I painted my fairings with this. You need to apply the ground coat (silver) over black primer, otherwise it won’t look the same. I applied the silver and purple over clear primer on red plastic and it came out pink. Make sure to heat the van up a little before spraying (in warm water) and shake often. Applies easy but tends to run if you apply a heavy, wet coat. Otherwise a great product.

Prep work is key. If you follow the instructions properly, you get a beautiful finish and really helps make it more unique. Partner has wanted to do something about the engine bay, as it was looking kinda boring, and with blue being her favorite colour, decided we would try this for the intake manifold. It turned out way better than we expected

I was in a rush and I was on a lunch break so I ran into AutoZone and I needed some paint so I just snatched it off the shelf and I took it home. I didn’t even get to use it. It was in my backseat , it’s been about 40° around there 60° nothing to make a paint can burst but the top of the can that sprays out was rusted and it sprayed all over my car. I didn’t notice until two days later when I started smelling paint odor in the cabin. SO WATCH OUT , or you too might have blue spotty leather. How trendy

At first I thought the system looked great but it's been nothing but a nightmare. I bought over a hundred bucks of this stuff and now I have to spend more on paint stripper. My can of Blue suffered a catastrophic failure overnight and spewed paint all over my bench doing a couple hundred bucks worth of damage. Came down the next day to pop the top and blue paint dribbles all over my clothes and shoes. look down at my bench and see that it ran from under the cap all over my A1 red oak ply assembly table, a 10 foot board i had just bought to make shelving, a pile of pure white melamine I had JUST BOUGHT for my cabinet saw table extension & fence, and the floor of the garage in a home I am RENTING. On top of that, it doesn't even work well! It flows out of the can ... MoreAt first I thought the system looked great but it's been nothing but a nightmare. On top of that, it doesn't even work well! It flows out of the can unevenly leading to heavy & light spots giving you uneven color and RUNS. I had several bad effects as well like orange peel/cracking of the basecoat which turned my top coat an ugly brown. Another top coat got super dull and foggy ruining the project. I had to strip & start over-better buy more! This was my first time using a duplicolor products and i never will again. Very very unhappy. The whole thing was a nightmare.Only redeeming feature, sprayed the rattle can into my hvlp and applied that way with satisfactory results. But far too little too late.I want my money back for the 11 cans i bought only for the privilege of stripping it later on. Posting this review everywhere this paint is sold.
Bought this in November because was in stock and otherwise getting harder to find. Was going to use this for a guitar and now that the weather is warming up (May) I went to use it and just made a mess everywhere, Spray mechanism was messed up and can kinda useless now. Unfortunately, because now a few months old I can't return it or the can of base coat I bought for it.
Tried it for the first time, used a base coat of silver to get a even coat. Paint works like candy apple, a light coat is bright or add more for a deep luster. I never tried it before as i did not think it could work. IT DOES. Looke like blue crome. I am more than impressed and really recomend it.
Read all the instructions before using this otherwise you will be disappointed. I have been using this product for several months along with the metalcast undercoat. Key thing is to make sure wherever you are spraying this that it is warm enough out. If its too cold you'll get an uneven spray and the metallic portion of the paint will come out like a fine powder and ruin your project. Works like a tint so the more coats the darker the finish. Do many light coats to get a perfect coat.
This paint is amazing in color & finish. Make sure to use the Metalcast base coat/sealer primer on all engine make over parts. To insure a long lasting look. I'm doing a make over on my 2010 Scion xB. The header heat shield turned out amazing. So much so, I decided to do some other parts. The grills both upper & lower turned out killer. I'm in the process of sanding down the hood as this review is being written. I would highly recommend this product to anyone that's considering a project like this. You won't be kicking yourself with the end results.
What kills me is that people think they know what they are doing just because it's a spray paint. One guy said he sprayed it over black. Well it says it needs to be shiny metal or use the base coat metal first. I've used the blue and the red on some old school bike parts and they look better than expected. Light coats is the key. Can not stress that enough. It will run if you try to lay it on any heavier. It takes many coats to get a deep color since this is a tint that works like a candy paint. It has to have a metallic base coat than the tint gets darker as you continue to apply more coats. I did around 6-8 light coats for the red which needed more coats where the blue seemed to darken with less coats I think it was 5-6 coats for the blue. By the time you finish your tint( the 1 hour window) you will need a week to let it cure before you clear coat so it doesn't look wrinkled or lift on you. So light coats and patience is the key to a anodized look you will love.
This is the bestAside from being a gorgeous color,The product goes on evenly and lays down flat. If you apply to prepped surface.I have used this paint for 8 yearsI am a professional artist/painter and absolutely love this product. The sprayer nozzle lets the perfect amount of product when first spraying a new can to very last amount of paint leaving the can. This is not the case with any other enamel, lacquer or varathane product I have used and I have used them all.
