I recently tried the Duracell AA Optimum batteries, and I have to say, they live up to the hype. From the moment I started using them, I noticed a significant improvement in the performance of my high-drain devices. For example, my kids' toys and our TV remotes now last much longer between battery changes. What I really appreciate is the practical packaging. The resealable tray makes it easy to store and access the batteries without dealing with clunky packaging. This small detail has made a big difference in keeping my battery drawer organized.

Duracell are the best batteries that you can buy. I use them for everything from my smoke detector to my electric toothbrush. They are very long lasting. I recycle mine it's better for the environment. The packaging is just normal nothing fancy and they can be very expensive but they work great and last a long time so worth the money. You pay for what you get 😁 I definitely recommend. 👍👍👍

I was able to test these for just over 2 weeks. The results were the same. The remote controlled car went faster and had more power and despite regular use daily we have yet to change the battery which is unheard of when the boys play with their remotes. The lights on the garland were brighter and being on a timer as well as the fact we spent the majority of the time at home and dismal days meant that the lights were on for the majority of the day and night. Again, they have shown no sign of dimming or needing replacing which is unheard of at Christmas time as previously with other batteries I have had to replace despite being brand new when putting out the decorations. Batteries are difficult to test for a consumer. I have seen in the past (in my own, informal, unscientific testing) that some ""Pro""-labeled ones actually under-performed their ""regular"" counterparts. So, allow me to share with you a battery test I made between the Duracell CopperTop, Quantum, and Optimum batteries, then compare them to the Energizer Max and Ultimate Lithium. Finally, I will compare them to the rechargeable, Panasonic Eneloop Pro. This was likely my most expensive battery test I have ever undertaken, and because they are one-time-use batteries, not the most eco-friendly. I apologize for the latter! Each time it would pass a specific point on the track, a sensor was hit to track what time it completed a loop. In the end, I had an Excel spreadsheet that showed the number of loops that were made. From there, I calculated the start time and the last time it hit the sensor. Keep in mind, however, that many factors could affect a battery's performance. Some are made better for one type of use, but would fare worse for another. Surprisingly, the Duracell CopperTop slightly outperformed the Quantum, whereas the Optimum ran longest between the three. MARKETING Duracell markets the CopperTop being less premium than the Quantum, and that in turn less than the Optimum. Visually, that can be represented as: CopperTop < Quantum < Optimum ACTUAL RESULT (with the RC train) Quantum < CopperTop < Optimum This showed that paying the extra pennies for the Quantum over the CopperTop was not worth it. The Optimum, with just a slight advantage in battery life over the CopperTop did not fare much better either. So, from a Duracell perspective, I would continue to stick with the CopperTops for best value and decent battery life. Next, I threw in some Energizers. The Max and one of my favorites, the Ultimate Lithium. - Max outperformed all 3: CopperTop, Quantum, and Optimum by about 60%. - Ultimate Lithium (which is not Alkaline, by the way), nearly DOUBLED the battery life over the CopperTop! This was not surprising to me as this line is a BEAST (with the gigantic price tag that comes with it.) Visually, the RC train result was: Quantum < CopperTop < Optimum < Max (+60%) < Ultimate Lithium (+110%) Finally, I wanted to see how the RC car would work with my favorite, rechargable batteries that I depend on for my professional photography work: Panasonic's Eneloop Pro. The Eneloop are designed to hold 70% of their charge for up to 10 years, and for wedding photography, that is an important factor as I cannot afford taking out batteries that may not be able to provide the power I need at a moment's notice. The result? They did average. Visually: Quantum < CopperTop < Optimum < Eneloop Pro < Max < Ultimate Lithium Price wise, the Eneloop Pro and Ultimate Lithium afford a VERY high premium. They are EXPENSIVE. If you asked me which batteries I recommend over the other, the answer is: it depends. Some devices work better with Alkaline or Lithium than NiMH rechargables. Alkalines provide a higher, initial voltage for more power, are cheaper, but once they hit a certain discharge threshold, they become useless very quickly with certain types of devices. With the Eneloop Pro, they provide a longer discharge life, can be used for a longer, sustained period, and of course, be recharged hundreds of times. So, what does that mean? I would like to re-iterate that I am not a professional, lab-certified, battery tester. Your own results may vary from my own, informal, unscientific testing using a RC train. For RC cars, the Duracell Alkalines are my recommendation -- specifically, the CopperTop. For photography equipment and flashlights, I go with the Eneloop Pro for the long battery life and their ability to hold their charge for a prolonged time. For critical devices that require the longest battery life, such as fire alarms, I'd go with the Ultimate Lithium. With all that said, among the CopperTop, Quantum, and Optimum line of Duracell batteries, I'd stick with the less expensive CopperTop for its better cost-to-life ratio.

