Service was prompt and friendly. The book is quite luxurious with a quality that will last, and full colour illustration throughout. Even without playing, it serves as a good encyclopedia on all things Dune, in all eras.As a science fiction game it can be quite involved. The rules, on the surface, look simple enough but there are three different meta-mechanics that need to be tracked and, for the GM especially, this can take some learning to get right. I have played it however, and there is a good amount of support for the game from Modiphius. It marks as a different type of science fiction campaigning to most space opera games, because of the rules as well as the unique setting.

I wish more players understood that the smaller and infinitely more common Jaws of the Lion standalone expansion/spinoff/demo (which I do moderately enjoy for what it actually is) is NOT an accurate preview of the full game here. (Also, a lot of people give up on it before even completing the tutorial missions. The gameplay gets a lot more interesting, I promise.) While the basic quasi-deckbuilding and combat mechanics are still comparable, the remaining experience of JOTL is so watered down that it loses virtually all of the worldbuilding, roleplay, character variety, nuanced party mechanics, and pretty much any other flavor and context that make Gloomhaven itself a significantly more satisfying experience. It's an adequate introduction to the functional combat ... MoreI wish more players understood that the smaller and infinitely more common Jaws of the Lion standalone expansion/spinoff/demo (which I do moderately enjoy for what it actually is) is NOT an accurate preview of the full game here. It's an adequate introduction to the functional combat system and a source for add-on content, but that's about it. The real game is a different animal. The characters are more numerous, compelling, dynamic, and fun, and most are unlocked in loose waves to replace retired party members as you progress through the campaign. Yes, retired, because each character actually receives a basic personal narrative and goal to fulfill, and is therefore actually meaningful to play, at least if your imagination meets it halfway. The quests you choose and the decisions you make actually affect the party's reputation with the local populace, altering aspects of the campaign, and moreover have a trackable impact on the prosperity of the city. There are also more items, more events, and, well, more in general. It's just so much more fleshed out than people have come to assume after meeting its spartan sibling.

It's fun packed in a box. It's like D&D turned into in a board game, with cards instead of dice and DM. Takes time to unbox and set up (huge amount of token and cards), but this is fun too. Quality of parts is top notch. Gameplay is amazingly designed. You can choose how much you role play, but you can definitively role play if you want. Feels like a campaign setting for D&D.

The product arrived quickly and contained all the background information needed to introduce you to the world of dune as well as clear instructions on how to build your house and characters to allow you to play out any scene that the gamemaster comes up with
Still haven't played the game but played jaws of the lion and it was awesome. When I got mine, the box was bit teared up (fixed it with tape), definitely was the fault of the post. To conclude, if you have time and friends to play with I definitely recommend.
To be clear, I have not had a chance to play. I'm a huge fan of the Dune universe and while I really want to play the RPG, I mostly bought the book so I can read it. I have not been disappointed. The book is filled with so much lore about the universe I'm thoroughly enjoying reading the book. I think I've only ever read one RPG book cover to cover (Star Wars Saga Edition) and I'm fairly certain this will be the second. It also has beautiful artwork to match the wonderful prose.
I purchased this book not for the game but to fill in some of the gaps in my knowledge of the history of the Dune Universe outside the book prequels and in areas that the novels don’t discuss. It was excellent for this tracing the origins of the universe back to it’s human ancestral home of Earth and elaborating on the history and functions of the main players in the universe and the politics and legal structure of it with some nice diagrams. However, a lot of the reference material is repeated.
This light scent brings back memories of years ago but cannot recall what --just warm and joyful! A great value; was a bit concerned when I removed the bottle from the box as it was a dk yellow color and typically this product is clear. Am not sure if it was aged or what but does not appear to have affected the scent!
Great game system. Great story line and historical references for the Dune histories. very nicely made and good illustrations.
great background source material.the artwork is good.the 2d20 system suffers from a meta-game currency that can feel limiting.
