View your drone images on a large screen with the DJI RC Pro Remote. The screen is 5 inches, so you can see all the details of your recording without using your smartphone. The remote uses the O3+ video transmission technology. This is an improved version of OcuSync, a technology many drones have. In combination with the 4G network connection, you'll have a stable connection and fast communication with your drone. Stream your drone images live on social media. For this, you can download apps onto the remote, like Facebook and Instagram. You can download photos and videos with 80MB/s thanks to WiFi 6. With the outdoor mode, the screen automatically adjusts to the ambient light. That way, your screen will be clearly visible during a sunny day.

Before I start my review, I'd just like to point out something for comparison. The controller that came with the Mavic 2 for free and was more functional and could be hooked up to an iPad Mini for a cost of $350. You could use the more functional DJI GO4 app on the bigger iPad screen. So free plus $350 = $350. This has a smaller screen, no way to integrate with an app on an iPad and comes with a less functional app for $1200.It's hard to tell if this problem is the Mavic 3, the RC Pro, or (probably) both, but my mavic 2 connected to satellites within seconds of powering up and I could fly pretty much right after turning on the controller and drone. With the Mavic 3 and RC Pro, it takes MINUTES to connect to enough satellites to make the warnings go away (UPDATE: ... MoreBefore I start my review, I'd just like to point out something for comparison. With the Mavic 3 and RC Pro, it takes MINUTES to connect to enough satellites to make the warnings go away (UPDATE: DJI says this will be fixed in a firmware update for the drone). If you read my Mavic 3 review you know one of my big issues was the fairly functionless controller it came with. No 5D, C1, C2, exposure dial, no dual controller support, and no telemetry screen. The RC-Pro was supposed to fix most of that (the buttons).Imagine my surprise that there was no way to program any of the buttons to adjust the shutter or aperture. You could only program the 5D to increase or decrease EV, which only works in auto mode. So a controller with the word "Pro" in it for a drone priced for pros can't adjust shutter and aperture. The Mavic 2 controller (on it's awesome LCD screen) told you the exact battery percentage of the controller, this just has 4 green lights. Another step back.Using the dial to zoom is VERY NICE. The sticks are very nice. I will give them that. I'd like to see a way to bind a button such as C1 to toggle if the dial is used to zoom or change shutter or aperture. As for the rest of it, the controller feels MUCH better in my hands than the RC-N1. I wish it came with loops to screw into the bottom so I didn't have to search my local Ace.The screen is very nice and high quality but is very small. It is very annoying to scroll through the settings pages because there isn't enough room on the screen. I have changed slider settings by accident while trying to scroll up and down. I wish they designed the app more in mind for this smaller screen. For instance instead of having to scroll for the settings for cine, normal, and sport mode, it would be better to have a select dropdown or buttons on the top that changed the settings displayed, so so you didn't have to scroll.I wish there was a way to use my iPad instead or in addition to this very tiny screen. For the amount they charge for this ... just wow. Because of the cost of this and how it lacks such basic functionality right now, I can't in good conscience give it more than a 2. If they fix it to be able to use the extra buttons for actual useful functions (shutter and aperture) I can bump it up to a 3. There is no way this can ever be a 5 and I think even a 4 is out of reach. The only way I think this could be a 4 is if 1) they fix the buttons and 2) it was half the price and 3) they let you plug in a device via USB to use an app on a tablet with a bigger screen. There are 3 main components of this sUAS, the controller, the drone, and the app. There is no gracious relationship between the 3 of them.

Well i have given this RC Pro four stars because it is extremely pricey, but amazing regardless. Very sturdy build. I waited a day to unbox it and link up to the Mavic 3. Why I dont know. It connected quickly after activation, and software updates. I disnt have to find a way to unpair my orginal remote. The screen is brighter than i was thinking it would be which is a plus. While the DJI fly app leaves much to be desired, this controller allows me to assign tasks to the customizable buttons!! Overall, ill build a bridge and get over the price, but with all the conveniences this RC provides ‘I’ll get over it. I live in a suburban area with plenty of trees and, wifi, and radio interference like most neighborhoods but i have not had connection issues at all. There is a little-known feature in DJI's newer apps that automatically logs you out of your DJI account after a specified amount of time and renders the controller and drone useless. Yesterday when I was on a remote job site, I fired up the the RC Pro Remote only to have the app inform me that I was logged out of my account and needed to log back in. I was far from cellular access. There is nothing about this in any of the descriptions of theproduct or in the manuals. But after posting the experience in DJIForum, I was informed by a DJI employee that the app automatically logs you out after 3 months for security reasons. It had just been used on a job a few days prior and there was absolutely no warning in the app about the impending auto-logout.Without being logged in, the app limited my flights to a max of 30meters elevation and 50 meters distance. I spent 30 minutes trying, in vain, to figure out a work-around. Consequently, I lost the best lighting on a 2000-foot cliff behind the property I was hired to shoot.Aside from yesterday's costly disaster, I really like the RC Pro Remote. While the display is still a bit small, it is bright enough to be useful on a sunny day.

