Awesome soap -- universal peppermint essence.

It lights you up with a semi-tingly, very chilling feeling. I've grown to like it myself, if not love it, but to others wishing to do the same be warned; it doesn't play around. Recently, my scalp was getting itchy, so I looked into what else I can use. From what I read, most people warn against using oil soaps saying they are drying and all this crazy nonsense. The best thing I can do is find out for myself, and I am glad that I did. My hair is natural and tight curly. This castile soap not only got rid of the itch, but my hair is surprisingly SOFT and easy to run my fingers through. I usually use castor oil or sweet almond oil to style my hair with, and I shower with cold water, so these may be the contributing factors to my hair not feeling stiff or dry as I see other people complain about. My hair is past nipple length, but shrinks to my shoulders to get an idea of how long my hair is. I do not use it daily, but three or four times a week now. I sweat A LOT when I work out, and even though water only washing, apple cider vinegar washing, and the occasional baking soda, I prefer this. Also, I wanted to see how it works on the rest of my body, and one very interesting thing that happened is i have had tiny bumps on my nose since I am a teen (I am 48 now), and this castile soap made my nose smooth, and my face soft. In fact, my whole body feels new, soft, and fresh. I use clove, nutmeg, and orange essential oils mixed into this, as well. I also add Diatomaceous Earth, as this has made some wonderful results in my personal care. This castile soap is also awesome for brushing my teeth. It is way better than baking soda. My mouth feels fresh and clean, and my teeth nice and shiny. I highly recommend this Castile Soap, but of course everyone is different. I am very pleased with this purchase, and I will buy again (after I experiment with other oil soaps not that I am new to the oil soap world!)

Great all-around personal cleaner
28 September 2022

I swithced to Dr. Bronner's soaps more than 5 years ago and use them for all my personal cleaning needs. My dermatologist had recommended Cetaphil, because my skin is sensitive. But when I read all the chemical ingredients in their products, I mixed the contents of the bottle with vinegar, salt and citrus juice to make weed killer! Worked well, and I'm glad I was able to find a good use for it. Would never put it on my skin again!Dr. Bronner's peppermint is my go-to, but I switch to the others now and then. The combination provides excellent exfoliation. I only wash my hair every 3 days, and no longer use conditioner. My rinse is diluted apple cider vinegar, massaged into the scalp and rinsed with lukewarm water. No other hair products needed. Once a week, I'll whip a raw egg or cut a stalk of aloe vera, scoop out the gel, apply to the hair and let it sit for about 20 minutes before washing with Dr. Bronner's. All-natural, no muss, no fuss, nothing I can't pronounce! And almost no hair on the drain screen. When I used body washes and shampoos, the drain needed weekly cleaning walls needed scrubbing t. Now, I treat it once a month with a cup of baking soda followed by a cup of white vinegar to keep it clear.

Love this !
24 February 2023

Love love this ! I use it as a body wash there’s a minor scent but super faint. I actually combine it with another body wash since this can be drying on the body. I think it’s perfect for people who have sensitive skin and don’t like fragrance. Leaves you squeaky clean without using too much of the product, it does lather too. Other scents I’ve tried.. is the peppermint another one of my favorites but I tend to go with this baby scent. The rose scent was a miss for me, unfortunately. The ingredients in this product is great and clean better rating than most. I buy two 32fl oz bottles especially when it’s on sale.

My hair has never looked better!
6 October 2022

I am one of those people who tried Bronner’s for washing my hair and failed the first time. There were the usual adjustment challenges and I gave up. But after reading Lisa’s blog about her eventual hair success with their products I decided to give it another go. Well, let me say, it was so worth it! Softest, curliest hair with just the right volume. I’ll never go back to those old conventional products. I use the citrus liquid to wash (make the suds in my hands first then scrub my scalp in sections), the herbal citrus hair rinse, and my GIY hair serum once out of the shower. The night before I wash, I spray my hair pretty heavily with distilled water then apply the hair crème for an overnight treatment. NOPE! I'll Pass!

