A very good game, but too many glitches.

A very good and lengthy game, but it doesn't approach the 500 hours of content claimed by the developers unless you play through multiple times. I put in 100 to 150 hours and completed most of the side quests with the exception of the parkour challenges which I didn't really care for. I'm a completionist, but finding all the collectibles would be a tedious chore. Several collectibles are missable as certain areas are closed off as the story progresses. Several side quests including one pretty big one can't be completed unless you speak to specific characters before completing certain main quests. Some quest characters disappear (even if their location shows on the map). The final boss fight was underwhelming. There's one recurring glitch where Howlers appear, but you cannot interact with them. The game lacks a stats page. Achievements for distance traveled and money accumulated are not trackable making them not worth pursuing.

Boring, forgettable, and just outright bad.

I loved the first game, it was a fun take on the end of the world zombie apocalypse. This game however, took all the good parts from the first one and warped them into something different. They made all the characters uninteresting, boring, and forgettable. There isn’t a story much like the first, but atleast it was fun to play. The parkour is tedious and boring, and extremely frustrating. The firsts games parkour was fun, fast and made the game exciting. This time however it’s slow and boring. The fighting is boring, the weapons are boring, everything is just boring. It’s a chore to even play it. If I had bought this at full price, I would’ve been really mad. It’s almost like it was made for the ps3. I do not recommend this game, even if it’s on sale it’s still ... MoreI loved the first game, it was a fun take on the end of the world zombie apocalypse. But, after talking several hours to get through the tutorial, and the fact the busted coop has prevented me playing more, I thought it would be important to review.Game is probably actually great if it works, but it’s currently busted and the last patch that “fixed” the issue did not in fact “fix” the coop. My issue in particular - I either freeze up upon loading OR I get booted via disconnect from my friends game. Repeatedly. I’m playing in Halo Series X Xbox, and every other game has no issue with online play so it’s definitely this game. I have a full squad of friends I want to play with, and I can’t. Fun, funny and glitchy.

Well, this game is fun. Great, in fact. I had fun from beginning to end. The atmosphere is great. The subtle music is nice. The moves are fun.And then there is the glitches. Oh boy, is there glitches. I played the entire campaign co-op with my friend. At random times his body would disappear, and he would just be a floating jacket. Or the only thing I could see of him would be his belt, spinning around rapidly like the tasmanian devil. Other times, he would hear my character grunt and groan as if he was constantly getting hit, but I was just standing there. At one point, it randomly teleported us to the second city for no reason at all, and gave us a couple maxed out weapons and grenades, which made the monsters trivial, but we were trapped in the second city with ... MoreWell, this game is fun. Oh, and my paraglider was glitched, so I could never upgrade it.All in all, was a fun experience, but felt completely rushed. Felt like Cyberpunk all over again. Definitely needed more time in the development oven.

MUCH better than the 1st, but...…
10 February 2022

I am only a few hours into this, and I can say I am liking this MUCH better than the 1st. Difficulty is more balanced in the beginning of the game. Leveling up skills makes a big difference getting Aiden through the world & fighting, & making the parkour much smoother/tighter. The story is more simplistic & focused, which I also like.I'm sure it'll get even better once I level Aiden up more, & get the grappling hook & paraglider.But.....I HATE the auto-save feature in this game. It might make me rage quit and never go back.If I put this game aside and not finish it, it'll be because of the horrible auto-saving in this game. For one, the auto-save icon is so small I can't even tell when it's saving, so I never know how much time I'll have to re-play the game ... MoreI am only a few hours into this, and I can say I am liking this MUCH better than the 1st. I lost over half an hour of progress due to this, and if that happens too many times, I'll be putting this game aside and playing one of the many other great games coming out this month. With the current technology in today's day & age, manually saving (even saving while shutting down) should be a mandatory thing in most large open world games. At least let me make the Save Icon larger, so I can SEE it.Oh, and that leads to my other complaint. This almost seems like a port from a PC game, because the text is "too small to read," even though I have it set to large. The subtitles are okay, but when it explains attacks and such, some of the hints & tips are just TOO SMALL, and I cannot see how to do things, like how to execute certain lunge attacks and whatnot. So, I love most of this game (so far), but 2 of my complaints have to do with the save icon and text being way TOO SMALL, & it doesn't auto-save enough (& I can't see when it does).Maybe when I can fast travel it won't be a problem anymore, because then I can just fast travel to a safe house and sleep, in which sleeping forces the game to save.Hopefully that's soon, because I want to like this game.