As the other user stated below, the auto log out issues are real and a serious impediment to being productive on jobs or outings in areas with no wifi or cell service. I bought my Mavic 3 Cine with the RC Pro in August of last year from B&H. I took the kit to Iceland where it was simply fantastic. Once I returned there was an update for the drone and remote. So I read the description and decided it was worth it and did the update. When I restarted I had to log back into DJI via the app on the remote, no big deal, right? Wrong. No matter how often you fly or if you fly not at all, after one month, the app logs you out. There was no heads up from DJI about this, there is no schedule you can follow, no on screen warning you can set, nothing. There was no heads up from DJI about this, there is no schedule you can follow, no on screen warning you can set, nothing. I have done tests with other DJI drones that can use this controller and the regular DJI RC Remote does not pull this stunt with my Mavic 3 Cine, Mavic 3 Pro or Mini 3 Pro, it simply fires up and you are off and running. A user on the DJI boards has said that his Air 2 using the RC Pro also logs him out.For those of us who work professionally in remote areas like the Arctic, Greenland, South America, etc where great drones like the new Mavic 3 Pro are amazing tools, this is a serious show stopper. Even for people working in not so remote areas the notion of potentially having your drone be majorly handicapped until you can log in somehow takes the "Pro" aspect of this RC right out of the equation. I really hope DJI is working on a fix, because of this, the regular RC Remote is more of a Pro option than this one is.
This is a much appreciated update to original Smart Controller, and it delivers! Yes, it's running Android 10, yes, the TriplTek 8 is larger, a little brighter, etc., I do use it with other aircraft in my fleet. However, to get the most out of the Mavic 3, this is a must. I purchased the Cine version at launch mostly because of the RC Pro being included and I am very glad I did. The 1TB SSD in the aircraft is yet another bonus. The RC PRO and aircraft were updated almost a month early which really squashed most of the annoying bugs found at launch. The HDMI MINI output is fantastic, and with an upcoming firmware update hopefully DJI will get the "save to micro SD" enabled. In the meantime, side-loading apps to handle file management works quite well. Highly recommended!
Being a DJI Smart Controller user for many years, it is impossible to review the RC Pro without comparing it with its predecessor. The following are some of the pros and cons I have found.RC Pro improvements:* Better and faster processor. It boots up very fast and loads the DJI Fly app way faster.* It is 25 grams lighter.* The operating time has increased by half an hour.* It has an improved video transmission system.* It connects with more satellites, improving GPS coverage.* The turning-on sequence now simulates the drones: one quick press, release, and then press and hold.RC Pro cons:* It has a mini-HDMI port for video output instead of an HDMI.* The receptacles for the control sticks are exposed, whereas, on the Smart Controller, they were ... MoreBeing a DJI Smart Controller user for many years, it is impossible to review the RC Pro without comparing it with its predecessor. I wish I had just bought my Mavic 3 with this upgrade. The stock controller is much worse than the Mavic 2 Pro controller. The good: no cables to mess with to start a flight. The built-in display is as bright as any I've seen. Much higher-quality control gimbals/switches/buttons. Easy to use gimbals without the screw-in sticks. Lots of extra function-assignable buttons. Comfortable to hold. Extra dial on front-right for lens zoom works with Mavic 3 exolore mode. Quick power-up and connect to drone. Allows for installation of 3rd-party apps. Screw holes easily accept 3rd party neck strap. The bad: Not inexpensive. I wish the display was just a little bigger; it's still too small for control with thumbs: you have to take your hands off the grip to control with fingertips. No way to use with a tablet for larger display. No system for shading display when using in extremely bright sun. The multi-select button (thumb joystick) is not programmable for both f-stop AND shutterspeed like the Mavic 2 Pro does. Dials still not direction-programmable. Still has ridiculously difficult DJI-approval system requirement when in some controlled airspace in addition to LAANC approval; even with Part 107 license, this charade requires a separate laptop to apply for unlocking code because the form is not mobile-friendly.
I got this mainly because using my iPhone with the standard controller on hot days was a problem. The display would dim. Even on a 76º F day. This controller solved the problem even on the hottest days. It has better range and functionality than the stock controller and you don’t have to mess around connecting your phone to the controller. It does use the android operating system and if you are used to Apple devices that will take some getting used to but it works fine. The only con I can give this is the price but you get what you pay for. No regrets, I am glad I got it.
It's how the mavic 3 drone should be shipped with this controller at this price point. The features are needed. But why in all these years of buying dji drones, never losing any of the removal sticks mind you, do they only give a single pair with the rc pro? (Maybe same with smart controller?) nd these are so specific to this controller.Battery life is great. I go down around 10-15 % in the controller battery for a 25 minute single battery flight. So figure 4-6 batteries or so. For me that is fine.Zooming is how it should be with the control wheel while having ability to pitch your gimbal up down and while controlling your sticks left to right it just works like the Mavic 2 and mavic pro controllers. Also it's just more compact and nimble to set up take down (well until you have to wait for GPS signal aquisition...mavic 3 why so many issues why I want to love you but why do you break my heart constantly 💔All in all if you haven't purchased a mavic 3 yet hold off wait for a bundle to come down. If you got the mavic air 2s I think it is a good upgrade for you as well mavi. Anyone upgrading from mavic 2 I suggest you only consider buying the mavic 3 with the rc pro. You will only be disappointed if you didn't.
I originally intended to save the money and use my iPhone 14Pro attached to the standard controller. I quickly realized that between texts, notifications, Ring Camera alerts, and other on screen distractions that I should bite the bullet and purchase a completely separate dedicated controller. It was the right decision. I would encourage anyone who is going to spend considerable time flying but is considering using an active phone (it is also my business phone) for the screen display, to carefully consider the options. Because it was a business purchase it made a lot of sense for me to separate the phone from the controller.