It might sound crazy but battery storage has always been an issue with me...I am someone that likes to keep a well stocked AA & AAA battery supply on hand, but I am always annoyed by the packaging. Once they are opened the remaining batteries fall all over my “junk” drawer, and get mixed up with used ones, I’ve tried plastic containers and same thing happens, I end up with batteries all mixed up. I may be slightly more nit picky than most, but even people who don’t stress about unorganized batteries will be impressed by the handy packaging! It’s resealable! And it stays closed! Then it slides easily back in the box for later! Well we tested it! I was skeptical myself at first, because normal Duracells are what I always buy because they are stronger and outlast other brands and I have never had them leak My daughters each have a remote control car, they are identical except for color. I put new batteries in both cars, but one had normal Duracell Coppertop AAs and the other had the new Duracell Optimum AAs, neither one knew which had the new kind... Almost right away we can tell which car had the Optimums in it Because it took off faster and even seemed to handle better over the obstacles then the car with the regular ones. It’s been just over a week and both sets of batteries are still going strong so I can’t say yet if one lasts longer but it seems really maintain power like when a battery is brand new! So I have to say I am a fan of these and I will be definitely buying them again!

I use them in devices like electronic blood pressure machines, printing calculators, and heavy duty waterproof flashlights. The blood pressure machines pull a lot of power off the batteries because of the way they run and we usually have to replace them very frequently. But not with these batteries. I used to just tear open the package and dump the batteries in the drawer. The new packaging allows the batteries to stay organized, which makes things much more efficient. When I open the drawer, I can grab the package and pull out however many batteries I need, without having to spend 15 minutes digging around to find the number of batteries I need, as well as the correct size.In summary, I’m very pleased with how these batteries performed as well as the new improved packaging. These Duracell optimize batteries will definitely be my new go to!

MANEKI NEKO v DURACELL OPTIMUM

Bear with me on this......I gifted a waving cat ornament to my local Chinese takeaway for Christmas (2023) which required 2 x AA batteries to make it function, so I gave them 2 normal Duracell batteries. On my following visit a week later it was static. So I searched for the new Duracell Optimum to see if the extra cost would extend its performance. I noticed that Rymans had the best price on a pack of 12. I took these the following week and inserted them. Amazingly 3 weeks on now the cat is still happily waving! Finally a decent battery and a good deal from Rymans.

So, I did some research on battery technology and confirmed some (not all of the results) through my own measurements.Duracell claims longer life or faster power and this is achieved through their cathode system. If you want to use the power faster, you get a shorter life (time) from the battery. This makes sense because the capacity of the battery is fixed. If you start grabbing power quickly, it won’t last as long. On the flip side, if you use it slowly, it will last longer.Another component which determines how long batteries will last is the minimum voltage the item will operate under. When a battery dies, it still contains a charge, but that charge is below what the specific item needs to operate. I keep a battery tester and have a rotation for my batteries that start them in high draw items like a camera flash and end them in low draw items like flashlights or remote controls.Duracell was smart to identify items that the high-performance results can demonstrated in. From what I’ve seen, I believe the results for the products they advertised. I also measured the stored charge between the Optimum and other batteries that I had in storage. The Optimum had a greater charge than the regular copper top batteries and the regular batteries from their competitor.Part of the premium cost is the styling of the battery and the resealable packaging. I am less interested in these features but they want a way to distinguish their product from everything else.

And because this is my primary usage, they are certainly worth it to me.My son also prefers them in his video game controllers, and he is convinced they last much longer (he calls them the “good batteries.”Bottom line is that Duracell has built up trust in me, and very few companies do I give this measure of benefit of the doubt. So I recommend, and, too, so does my son.

This year, with our small children at home during the pandemic the snowman was on extra duty. We had broken it out a little early in the season and had already been through 2 sets of generic grocery store batteries by the time Duracell Optimum arrived.We installed these batteries and the gaudy LED lit, sparkle whirling snow globe ran long days for half the month of December. The cellophane you have to pull back took me a couple tries, but the function was worth the 10-second unboxing hiccup.
