Love this shoe and it's still in my rotation after 2 years of abuse. Find the grip to be right up there with the best (even on slick NE rock and roots) and the cushion is plush yet still feels stiff and responsive on techy stuff.I will say, the toe crease took quite some time to break in and was a bit uncomfy when I first got the shoes - but after some time it broke in with no real issue from then onwards. Most impressed with the durability of these shoes - they've stood up to abuse and have hardly worn down at all despite a lot of time on rocky terrain.

Writing this a couple of years after I got them. I am not much of a runner, but like to think I am a fast hiker. My feet are old and susceptible to bruising so have always been looking for the best cushioned trail runner for hiking. Regular hiking style shoes aren't cushioned enough and slow. The Ultra 100 is the best I have ever used or tried on. As the others have written, the cushioning is rather magical. You seem to sink into it more then other shoes, even those with a 40mm stack height. And get a good spring out of them and never feel tall and tippy. The tiny lugged Pomoca thread is great on firm packed trails and the rockiest Wasatch trails. I use other shoes for lots of scrambling, but just used on a steep Granite talus slope going to vertical and I felt ... MoreWriting this a couple of years after I got them. If you have a wider fit, the current Ultra 100 is a completely different fit and is much wider.

I needed some new trail runners and I had an 24 hour uphill race coming up so I bought these with that race in mind. I wanted something that had a little extra cushion but still light and nimble for my other runs. These seemed like they might fit the bill. I wasn't disappointed. i wore them for a mountain run and they worked fine so I laced them up for the second time at the 24 hour race. I wore them straight for 24 hours and ran/walked 30k of up. My feet were far happier at the finish than I would have ever expected. The trails were technical (East Coast Technical!!) with plenty of rock and roots. The protected the bottoms of my feet and provided plenty of grip and support. I would definitely recommend them.

I'm on my third pair of these shoes and absolutely love them. I live near Aspen, Colorado, and run a variety of trails ranging from fast packed dirt to extremely technical scree. These shoes can handle it all. I've run three ultra's in them on some pretty challenging routes, and I was very please with how they performed.Every so often when I'm out on long bushwhacking adventures, I do find the shoes collect debris, requiring me to take the shoes off and knock stuff out of them, but the quick breaks are never a big issue on 30+ mile days. It's unfortunate that Dynafit didn't nail the sizing on these as I think it turns people off from trying them. I wear a size 9 in almost all other brands, but needed a size 10 in these. I'd recommend folks size up a full size and ... MoreI'm on my third pair of these shoes and absolutely love them. Made well and quality materials. The sole is a nice gripppy rubber. I’ve used Hokas for awhile but the last pair seems like they have went to a cheaper, less grippy rubber so decided to try these. The foam isn’t as squishy but feels supportive and absorbs shock well running downhill. The lace system is secure and feet didn’t slip around. Felt great on the first run/hike with no blisters or soreness.
Pros:1) Great cushioning. These are very protective shoes, your feet don’t get tired at all in long runs.2) Super responsive. It’s very rare for an ultra shoe to feel fast at the same time, but Dynafit has done it. They have managed to make a protective yet NOT squishy shoe (these are actually quite firm), which has great energy return for the amount of cushioning underneath. Great job on that!3) Quite good ground feel for such a max shoe (due to the fact that the midsole is quite firm)4) Excellent build quality and durability, as usual. These will last a long time. Great protection around the foot. I have done 350km and only now does the midsole seem to have been a little compressed, but I think I can get 100-150km more out of it.5) Amazing design, super ... MorePros:1) Great cushioning. I’m thinking of getting another pair just to wear as a casual shoe, there are gorgeous.6) Roomy toe box, good solid platform. Good for wider feet.Cons:The shoes so feel a little too high to trust in trails. I use them for long runs in dirt roads and/or asphalt, but I feel I can’t trust them on more technical terrain, they are super tall and feel quite unstable. I actually rolled my ankles quite a few times even on flat surfaces when I first bought them (now this is not a problem) but I have trouble trusting them on mountain races due to this stability issue. Conclusion: an excellent max cushion shoe for long/ultra distances, very responsive for such a cushioned shoe, very comfortable, very durable BUT a little too high platform to make it trustworthy in technical terrain. Best stick to the roads or easy trails with this one.
These shoes are super comfortable on long runs and the best part is how efficient the sole pattern is. Very grippy but clears debris and doesn’t pick up mud or dirt on damp trails. I’ve also been surprised at how long they last. I expected the small lugs to wear out faster but they are going strong. I do wish the toe had just a little more protection for when my tired legs just trip on everything but other than that these are perfect and I don’t even notice the slightly heavier weight. Size up at least 1 us size.
Thought I'd try a new running shoe other than Brooks so I went with the Dynafit Ultra 100's. I ordered them in my normal size 10 and they look good and feel really well built but a little snug. Took them out for a test run, about 4 miles and the balls of my feet and toes started hurting at about 2 miles and toes alternated between tingling pain and numbness the last 2 miles. Contacted customer service and waited several days from them to get back to me with a negative response for exchanging them for a half size up. I'll keep running in them, push through the pain because I can't just go out and buy a new pair but if you are considering these I highly recommend going half a size up.
After trying one size up from my normal size, I had to go up 1.5 sizes because of a squished pinky toe (I have moderately-wide feet, because my toes are "squared off," and don't taper as much as most shoes do). But once I did that, these fit PERFECT. I ran a trail marathon in them, and my feet were still feeling great at the end. They're the most comfortable long-distance cushioned shoes I've run in. However, the lugs are only moderate, and the stack height means there are much better options for technical terrain. And they wouldn't be my first choice for faster, shorter runs or events. As their name implies, they're a more suited for longer, slower efforts. But if you can get a pair that fit your feet, these things are deliver for what they're designed for.
Really wanted to get this shoe out on the trail- but initial try on at +1 from my normal size (usually a U.S. Mens 10.5 and got an 11.5) and the toe box is still too cramped. The length of the 11.5 matched up with all of my other 10.5 running shoes, so its a toe box width issue. The construction, midsole, outsole all seemed top notch. Weighed my shoe at 312g so weight was better than expected. Similar to another reviewer- fix the sizing issues and this is a great technical/ rugged trail shoe
