The Duracel Lithium Coin 2032 - 2 Pack with new Child Secure packaging is the same great Duracel batteries you've trusted for years but the packaging is definitely new! My boyfriend and I spent 10 minutes trying to get into the package to remove a battery but to no avail! Of course, if I'd looked a bit closer at the front of the package, I would've seen the pair of scissors icon, followed by dashes encircling the lower battery. It was then clear to me that I would need to take scissors and cut all around the battery. Sure enough! Came right out (well, I could at least wiggle it free). I received this product in exchange for my honest opinion. The Duracell 2032 3V Lithium Battery packaging was impossible to open. I finally had to get the scissors. Then I realized that this was part of the safety feature preventing little ones from getting them. Though I wasn't trying to keep the second battery in the protective packaging it stayed that way so I will be worry free when I store it in a safe location. Even if a child finds it, they still won't be able to get to the battery without scissors. I licked the battery on the + side and didn't taste anything at all and was disappointed. Then I licked the - side and the bitterness was still in my mouth 15 minutes later. AirTag battery!

I bought this battery to power my Apple AirTag’s. It worked well for that. But it also powers my old PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). Yes I still use the old PDA as it’s what I’m used to, younger people may not even know what it is, picture a smart phone without the phone. PDA in this case does not stand for a public display of affection, as those require no batteries. They are usually powered by raging hormones, and sometimes alcohol. But not by the 2032 battery.

Frustrating Nearly Impossible To Remove From Super Sealed Packaging 😠

The batteries look pristine. Work as intended. But the packaging overkill may lead me to find any other battery brand that packages batteries so I don't have to use three separate tools to open the sealed shut plastic. Maybe if I hand it to a child they can open it? 😅 (Supervised! Because Lithium batteries are dangerous to any animals that may stupidly swallow them, as in emergency dangerous!!!). Okay I'm all for safety but please make future packaging moderately simple to open! If I was on a deserted island 🏝 I would never get the battery out if the packaging to run my S.O.S. device that needs this one little battery! 😬

I manhandled these things as a grown man and could not get any further than blisters ripped off and the plastic deformed. You can see this in the pics. No way a kid rips these open. But using full size scissors and cutting around the blister as shown, these easily opened.As for the bitterant, don’t try this at home but I took one for the team and tasted the battery. Interestingly I noticed nothing on the positive side, but the negative side may have been one of the worst things I have ever tasted. It was so bad I gagged the battery out. Kids do amazing things, so I can’t say none will swallow this. But most won’t and the rare one who does you’ll know it off the bat by their face and can get medical attention immediately.Overall, these are about all you can ask for child safety from button batteries, but with Duracell performance. If the option remains in the future, I probably would not buy these if there is no risk of little kids. But any time little kids may be around, I’d pick these in a heartbeat for safety.

I'm not happy with Duracell in general.

This review is based upon my previous purchase of this product, in which the battery life didn't last long at all. I was very disappointed. These batteries are not cheap, but they should at least last a decent amount of time. I used the battery in things were not used a lot, so they should have lasted longer.I've also used Costco's voluminous Duracell battery packs, and they haven't had long lives either. Luckily Costco will take returns if half are not used. My faith in Duracell continues to decline and I'll probably never but them again. This is a big surprise to me as it is a Warren Buffet owned company.

New "child-safe" version

Of five sites, only Walmart and one other would ship small batteries. Apparently the child-safety rules have been stepped up and these batteries are coated to _discourage_ swallowing. Three sites had plain 2032s for in-store purchase or pickup only. Only Walmart had the new bitter-taste coated variety in stock to ship, several days, from a distant supplier. I _presume_ that the coated ones (not yet used) will work. (One vendor promptly shipped a bulk pack of old-style un-coated 2032s -- 6 for the price of 1. I will give away the excess.)

What can I say beyond these coin batteries continue the quality provided by the Duracell name.With the proliferation of coin cell batteries into so many of our small devices like ceiling fan remotes, car alarm remotes, illuminated red dot sights and much more, it is great to have another big name in the battery industry to choose from. In the past when I purchased coin cells from the "Bunny brand" the batteries were stale, not fully charged and didn't last long. These Duracell batteries are fresh and showing a full 3.3v when new. And they last a good long time. In my second amendment tools the sights are still bright after weekly use this past month. First is the batteries are coated in a non-toxic bitter tasting coating. And second is the child proof packaging. Let me tell you, do not test the bitter coating, it is Nasty!!!!!! I can't even think of analogy of what it is like because it is so bad. Black licorice would be enjoyable compared to the bitter coating. And I hate black licorice!I was going to knock Duracell on the child proof packaging as I was easily able to rip the cardboard backing the battery bubbles are mounted on. But once the plastic bubbles are removed you absolutely need scissors or other sharp utensil to get to the coin batteries. Each battery is in its own little plastic bubble, so no worries about a loose coin if you just need one. They are very secure!If you need quality coin batteries, buy Duracell brand with confidence. You will get long lasting batteries that are safe for your family.
