This is a very solid trestle. I bought one thinking I would be able to use it with my small workmate to work on a new door but even on the lowest setting it was a bit too high. A little fiddly to assemble but good value for money. It doesn't fold completely flat but it quite compact when folded. If you intend to buy two and will avoid the height mismatch it's probably a good buy.

Good quality and sturdy enough. A bit fiddly to put together, but if you buy two the second one is easy enough. Unfortunately, half of the washers required were missing, which is a bit of a pain. Luckily I had some at home to replace the ones missing, but this shouldn't really be necessary. This happens all too often with these 'do-it-yourself' kits. The manufactures should really try harder to supply all the necessary hardware. Not everybody has spare screws and washers laying around.

Bought recently to accompany my B&D workmate. Unfortunately the height of the trestles is not compatible with the workmate as even at their lowest setting they are higher than the workmate and cannot be adjusted down. will have to think up a solution for this. Quality of manufacture is adequate, however one of the chains securing a height setting pin has already broken, on the first time of using, not sure how it broke, pin just fell to the floor.Would I buy again? Probably not as I'd do a bit more research to find trestles with a more sophisticated height adjustment system and compatible to a workmate.

Instructions need tobe clearly readable..But compleated assembly only by following instruction in reverse order! The borad slip restrictor on the top bar each side needs tobe width of x3 scaffold bords (681mm apart or as well as 456mm for x2 scaffold boards)..X1 standard size scaffold bord is 225mm width.Once assembled, great piece of kit.
I have just bought and assembled this trestle without problem. All the parts were present and having found the correct spanners it pieced together easily. However, the point in a trestle is stability! The extendable top section moves easily in a fore and aft plane though it does come to a stop when up against either frame. It might be possible the prevent this by over tightening the bolts but this would in turn prevent the legs folding - a reasonable feature. It would be suitable if used with the adjustable section permanently leaning one side or the other but not, as shown in the photo, vertically. Not suitable for purpose.
I used the trestles today for the first time. Before I purchased from Tool Station I searched extensively on-line, initially looking at cheaper products but I soon realised they were inferior to the Draper. I had confidence in the Draper name and had not come across other names on the market. When I found the best price available from Tool Station, where I recently had a very positive experience I was really pleased, and the fact that delivery was free made it even better. Just to be clear these come in kit form and you have to assemble them yourself. Whilst another pair of hands would have been helpful I manage the first one took me about 40 mins but the second was quicker once I knew what I was doing. Whilst another pair of hands would have been helpful I manage the first one took me about 40 mins but the second was quicker once I knew what I was doing. Instructions were OK but it would be even better if some of the diagrams/pictures were bigger so it is easier to distinguish the different parts particularly when it comes to all the various nuts and bolts. Trestles are robust and very sturdy and even at their lowest highest were adequate for trimming a 7ft high hedge.
In the middle of decorating I decided that the best way to paint my internal doors was to remove and lay them flat so that I could clean the fittings (hinges etc.) and rub the doors down properly before painting. Very pleased with the quality of these trestles. They are robust and height adjustable which saves stooping when working on flat surfaces. Good value for money and should last for many years.
I bought 2 which were delivered today and I've built them both. 1st one was a bit of a faf but knew what I was doing with the second which I put together in a fraction of the time. They are rock solid. They adjust easily and are a great addition to my tools. As a 6' 8" man I struggle with average hight of work benches, takes its toll on the back, so being able to raise what I'm working on to chest hight is a absolute bonus. No they don't completely fold away flat, but that is a petty niggle compared to all the positives.
Not wanting anything plastic, these have proven to be exactly what I was after in terms of a nice, sturdy metal design for sensible money. I would thorough recommend them. Just be aware they need constructing, which will probably take the best part of half an hour. Not a complaint - they'd be a whole load more expense if they were pre-constructed.My only issue is the safety latches, these are very frustrating as the tolerance on them is too tight, they are very difficult to disengage when you come to pack the things away. These are the small blue locking bars on the side, towards the top. There is not enough room to really get your fingers in and pull them up, and they are always latched too tight so it's quite uncomfortable to disengage them - I tend to end up ... MoreNot wanting anything plastic, these have proven to be exactly what I was after in terms of a nice, sturdy metal design for sensible money. Annoying :( hence the loss of one star!
I consider myself towards the expert end of the scale when it comes to assembly of kit-form products. The instructions on this treadle are terrible and it’s really fiddly to build and the bolt/washer/spring washers are all different sizes and mixed up in the same bag. Even though I now know what goes where, it would still rake 15-20 minutes so don’t buy if you are in a rush the start a job! On a more positive note, it looks pretty sturdy and it should hopefully last some time :-)
