The terms and conditions for leaving a review are extensive and a little insane. I waived my right to future morals for this review. Please know this is not to defame the business in anyway:0 so anyway the soap is very good. Honestly the best hand soap/all purpose cleaner I have used in a long time. Cuts down on using so much elbow grease and I appreciate that very much! So far we have used it as a pest repellent in the garden (not sure on the results yet), dishes, bathroom cleaner, laundry soap (works for all my family members but I have sensitive skin so not for me), surface cleaner, veggie wash, and in the bathroom drain when it was clogged. So far no complaints it works as advertised at this time and honestly made me feel like I was in some sort of a commercial ... I was born with eczema prone skin and currently have dry diabetic skin. I am a long time user, on again off again, of Dr. Bronner’s Castile Liquid Soap. However, my curiosity was piqued for the Sugar Soap after reading so many reviews praising its hydrating quality and versatility from head to toe. I finally purchased a bottle in person and was convinced of its hydrating properties after the first time washing my hands with this soap, it does produce a nice lather. Most of my body handled it well right away, but two areas in particular took longer to adjust, my groin and scalp. My groin felt quite itchy after the first time washing it with the Sugar Soap, and for a while I used Dr. Bronner’s Baby Unscented Castile Bar Soap to wash that area but continued to use the Sugar Soap everywhere else on my body. A couple weeks later I was feeling adventurous and washed my groin again with the Sugar Soap and did not experience any itchiness. To be honest my scalp was in pretty rough shape, the skin was dry, flaky, and would be bleeding in some areas after being thoroughly scrubbed. I was only washing my hair and scalp once a week because I was avoiding the whole washing/drying/styling process, I usually experienced a lot of hair breakage. I suffered very little breakage the first and subsequent uses of the Sugar Soap to wash my hair followed by an ACV rinse. However, I do still experience the same amount of breakage when combing my dry hair. My scalp showed back and forth progress for the first several months but it’s slowly progressing to healthy skin with significantly fewer flakes. This is fantastic because I’ve experienced dandruff for decades. This also coincides with the season changing to Spring so less dry air in general. While my groin and scalp needed time to adjust to the Sugar Soap, my face liked it right away. My facial skin showed improvement within two weeks of washing twice daily with the Sugar Soap. Lucky me, I had small breakouts on my chin from unwanted facial hair growing. Inside of every pimple was a baby facial hair. Needless to say, hair plus acne on my chin was a constant source of embarrassment. However, the breakouts have subsided significantly and overtime I’ve noticed an improvement of the acne scar discoloration. The hair still grows but the skin itself is the smoothest and pimple free it’s been in years. That’s great progress. Occasionally, a tiny amount of soap has slipped into my mouth and it does taste sweet but any more and it has a bitter taste. You’ve been warned, don’t lick the soap. The soap is a caramel brown color. Hands down, Dr. Bronner’s Organic Sugar Soap Baby Unscented is my favorite soap for washing my adult body head to toe and has minimized the amount of products I need. I anticipate healthy skin and fewer skin issues the longer I use it; and less need for specialized products. I have moderately hard water, about 3b curly hair texture, plus the aforementioned dry diabetic skin all contributing factors to my dry skin and hair, and I still experienced significant improvement in skin hydration. Please note it’s still necessary for me to use an ACV rinse and moisturizer for my hair. I highly recommend trying Dr. Bronner’s Organic Sugar Soap Baby Unscented for yourself or other sensitive skin people in your life.

I bought this soap on a recommendation as a natural, sulfate free product. What I didn't know is it contains lye (potassium hydroxide). I used a small amount to cleanse my hair. I read the blog about how to use this product and followed their instructions. When my hair started to dry I saw a lot of fly away hairs. When I touched it, it literally started breaking off in my hands. The fly aways I was seeing was the result of hair breakage. I normally have very healthy hair and this product stripped it of everything. I used it 1 time and my hair is a mess. Way to harsh for hair and skin.

Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Sugar Soap is one of those small life changes I've made that has enriched my daily routine in a way that far exceeds the sum of its parts. It has the same delightfully intense peppermint scent (which I love, but some may not like), organic origins, and excellent lather, but compared to the regular castile soap, it has a really rich viscosity to it that is really delightful for showering & shampooing, and has an emollient sensation that leaves your skin baby smooth and hydrated. My skin glows when I step out of the shower. And as a face wash, it both removes my naturally oily baseline, and yet never dries my skin out either, optimally protecting the moisture level. I truly cherish this Sugar Soap. If you like the Peppermint Castile Soap, you'll love the Sugar Soap. Whenever I have family or friends over, they also rave about the Sugar Soap, as I keep it stocked in all my bathrooms as both the hand soap at the sink as well as the body wash/shampoo in the shower. I complement the Shower Soap with diluted Dr. Bronner's Acidic Hair Rinse, and the results on my hair & scalp are amazing.