Not as good as the first but still playable

I was hesitant on getting this game, I'm glad i waited though. Its fun but unfortunately it suffers from clearly being overpolished. It looks amazing and the night runs are actually heart rushing at times and overall it is a nice game; Unfortunately combat is worse than the 1st game and the stamina and infected system is an absolutly terrible addiction to this game. Im replaying dying light on the switch and its still amazing, first played on xbox and i even have it on pc but unfortunately this one isnt one that'll get many replays. Maybe my opinion will change when i max out the stats but its just hard to find motivation to play. Also when the zombies begin the grabbing animation, its impossible to avoid allot of the time so unfortunately there is allot of x button ... MoreI was hesitant on getting this game, I'm glad i waited though. Parkour, hack n slash, hours of fun!

I really wanted a 4.5 review. Part 1 was just so good and it’s not easy to match it. 7 years they had to really give us a bang for our buck. While I love many aspects of the game, I find myself wishing certain things were like part 1 and it starts to feel lacking, or a chore when it should feel fun! The parkour is super fun, however because traversing is more important then health you tend to level up stamina. Which if gud enough you will be ok. The more you play the easier the game gets. However it’s missing something that makes me want to keep playing. I find myself taking long breaks and if I am really into the game I don’t do this! Nothing scares you or gets your. It puckered up anymore. The night zombies though are overpowered and even when leveled up they can kill you quick! It’s supposed to feel rewarding leveling up and getting stronger. It feels like leveling up just gives you permission to finally enter areas you couldn’t without getting killed by enemies way tougher then you. So I ended up skipping an entire area which ai never do. People now think grinding and roaming are the game, I still say for me, not really. I always say ai just wanna play the game! Then people say grinding and looting is the game. Anyways if you loved dying light buy this game!

Single player works well. Co op is a bust
22 February 2022

Sadly this could have been a great game but unfortunately thanks to the bugs and glitches its just ok. My wife and I were super excited to play this together because we loved the first one and in the beginning it was fun. We had an occasional odd bug or two but got to play it the whole weekend when it came out. However the developers released a patch that made the game worse and completely unplayable in co op. It would completely brick my controller and mess with my Xbox and not shut it down properly. I have never had anything like that happen before and it sucked. Playing in single player was actually an almost flawless experience and my wife and I decided to just finish the game solo.As of now they have stated that a patch will release hopefully sometime this ... MoreSadly this could have been a great game but unfortunately thanks to the bugs and glitches its just ok. Solid Game for the Money
30 December 2022

Great sequel to the original release. To be honest, I actually like the storyline a bit more too. Graphics are not on par with some other games out right now, but this a super fun game to play.I usually don't spring for the Deluxe Editions of games, but I picked this up well after launch and during Black Friday. So I decided to spend the few extra dollars, not sure it worth the extra money though.Dying Light 2 has a huge open world, deep story lines and tons of side quests. If walking the zombie filled streets in a post-apocalyptic world is your thing, then this is your game.

I played the first Dying Light. Granted, that was almost a decade ago. It was a great game! When played at night, in the dark, with a quality headset, it really put you in that "mindset". It made the game much scarier. This time around, the story is still great, gameplay is better, graphics are far superior, and the crafting mechanism is much easier to understand and use. I LOVE THIS GAME. It is by far one of my favorite games of ALL TIME. It does a great job of keeping you entertained, and really makes YOU decide how and who you want to help. It forces you to pick sides and alters the storyline based solely on your decision making. It is a little slow at the start.
