a bit of features and i am going to touch on just a few to give you a idea of what this drone is capable of. Active track is one feature that i used quite a bit. Within active track you can highlight people or cars that you would like the drone to track. You can manually set your distance then chose how you want the drone to track. On this feature you can chose to track the object through parallel or trace. With parallel the drone will fly alongside you automatically while avoiding obstacles along the way. Trace allows the drone to follow behind the highlighted object while avoiding obstacles as well. This feature eliminates the need for a hands on control to get your intended shots. Keep in mind that while it does have obstacle avoidance it is still prone to hitting objects so it really is best to use this feature in a open environment. Another feature that thought was pretty cool was its spiral shot. After highlighting the intended object and setting your distance the drone will spiral around the intended object while either gaining altitude and decreasing altitude. Combining this the cameras true vertical angles means you can really get some nice features for photo editing.Overall this is a awesome drone that is very compact and very light offering easy on the go storage. The price tag may seem hefty but when you really get in to all the AI features you soon learn it is money well spent. I have uploaded a shot i took in the mountains just to highlight its quality. Both the drone and remote do need a high speed micro SD card. And while it is not necessary to have a sd card in both of them to store footage it is necessary that the SD card be a high speed card. If you are looking to get the perfect shot for your stream or if you are a photographer trying to get those perfect wedding photos than this is a no brainer and a must have.
A very capable, light, compact and quiet drone. Good for someone's first drone, good for someone who needs a budget friendly, very compact and capable all around drone or good for someone who is specifically looking for a smaller or quieter drone such as myself. I already own a Mavic 3 Classic, but the M3C is loud due to the larger more powerful motors and larger props, and I wanted something that I could use to get shots that I need in more populated/busy areas or at lower altitudes with people around without everybody in the shot looking up into the sky and searching around to see if they can see the drone. Not really great if you are trying to get a natural video of an area where people happen to be, such as a popular tourist attraction or various events and gatherings.....The camera on this drone is really good for the size. In such a small compact camera they managed to squeeze out 4K at 60FPS and have it look very very good, with great colors right from the camera without having to shoot in RAW format and play with the colors, shadows and highlights in post. Most people using this drone will be more than satisfied even just using it in it's "auto" mode. I really like the fact that with this gimbal design, the camera is able to aim upward at quiet a steep angle, allowing you to get very unique shots of subjects or shots of the underside of something like a bridge. Also it has a vertical/portrait mode where you can get portrait (taller rather than wider) shots without it cropping the image and losing resolution, as the entire camera turns sideways in the gimbal. Very nice for getting up close to tall subjects, and using the previously mentioned ability to aim the camera farther upward, to get very unique and amazing shots. The drone is very capable in the air, even though it weighs less than 250 grams. There is no issue flying this drone in moderate winds of 10-15 MPH and even with gusts, the drone and gimbal do a great job at keeping the shot stable. I personally flew this drone while there were close to 20 MPH winds out and gusts that were much worse, and I didn't have any problem at lower altitude. At higher altitude you might get a "strong wind advisory", letting you know that you might not be able to return home due to wind, but all you need to do in this circumstance is drop you altitude and pay attention to your forward speed to make sure you're making progress... There are actually videos of this drone being able to hover in place in 35 MPH winds on mountain sides..Flight time for this drone, depending on the wind can be around 40-45 minutes.. I haven't personally timed any of my flights, but coming from my previous drones such as the Mavic 2 Pro, Air 2S, Mini and Mini 2, the battery life of this drone with the new battery technology is amazing and you get crazy long flight times. The controller that comes with the Mini 3 Pro is very nice with the built in touch screen. The screen is more than bright enough to view in direct sunlight. It features customizable buttons that you can set to perform various tasks such as re-centering the gimbal or setting the hyperlapse cruise control speed. This drone and controller have very good reception as well, allowing you to fly quiet a ways away.. Obviously it won't be right up at the quoted spec depending on your area because of interference from things like trees, buildings, power lines and whatnot, but it's more than enough to fly off t least 1/2 mile, to a mile or two away in order to get the shot you want if you can't just travel there to launch. For example, if you want to fly over water to another coast line, or follow a roadway or railroad track to get long lasting shot along side of the object,Simply put, if you are either looking for your first drone, or you want a very very capable drone that isn't going to break the bank, and will also be a lot quieter than the other drones, go with this drone.