I've got eczema (the kind that makes my fingertips split themselves open for no good reason... think: super-deep papercuts that won't heal). I have a really hard time finding a SLS-free (SLS is one of the biggest triggers for my eczema symptoms) hand soap that actually 1)cleans my hands AND 2)rinses off clean without leaving suds coming out of my pores. bonus -this soap can also be utilized as a body/face wash or shampoo (I've tried out all these - it doesn't suck!). while fragrance hasn't been added (another skin trigger for me), the soap itself has a scent to it (which is actually nice) due to its natural ingredients. I'd describe it as kind of a warm caramelized sugar scent that rinses away with the soap. speaking of which, the soap is actually brown (just like ... I love it and the $9.99 piece tag isn't too horrible, because a little goes a long way, and one bottle lasts me at least a month or two (my husband gets to use up all the other hand soaps I've tried that won't rinse off my skin-I've still got quite a few of those for him to use up, since I tried so many others unsuccessfully before I found this one). I've now got a bottle of this stuff at my kitchen sink, and a bottle at each bathroom sink too. it's fantastic to travel with, too (for obvious reasons-one travel bottle instead of 2-3+)... or great for a gym bag for the same reason. since it's natural, be sure to shake it up first before using it if it's been sitting in your travel bag for a while, obviously.
We just learned about Dr Bronners all natural soap products by researching online for organic soap products etc. gave this a try and fell in love. My husband has had scalp issues for years now and he doesn’t any longer. I’m prone to boils and haven’t had any since we started using this product. My hair took about 4 weeks to become manageable after using this natural shampoo and an apple cider water solution for my rinse. My hair is curly thick bouncy and so soft again after this shampoo finally cleaned all the artificial hair products buildup out of my hair and scalp. I no longer have to use the rinse every time I shampoo but once in awhile I do. I only wash my hair once every two days or so now. I’ve long been a fan of the peppermint version. I use this mostly to shave my legs with and they come out super smooth. I’d been using the lavender shave soap, but I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and sometimes squeezing that tube can really hurt. The bottle soap is not as thick as the shave soap, but the results are the same. And, I can easily lock and unlock the spout to keep any water out. The lavender smell turns my shower into a mini-spa. This soap is not harsh and is great for my very sensitive skin. Plus, it leaves my skin well moisturized and I have very few issues with that winter dryness now. It’s the best soap out there!
This is really great soap! I love the color and feel, and it leaves my skin feeling smooth. It doesn't have any added fragrances, which I love, and the natural scent of the ingredients is subtle, earthy, and warm. I did find that it's irritating to my eyes, but not to a degree that I would stop using it. Just make sure to rinse well and it should fine. Also, I originally bought it mostly for my hair, to go along with the citrus rinse. I tried it a couple of times and just wasn't super happy with the results. We have hard water at my house, though, which can be a complicating factor with castille soap and I wouldn't use my experience to deter someone else. I'll definitely purchase this soap again!
I use this soap for my hair, body, face, and hands. Typically, when people see the 4-1 label they become disinterested. DO NOT let that discourage you from buying this. I’m a 20 year old in college who was looking for “healthier” alternatives to the typical name brand items. This soap is made from all natural ingredients so it is safe to put anywhere on your body (even your mouth if you’re brave enough lol). In terms of hair care, this product works pretty solid if the PROPER steps are taken. As this is a soap and not shampoo, it will dry out your hair/scalp. After washing your hair with this, you have to use a citrus rinse. Dr. Bronner sells this otherwise you can use ACV. After washing your hair with this, you have to use a citrus rinse. Dr. Bronner sells this otherwise you can use ACV. This will correct the PH levels and keep your hair soft and smooth (my hair has never been healthier)! As a face/body wash, this is where it thrives. The tea tree is super refreshing and also has a ton of antibacterial properties which reduces acne and other nasty things. It doesn’t dry my skin out at all either which is a bonus. The only downside to it being a natural product is it does not contain a foaming agent. As long as you really rub it together, you can get a solid lather. There are also a few other scents I heard are wonderful in the sugar soap lineup. Check those out if you’re not a tea tree fan. Hope this review helped you as others have helped me :)
I use nothing else on my skin. I'm 72 and have had oily skin most of my life. After I reached 60 it started to get less oily and now is just average, and I'm sure that oily skin has helped immensely in keeping my skin youthful. But I also credit Dr. Bronner. I've been using the Peppermint Castille liquid soap for bathing and specifically for my face for about 50 years, and since the last 20 it has been what I use exclusively to wash my face. I also love that it is so versatile. I was introduced to it by a friend who used it to wash clumps off tar in his dogs' fur after they romped around on the beach a month after an oil spill. The tar came off almost effortlessly.