I was excited to try this because of the rave reviews. I specifically got unscented to be able to use it in my cracks & crevices if you know what I mean lol. As soon as I poured it onto my washcloth and started lathering up, my eyes immediately begin to burn. I could barely keep them open! The lather on this soap was very lackluster. I kept pouring and pouring and pouring looking for the rich lather that I’m used to with my other body washes to no avail. It was a struggle just to get the underwhelming amount of lather I finally got. But hold on- it gets worse! As I’m washing “down there” I realize my vajayjay is burning, but it’s too late now. No turning back! This liquid has already infiltrated my nether regions. It was just as bad when I washed “back there”. ... MoreI was excited to try this because of the rave reviews. I really wanted to like this soap but I was a bit disappointed. First let's start with the small pro. If you take morning showers I think this would be perfect , it's mint scent and tingling sensation refreshes you and wakes you. Perfect start for your day, however ..... The cons. After your shower your skin is left feeling well dry. But what I disliked the most was the texture of my hair. Even while I was lathering my hair I could feel the texture change kind of like a straw/hay feeling. I didn't think anything of it at first and thought maybe it'll feel different once it dries out. Boy was I wrong! I couldn't even brush my hair. Literally was struggling to comb my hair. And keep in mind my hair is naturally straight. I added some moose to my hair to see if that would help , NOPE! If anything it made it worse . I couldn't even style my hair like I usually do. It felt so dry and poofy. Just a hot mess in general. I couldn't take the texture of my hair so after the second day of giving the soap another try I went to buy some shampoo. BUT the new shampoo I bought alone wasn't enough. Even after i rinsed my hair I had to apply conditioner to my hair and let it set finally my hair was back to it's soft texture after that. It's almost like this soap ripped my hair if it's nutrients. I'm planning on returning the soap back tomorrow. All in all if you think about it if a soap can be used for cleaning and laundry.....maybe it shouldn't be used on our hair and skin.

Waxy residue

The fragrance in storebought shampoos and soaps makes my eczema worse. I couldn't find any shampoos without fragrance, so I tried using Dr Bronner's Castile soap as shampoo. What a nightmare. My hair was so coated in waxy gunk that it took about 36 hours to sort of dry, though still covered in gunk that hadn't rinsed out. All the oils got trapped in my scalp, and my hair got really disgusting after about four days (normally I wash my hair once a week). So I washed my hair with free and clear dish soap, and a gallon container of white vinegar that I took into the shower. Then my hair was clean. I also tried to use Dr Bronmer's as hand soap, but the pump kept clogging up. Some of the diluted soap went down my garbage disposal, and I was wondering why it left a white residue on the black rubber flaps over the garbage disposal. I suppose it is the glycerine. That diluted soap left a waxy gunk on my hands every time that I washed, so that I began to avoid washing my hands. Finally, I dumped that diluted soap down the drain, and filled my handsoap container with free and clear dishsoap. And today, I used Dr Bronner's liquid Castile sugar soap to wash my underarms, and found myself having to apply hydrocortisone cream because of the irritation. I think it's the glycerine. The cheap lavender non-glycerine bar soap that most stores carry does not irritate my skin. I give Dr Bronner's three stars, for trying to make a difference with beautiful natural products. But I just cannot use glycerin products for any kind of cleaning. I don't understand why my experience is so different from all the other people who wrote reviews here.

This soap is my absolute favorite! I always have super itchy skin most of the time from food allergies or razor bumps and this peppermint soap completely calms my entire body with minty tingles! It’s especially good in the hot months when you need something to cool you down! I wash with it every night and it knocks me out and I finally get the sleep I need, it’s so soothing for soreness too! This soap is also really great if you have a hard time waking up in the morning, it’s really invigorating and refreshing like you just walked out of a waterfall! I also use this soap as a foot soak when my feet really hurt and I swear it takes the swelling down! Now that I’ve tried the peppermint, I really want to try the eucalyptus and the tea tree one! Don’t forget to dilute ... MoreThis soap is my absolute favorite!
